Jos To Host Grand Reception For Gov. Caleb Mutfwang Defection To APC.
National attention will be focused on Jos, the Plateau State capital, on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, as Governor Caleb Mutfwang is formally received into the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Following the official inauguration of the Central Planning Committee and the announcement of the reception date, political activities across Plateau State have intensified, with growing public interest and anticipation ahead of the event.
The Central Planning Committee is co-chaired by Rt. Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, and Distinguished Senator Simon Mwadkon, former Senate Minority Leader. Other members of the committee have been working assiduously to ensure a well-organised and befitting reception for the Governor.
To support the planning process, various sub-committees have been constituted and have since commenced work on logistics, security, mobilisation, media coordination, and other critical aspects of the programme.
As part of preparatory activities leading to the main event, a series of engagements have been lined up, including a press conference, media interactions, and road shows across key locations in the state.
Given the political significance of the event, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to formally receive Governor Mutfwang.
He will be joined by the National Chairman of the APC, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda; President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas; progressive governors, senior party officials, and other distinguished guests from across the country.
Organisers say preparations have reached an advanced stage, with assurances that the reception will be colourful, historic, and reflective of the importance of the occasion.
