High Court (9) Plateau State Division has adjourned till 4th Oct,2021 for hearing on Bokkos Local Government Chairmanship election involving Hon.Peter Best Mallo , the plentiff and Hon. Joseph Guluwa defendant objector both from the All Progressive Congress (APC).

The counsel to the plentiff M.B Abdullahi the leading counsel who announced his appearance said my Lord the matter is slated today for mention, prayed the court to grant short adjournment considering the generic nature of the case been election matter which is time bound,of an essence.

Barrister Abdullahi further added that the court should consider the proposed short adjournment been canvassed largely due to the closeness of the said election under contention slated 10th Oct,2021 by the state electorial umpire PLASIEC.

On his part,the counsel to the 1st and 2nd defendant objectors who are the APC and Joseph Guluwa respectively, Barr Nantok Dasuwar moved to withdraw his preminary objection date 1st and filed 2nd Sept,2021 ,the motion the counsel to the plentiff didn’t object but urgued the court to award them with Thirty Thousand Naira cost because they have already replied to their now about to withdraw pleminary objection which cost time though can’t be quantify and money for typing and running around.

The defendant objector objected to the Thirty Thousand Naira cost canvassed by the plentiff and pray the court to discontenance it.

Justice Godfrey Kumyil however adjourned the matter to 4th Oct,2021 for hearing on the matter ,but directed the 1st defendant objector the APC that was not in court on the ground that he was not serve , should be serve to enable him appear in court in the next adjourned date,but refused to award the cost to the plentiff on the ground that it’s too premature to start awarding cost at this stage.

The judge explained that ,”I observe that the first defendant was not serve with the service so for that the court should effect fresh service by placing it at the APC secretariat on pre-hearing date “.

Hon Peter Best Mallo in a suit NO PLD/J/327M1 /2021 is challenging the Nomination of Joseph Guluwa as the flag bearer of the APC in Bokkos LGA by seeking an interims order to maintain status quo pending the determination of the case by competent court of law.

HuCaPAN Holds 10th Annual General Meeting, Elects New Executives

The umbrella organisation of licenced Private Employment Agencies in Nigeria, Human Capital Providers Association of Nigeria (HuCaPAN) on Thursday held her 10th Annual General Meeting in Lagos.

The organisation elected the Group Managing Director of the Strategic Outsourcing Limited, Dr Femi Ogunlowo as the President to lead the newly inaugurated Executive Committee.

The immediate past President, Mr. Remi Adegboyega (FCIPM) in his address said that the organization has bestrode ten challenging years saying that with the mortality rates of businesses and organisations in Nigeria, the organizations has reason to appreciate the support and commitment of all our members especially those that attended the meeting physically and virtually.

He noted that year 2020 was quite challenging not just for the Association but globally occasioned by the outbreak of the devastating global pandemic, Corona Virus (COVID-19), which led to changes in businesses and way of life and considerably slowed down things globally.

He lamented the impact of the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic on the Association. He said “Some of our member-companies experienced arbitrary outright contract cancellation; suspension or downward contract review. The inability of clients to fulfill obligations; and reduction of manpower among others was responsible.”

Adegboyega said that the industry was threatened last year by bills to outlaw casualisation confused with labour service contract and outsourcing, in Nigeria but that HuCaPAN took steps through consultations and media campaigns to enlighten the proponents and the public in order to clear the confusion.

He stressed that HuCaPAN is against casualisation and has been the vanguard in promoting decent work stressing that the association would continue to be guided by best practices, relevant laws and policies.

“As a responsible Association, we have consistently maintained that we would continue to be true to our objective which is to operate and promote standards/ethical practices in recruitment, deployment and management of outsourced personnel among Service Providers in Nigeria and abroad. We have consistently campaigned against casualisation as we believe that it is against the principle of decent work.

We would continue to be guided by our Constitution, the Code of Conduct for Private Employment Agencies in Nigeria which was developed with the technical support from the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, International Labour Organisation (ILO), the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA) and the HuCaPAN. To further decent work agenda in Nigeria, we shall be true to our mantra – “anywhere a Nigerian is found working; he/she must have a decent work.

The ratification of the International Labour Convention (ILO) C181 – Private Employment Agencies Convention, 1997 (No. 181) and Convention 143 – Migrant Workers will no doubt improve our industry. HuCaPAN over the years has been at the forefront of the campaign. This is coming at a right time as the Nigeria Code of Conduct for Private Employment Agencies is also currently undergoing review. I must appreciate our partner, the International Labour Organisation (ILO) for funding the review process and providing the much needed expertise.

