Politics is generally referred to as the methodology and activities associated in running a government, every politician has his or her own methodology in running the government that is why there are no two politicians alike.

Politics has over the years created a platform for people of different religious as well as ethnic background to showcase their skills and methods of governing the people, some came and tried and were met with rejection, others came and were judged fair and some came and were rated extra ordinary and second to none. This is the story of Hon. Komsol Alphonsus Longgap. Member representing Shendam,Qua’an pan and Mikang in Federal level.his race in the political affair of the state and the country at large is amazing, and astonishing, his entry into the green chamber to represent the people of his constituency is still unbelievable to numerous, but of course the saying,” who God has blessed no man can curse” is the case of this gentle and humble man.

It’s  less than 4 years but the method of his political career is second to none and incomparable to any seen.

In the area in which he has earmarked to change the narrative of politics has been significantly distinguished. The areas which include.

EDUCATIONAL SECTOR.

THE AGRICULTURAL SECTOR AS WELL AS,

WOMEN AND YOUTH EMPOWERMENT.

It is worthy of note that in all this sectors the indefatigable man has done tremendously well, leaving no stone unturned and making sure the narrative of not just the constituency he represents is changed but the entire political narrative of the state and the country at large. Today at the mention of the name Komsol Longgap every politician trembles in the southern zone and the state at large, not to forget this is just his first tenure in the green chamber, come to think of it, what if he is given a second chance? What if he is given a chance to represent his people at a higher level? The answer is just simple, he will transform in entirety the concept of politics as opposed to the narrative on ground.

Legislative business is a serious business and should be left for serious minded people. As a first timer the Hon. Member saw himself belonging to not less than 15 standing committees in the House. This did not come as a surprise but considering his methodology of governing his people. He has sponsored bills as well as reintroduced bills which he saw till the concluding phase of each. Coming back to delivering his mandate to his constituency the Hon. Member never relents in making sure he brings the dividends of democracy to the nuke and crannies of his people irrespective of tribe or religious differences. He has held  several town hall meetings, he has had several engagements with traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth leaders as well as women representatives on different occasions.

He is a servant to the core, he is a very good listener and a humble gentle man.

In the area of EDUCATION. the Hon. Member has written his name in the sands of time, with the construction of modern and well equipped 2 and 3 classroom block in all the wards in his constituency, this public servant has also constructed 3 well furnished ICT centers across his constituency,still not tired, he has provided scholarships for his constituents too numerous to mention, he has consecutively for three years relieved parents in his constituency the burden of sponsoring their children for JAMB examinations for each child qualified for the exams. This method of politicking is strange to many people as they say.  Not to forget the gigantic history that will never be forgotten , the establishment of federal polytechnic Shendam. Which the hon. Member reintroduced the bill.

Because of his love for education he purchased and distributed learning materials as well as tables and chairs for the not well to do schools in his constituency, this indeed is a unique method of politics not known to many. These are just to mention a few of his educational upliftment to the people of his constituency.

In the area of AGRICULTURE, Hon. Komsol has broken the record in the entire state in 2019 by been the first member to distribute free fertilizer to farmers as well as provide transportation for the farmers to transport their fertilizers back to their respective areas, this indeed is a rare kind of governance, it did not end here, he went further to lobby for soft loans for his constituents to enable them improve on their farming skills for bountiful harvest, it is a well known fact that the people of his constituency are predominantly farmers, and so the jubilation had no end. Still with his style of politics the Hon. Komsol has organised several empowerment programms for his constituents, who were trained on different farming skills as we as presented with farm implements to assist them in farming. He has distributed several farming equipment to his people, he has provided wide range of loans for interested farmers to access from his personal accounts just to boost the state of agriculture in his constituency, is this kind of politics common? Is this method of politics common? Not to forget this is just his first tenure, what if given another chance?

This is to mention a few of his developmental stride in the area of agriculture to his constituents.

In the area of EMPOWERMENT.  The Hon. Komsol has set the record straight in taking youths off the street, he has given women and youth in his constituency a source of livelihood, he has empowered many by the trainings he organised in collaboration with registered organisations like NVRI, the national veterinary research institute, and the likes of others to train women and youth in his constituency in various aspects of farming and also providing cash for each participant to start up a business. The Hon. Member has also in his own wisdom empowered his constituents with motorcycles as well as tricycles to enable them source for a means of livelihood. The Hon member has also constructed roads in some rural communities to help in the smooth transportation of food produce to the wider world, indeed he has connected his constituents to the wider world, remember this is just his first tenure, what if he is given an opportunity to represent his people again , think of what more will be coming.

He has also helped in securing several loans for his constituents from the government as well as provided loans to his constituents from his personal income. This is indeed a different method of politics, what if given a second chance? Poverty will be reduced to it’s minimum level in his constituency.

The Hon. Komsol along the way went further to add security to his agenda in the course of his representation, this became paramount in the wake of security breach in his constituency, the Hon member has taken time to engage with security operatives, traditional rulers, religious leaders as well as youth leaders in a bid to looking for lasting solution to the security breach in the constituency. The Hon. Member has supported security agencies as well as personnel in the constituency with every support needed to curb crime. He has donated motorcycles to local vigilante groups in some communities, he has provided cash support in so many forums to assist security personnel carry out their duties without hindrance. What if given an opportunity to represent his people again? This method of politics has never been seen.

Today in the history of Shendam, Qua’anpan and Mikang Federal constituency, the name Komsol Alphonsus Longgap will not and cannot be forgotten in a hurry. Not because he is an Angel, but because his style of politics, his method of governing his people, his humility, his stewardship towards the needs and desires of his people is second to none and distinguished. The question now is? Are we going to throw away something good because of traditional or religious sentiments?? This is not to disqualify or discredit any political candidate but to state the fact that “THE REWARD FOR HARD WORK IS MORE WORK”.

Shendam, Qua’anpan and Mikang, do not allow sentiments cloud your sense of appraisal.

Let us do an appraisal and let hard work be rewarded with more work.
