Professor Patrick Dakum of the labour Party (LP) in plateau state  is set to return to the ruling APC soonest , this is after  months of speculation and rumor on his intention to come back to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).

Professor Dakum abandoned APC in 2023 to LP following what is perceived to be injustice meted on the  CEO Institue of  Human Virology Nigeria ,and become the Governor candidate of the Party.

The news of his intention to return to APC  is contained in a statement dated 21st May 2025 signed by his Media Consultant Shabul Mazadu and made available to this medium.

According to the statement said :  Professor Patrick Sunday Dakum, will by the grace of God return to the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Tuesday 27th May, 2025,  followed the wider consultations he made with his campaign organisation, Consolidation for Greater Plateau, supporters in the Labour Party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, the All Progressives Congress, APC, and so many apolitical apologists who recommended his return. 

Dakum had in the last month called for a general meeting of all supporters precisely on 21st April, 2025, brainstormed on the political trend and gave matching order for wider discourse and consultations from the ward to the state levels on the best option of engaging in the current political drive. 

The premises upon which the discussions were shrouded included ; the triple national leadership quagmire of the Labour Party threatening its existence and progress, the fast sinking and destruction of the PDP at the National and State levels and the advice from the top to join the APC and support the health reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. 

Having carried out the assignment a resolution of returning to the APC was arrived at.

Narrating the outcome of one of the close door discussions at the National level, his Personal Assistant, Hon. Jonathan Gukut said Dr. Patrick Dakum being a leader in the public health space both at the national, sub-national and international levels; and deeply involved with critical stakeholders  in the health sector and Federal Ministry of Health in health policy formulations and implementations requires deep political convenience, therefore he was advised to return to the APC and support the health positive reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. 

Dakum’s return to the APC will ensue on 

27th May, 2025 at the APC Secretariat, Jing State ward.

His Personal Assistant, Jonathan Gukut and the Consolidation for Greater Plateau, are inviting all APC and Labour party members, state wards in Mupun land (Jiblik, Langkang, Kagu and Jing Ward), critical stakeholders in Pankshin South, Pankshin LG and Plateau Central Senatorial Zone to witness the event.