These documents hopefully would help to check the activities of quacks in the industry and also help to galvanise larger membership base for HuCaPAN so that all Private Employment Agencies can come together in upholding ethical employment standards.”

Reporting on stewardship of office, Adegboyega said that the relationship between the Association and the regulatory body, the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment and other stakeholders has been strengthened. He said such relationship has led to the government ratification of the International Labour Convention (ILO) C181 – Private Employment Agencies Convention, 1997 (No. 181) and Convention 143 – Migrant Workers; development and ratification of the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for international recruitment and simplification of recruiters licence and its renewal.

He called on other licenced Private Employment agencies in the country to join HuCaPAN so as to promote ethical standards in the industry and weed out quacks operating within the system.

In his acceptance speech, the new President, Dr. Femi Ogunlowo appreciated members for their trust and confidence in him and other Executive Committee members. He appreciated his predecessors, Mr. A.R Emedo, Mr. Neye Enemigin and Mr. Remi Adegboyega and members of the Executive Committee that served with them for their pragmatic and purposeful leadership which has established HucaPAN’s relevance among critical stakeholders.

He said, “While our strategic priority will remain positioning HuCaPAN as the voice of the industry by creating advantages and opportunities for member companies in a way that would protect our business, we will devote the next two years to building on our strengths and taking on new directions through training, resource mobilization, strengthening our relationship with the government and relevant stakeholders, effective implementation of relevant ratified ILO Conventions, policies and laws governing our industry.

We will work assiduously to maintain fair labour practice that upholds international labour standards and ethical practices.”

Other members of the new Executive Committee include Amb. Chief Nzeribe Okegbue, Ph.D, 1st Vice President; Otunba Tunji Balogun, 2nd Vice President; and Mr. Tunde Johnson, 3rd Vice President. Others are Mrs Christianah Ubuane, Treasurer; Mr. Steve Onyemah, Protem Publicity Secretary and the immediate past President as Ex-Officio.

Earlier, the Director General, Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association, NECA, Dr. Timothy Olawale and the Director, International Labour Organisation Country Office for Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia and Sierra Leone and Liaison Office ECOWAS, Ms. Vanessa Lerato Phala commended HuCaPAN and pledged their support to the association and decent work in Nigeria.

Human Capital Providers Association of Nigeria is the umbrella organization of registered and licenced recruiters in Nigeria also referred to as Private Employment Agencies (PEAs). The objectives of the association are to develop and promote International Labour Organisation, ILO, standards and ethical practices in recruitment, deployment and management of outsourced personnel in Nigeria.

The New Elected People Democratic Party(PDP) Chairman in Jos North,Hon.Aminu Abdullahi has offered olive branch to his co-contestant at the just concluded ward Congress held in Jos North.

Abdullahi said there is “No Victor No Vanguish as there is no winner no looser , urgued them to come and join hand with him now that the election is over to rebuild the party in Jos North in particular and Plateau as a whole.

Hon. Aminu Abdullahi make the appeal in an interview with journalists during his inuguration as the New Elected Chairman of Jos North in keenly contested Ward Congresses of the party in Jos , plateau state.

The Chairman promised that now the election is over he will ensure that he reach out to all those who constested with me and did not win, with the view of bringing them on board and work together to move the party to another level that will be the envey of all in the state and Nigeria as whole.

He further add that the issue of impunity in the party which was not only applicable to the Ward alone where the electorates hitherto not given the opportunity to choose those to lead them ,is now a thing of the past because it almost destroy the party.

“The impunity within the party, that’s what we are fighting against,the party lost members due to impunity within it’s fold”.

The chairman further add that impunity where it existed ,did not only kill Political party , but an organization because people are allowed to choose their representative in free fair and credible election.

He called on those who are not card carrying member of the people democratic party(PDP) , should come to PDP as the coast is now clear because everyone will be accorded equal membership opportunity.

Abdullahi stressed that PDP still remain the only party that will rescue Nigeria from the present economic, Political and other mess the country find itself occasion by clueless All Progressive Congress (APC) for over six years they hold sway on power without nothing to show for it.

“PDP is the only solution to Nigeria,Plateau state and Jos North problems”

He is hopeful that the party will join formidable force to chase the ruling APC out of power as my co-contestant Hon. Hassan and some of his supporters had phone me to congratulate me.

Buhari Is Caged, APC Has No Functional Ideology—— Northern Group

A group under the auspacies of Northern Youths Leaders Forum (NYLF), says the Muhammadu Buhari that Nigerians have today is not the Buhari they elected as president in 2015.

National President of the NYLF, Comrade Elliot Afiyo, who led the group to a news conference in Yola on Friday, said Buhari has been caged and unable to influence good governance in line with his sterling innate character.

“The real spotless Buhari has been caged,” Afiyo said, adding that Buhari has been laminated and his core personality replaced with the unsavoury Buhari that Nigerians know today.

Afiyo, who said he had known Buhari on a close range for a long time, said the president is a straightforward and honest person with selfless disposition and an eye for the general good, but that those around him have not provided the right environment for the real Buhari to manifest.

He said Buhari’s party itself, the All Progressives Congress (APC), has not been helpful, as its ideology is only on paper.

He expressed the regret that, “rather than praying for Buhari, Nigerians instead curse him.

“It is public knowledge that our nation is sinking and there is every need for patriots to come together to restore the nation,” he said.

FFK : Political Asset Or Liability.

It was President Ibrahim B. Babangida who once told us that Nigeria’s economy defies all logics. I can also add that Nigeria’s politics defies all logic. Granted, politics isn’t exactly the play field of saints and known also as a profession without qualification but at least in other climes a certain minimum is required.

Americans require a modicum of honesty and fidelity in their politics.

In 1987 the brilliant political career and the well-received presidential bid of Democratic Senator Gary Hart came to an abrupt end when it transpired that he had spent a weekend on a yacht named “Monkey Business” in March with two young women, none of whom was his wife. Infidelity also earned President Bill Clinton an impeachment and brought down uncountable politicians through the years. Why are Americans so fussy about marital infidelity? Many are influenced by President Harry Truman’s reasoning when he said: “You know, if a man will lie to his wife, he will lie to me.”

That has been interpreted to mean that if a politician can cheat on his wife he would cheat on his nation with alacrity.

You cannot apply this in Nigeria unless you want to drive ALL the politicians away. Understandably ours is still largely a polygamous society and therefore marital fidelity is less nuanced.

I’m not holding this up to FFK, a confirmed serial polygamist whose conquests, by self-confession, included a beauty queen from the East who was also wife to a one time Biafran War General. Recently he carried out another game of musical chairs on the home front ; he replaced the older Missus with a younger and “yellower” one. To demand marital fidelity from him is to demand honesty from him.

Okay, so most politicians are not honest but what exactly is FFK’s political selling point? Haughty, impudent, irreverent and abusive. What is a ruling party looking for in a politician with such specifications? Why would a party in power recruit attack dogs? Does the APC nurse an invidious agenda?

In 2006, in the heat of President Obasanjo’s third tenure elongation campaign, General Yakubu Gowon, who back in 1975 suffered a coup d’etat after postponing his promise to handover in 1976, came out to advise Obasanjo’s to learn from his mistake, but was instantaneously torn to smithereens by FFK, the OBJ’s attack dog!

I think I am wrong to call him an attack dog; I hear that dog’s display lifetime gratitude to their benefactors.

FFK doesn’t have this noble trait. On January 15, 1966, Chief Remi Fani-Kayode, the Western Region Deputy Premier and FFK’s father, was in custody of junior military officers awaiting certain execution as the military operations of the coup raged; the Premier, Chief Akintola had already been killed.

It was Lt Col Gowon, after he got wind of it, that dispatched soldiers under the Kabwir-born Capt. S. G. Tokkida to go and free Chief Remi Fani Kayode at Ikeja barracks. But FFK displayed his kind of gratitude to Gowon by insults that day in 2006 while defending his temporal “owner.”

Whatever job the APC have for FFK in the coming days, I caution them with the Hausa adage: Kar dara ta chi gida.

Daily Trust reports that Fani-Kayode, who was officially presented to President Buhari by the national chairman of the APC caretaker committee, Mai Mala Buni, said his decision to dump the PDP was divine.

Plateau State: Military Intercepts Illegal Arms Smuggle Into The State .

Military Troops Code named Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) has arrested armed syndicate on the 16th Sept 2021 September 2021 with 370 rounds of ammunition concealed in a Toyota Pathfinder car with registration number Plateau LGT 772 JN.

The arrest of the armed syndicate is contained in a press statement dated 16th Sept,2021, signed by the military information officer ,Major Ishaku Takwa and made available to news men in Jos, plateau state.

According to the release,luck ran out of the suspect when the driver of the car attempted to maneuvre the military check point located at Werreng along Barkin Ladi – Jos in Plateau state. Unfortunately for the suspects, their car hit the barricade at the check point which resulted in the death of one of the suspects.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects Sergeant Azi Jonathan, a 30-year old serving police traffic warden drove the vehicle and Mr Nengak Daniel, a 60 year old were intercepted by the troops during stop and search operation at a checkpoint.

The body of the deceased suspect have been handed over to the Police Divisional Headquarters at Barkin Ladi while the other suspect is undergoing interrogation.

Other items recovered from the suspects include a Toyota Pathfinder car, a cash sum of Two Hundred and Five Thousand, Seventy Naira (N205, 070.00) only, one empty case of ammunition, one Dagger, a torchlight and 3 Techno phones. Others are; national identity card, 3 wraps of a substance suspected to be cannabis and a bag containing clothing materials.

The surviving suspect is currently undergoing further interrogation for prosecution.

The Commander OPSH, Major General Ibrahim Ali while commending the troops for their vigilance has reiterated the determination of his command to flush out criminal elements on the Plateau and environs.

He urged law abiding citizens to continue with their normal daily activities as troops are working round the clock to ensure crime free society. The Commander further enjoined members of the public not to relent in supporting security agencies with credible information to stem criminal activities in the state.

Governorship Aspirant Hon.Akilo Olatunji Berates Gov.Fayemi Over Poor Developmental Projects In Ekiti

The Governorship Aspirant of the Young Party,YPP, in Ekiti State ,Hon Akilo Olatunji Thomas has berated the Governor of Ekiti state ,John Kayode Fayemi over lack of developmental projects in the state since he assumed office as the governor of the state, as Akilo described the governor as blind man that succeeded in dividing the state by creating disaffection and confusion in his second terms in office .

He disclosed the major problem of Nigeria is fallout of bailout funds released to the state governors leading to the country into underdevelopment of the country .

Speaking with our medium in Jos ,Thomas explains that the bailout funds has caused comatose to some of hitherto active states which play major setback to the country with so many tourist centres neglected and abandoned by government .

He added that most governors didn’t live up to their functions of delivery good governance to Nigerian

And further stressed that governor Fayemi two terms in the office is a complete failure he has disappointed the good people of Ekiti state ,the state is a civil service state so with the creation of developmental local governments were he can’t develop the present 16 LGAs created by Federal government .

The creation of additional 34 LGAs is a great economic lost to the state to our people ,honestly ,to me we should be talking on revamping Ekiti state.

According to him ,the people of Ekiti should be asking Governor John Fayemi of improving the well-being of our people but they’re now killing each others over creation of additional LGAs who is going funds after all federal government didn’t recognized it .

Hon. Akilo Olatunji however called for participation of Youths in the act of governance in Ekiti state in particular and Nigeria in general “we need more youth participation in active politics for them to stand for their right and demand for their right our future is now .

He disclosed that the Ekiti water Spring were cold and hot waters was introduced by former Governor Segun Oni regime with huge financial investment of the state government, currently a shadow of itself as the cite is now dilapidated largely due to the none challant attitude of the government of Fayemi.

Thomas lamented that the youths in the state have been relegated to the background, states with abandon mineral deposits which can’t be harness , he said Nigeria as a country is endowed with aboundant natural resources if government pay attention, they would have generated internally revenue .

Hon Akilo Olatunji said under Governor Fayemi ,” we can’t be proud of seeing electricity in all the 16 LGAs including the state headquarters ,8 years down the line no blink of light in Ekiti state especially in Okhotsk Ekiti 20 years without connection to national grid is very sad development .

Thomas stressed that ,we have representative and senators in all the Federal constituencies in Ekiti state yet lack of development has beclouded us, our future is bleeding in the hands of Governor Fayemi .

He lamented that the electorates queued under the sun to vote these representatives who turned out only to be interested in sharing the state resources not those that are representing our interest anymore we are face up with bad leaders of Senator Abiodun Olujimi and Rep member Femi Bamishile for years of masquerading as people representatives .

Hon. Emmanuel Dung Appeals To PLASIEC Not To Disenfranchise Plateau Voters.

The Chairmanship Candidate for Jos South Local Government Council of Plateau Chapter of the People Democratics Party, PDP, Hon. Emmanuel Dung “Gibok” has cautioned against plan by the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commissione,(PLASIEC) to disenfranchised the electorate in forthcoming LGAs Polls in October 2021 .

He decried the worsening insecurity bedeviling Nigeria by calling on PLASIEC not exclude PDP in the forthcoming Polls as a serious threat to our democracy .

Hon. Emmanuel Dung made disclosure in a chat with journalists at the Plateau State High Court Premises on Wednesday in Jos .

Chairmanship candidate lamented the loss of lives and properties in Plateau State and Nigeria to kidnappers, bandits.

According to him, the Nation’s security architecture should be overhauled to meet the present challenges of insecurity across North-West ,North-East and North-Central including South East .

He employed federal government and state governors to walk up and address the lingering insecurity also security agencies to be more proactive.

Hon Emmanuel Dung admonished the security to overcome the rising insecurity by working toward discharging their main function of tackling bandits and kidnappers on sprawl .

“The criminal elements perpetuating the attacks, killings, kidnapping, rape and other criminal activities are not ghosts, they are human beings and I believe our security agencies have the capacity to tackle them considering their gallantry and competence” Hon. Emmanuel disclosed.

According to him, those responsible for the insecurity should be arrested, prosecuted and punished according to the law of the land to serve as deterrent to others who may want to tow the same path.

He called on the people not to hoard intelligence information but make same available to the appropriate authorities so they can intervene in a timely manner.

He appreciated the PDP delegates, stakeholders and party supporters for electing him as the Chairmanship Candidate of the Party at the Primaries.

He promised not to disappoint the confidence bestowed on him but justify it with outstanding performance if elected.

Hon. Emmanuel Dung also appealed to Governor Simon Lalong to unite the people and lead without segregation.

He said as a Father of the State, the Governor should accept, embrace and carry all along in the spirit of oneness and togetherness irrespective of tribal, religious and political inclination for the unity, growth and progress of the State.

The Candidate also charged the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) to ensure that Candidates of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) are not exempted from the forthcoming Local Government Polls in the State scheduled for 9th October, 2021 as doing so will amount to disenfranchisement and a rape on our nascent democracy.

He urged the electoral umpire to borrow a leaf from the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission by deploying the e-voting system to enhance credible, free, fair and acceptable elections where the will of the people are respected.

He said no political party should be unjustly excluded from the forthcoming Local Government Polls.

“The Ruling Party, APC has woefully failed Nigerians as it has thrown the citizens and the Nation into abject poverty and maladministration”

“PDP remains the best party that understands governance and how to provide sound leadership that will benefit all irrespective of their religious, ethnic and political affiliation” he said.

Former Jigawa Governor, Sule has decried the astronomical increase of insecurity in the country.

Lamido revealed this on Sunday with a meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo at his OOPL Presidential Library residence in Abeokuta, the Ogun capital.

Lamido said the country is bleeding and appealed to Obasanjo to continue to contribute his quota to peace and unity.

“How do we remain safe is the biggest problem and challenge now in this country. Nobody is safe again.

‘Imagine, kidnapping three workers of Baba, a former President of the country? Who is safe again? he queried.

Lamido said his visit to the ex-leader was normal and that he met him “in a very high spirit and good health”.

“He told me that he’s now ageing and I responded that he’s not. We still need him in this country.

“He said, Sule, I will do anything for Nigeria. That is very inspiring. That is why I like him and this reinforces my faith in Nigeria.

“We discussed a number of issues, particularly on Nigeria that he so loved. No matter how down we go, we’ll rise again”, he added.

Following the alleged Murder of a taxi driver by the personnel of Operation Save Haven (OPSH),the troop deployed to Plateau state have been warned to always conduct themselves in a professional manner inline with global best practice,and adhered the fundamental human rights of the citizens .

The press release read,

Operation SAFE HAVEN received with shock a report of security personnel of OPSH deployed at Farin Gada beat and murdered a commercial taxi driver Mr Abdullahi Karafa.

Immediately the report was received, the commander Operation SAFE HAVEN Major General Ibrahim Ali visited the deceased family and condoled them over the unfortunate incidence.

The commander has since constituted a board of inquiry to unravel those behind the heinous act. He asured that those who would be found culpable will be made to face the full wrath of the law.

SAFE HAVEN wish to reiterates that troops deployed on the plateau were always warned to Operationconduct themselves in the most professional manner inline with global best practices and respect for the fundamental human rights of the citizenry and strict adherence to rules of engagement. Therefore, any act short of this is condenmable and unacceptable by OPSH.

Sequel to the crisis which has engulfed the hitherto “Home Of Peace And Tourism” Plateau state where scores lost their lives and unquantified properties destroyed, security outfit under the code name Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH),has Inaugurated 36 member of joint peace Committee 11th Sept,2021.

Inaugurating the committee which was held at the Headquarters of Operation Save Haven(OPSH) in Jos the commander of the security outfit Major General Ali who doubled as the General Officer(GOC) commanding 3 Armour Division Cantonment Rukuba , recommended measures to be taken to find lasting solution to the incessant clashes and killings among various ethnic groups in the State.

Speaking during the inauguration, Maj Gen Ali urged members of the committee to demonstrate impartiality, neutrality, honesty, uprightness and avoid sentiment and compromise.

He disclosed that the members who were drawn from ethnic communities in Bassa, Jos North and South LGAs have the background knowledge of the conflict and hopes their experience in communal conflict resolution would assist in fast-tracking the restoration of peace on the Plateau.

Maj Gen Ali stressed that sustainable peace can only be achieved through alternative dispute resolution mechanism by all parties to the conflict.

The Commander noted that the Committee was created as part of the non-kinetic approach of Operation SAFE HAVEN to peace building in the state.

He added that the committee would assist in making recommendations that will help OPSH and Plateau State Government in finding lasting solution to the incessant conflict among various ethnic groups of Irigwe, Fulani, Hausa, Bache, Dong, Gyel and Anaguta. “

…It is hoped that the outcome of this committee will contribute immensely to the peace building efforts in the targeted communities with a view to returning Plateau state to the path of peace and sustainable development” he said.

The Committee according to Maj Gen Ibrahim Ali, would identify the root causes of the crises in Bassa, Jos North and Jos South local government areas and recommend implementable strategies that would lead to sustainable peace on the state.

Thanking the Commander for the confidence reposed on the Committee, the Chairman of the committee, Prince Robert Rigwe Ashi gave the assurance that the committee would discharge its duties diligently devoid of sentiment and solicited for the support of community leaders to achieve their mandate.

Also speaking on behalf of Traditional Rulers, the District Head of Dong, Ada Gwom Kaze Inyam appreciated the Commander for the initiative and urged the leaders of Irigwe, Fulani, Hausa, Bache, Dong, Gyel and Anaguta communities to support the Committee to succeed in its assignment.

The Committee has two weeks to complete it’s assignment.

Governor of Plateau state Simon Bako Lalong, First Lady Regina Lalong and members of his family were in Ny’ak, Ajikamai, Shendam LGA to pay their last respects to his late uncle, retired Colonel Martin Maigida who died at the age of 73.

The funeral mass was held at the St. Stephen’s Catholic Church Ny’ak where Rev. Fr. Tobias Damen take his bible reading from the book of Matt chapter 25:31-46 and Romans 5:5-11, and admonished Christians to be focussed on life after death rather than acquiring earthly possessions and positions as everything on earth will pass away.

He further reminded the congregation that everyone will stand before God for judgement where he will give account and receive reward according to his deeds here on earth. This he stressed should make people do good and respect humanity and sanctity of life, rather than discriminate and act wickedly against others who are also God’s creation.

Governor Lalong described the late Col. Martin Maigida as a fine officer, gentleman and a caring father who served his family with love and gave so much to society, particularly his immediate community, using his training as a health worker and soldier.

He recalled with nostalgia how the late uncle mentored them and stood in for them through generosity, sound counsel and exemplary conduct. This he said spurred many of them to aspire for greatness and also contribute to the society.

Lalong added that though they are pained by the loss of the late Colonel Maigida, they are nonetheless comforted by his testimony and good legacies which will remain indelible and a source of inspiration for the younger generation.

Son of the deceased, Air Commodore Wapkerem Maigida also eulogised his late father describing him as humble, honest, godly, disciplined and patriotic. These attributes he said have been deposited in them and have propelled them towards making impact in the society.

He thanked sympathizers who paid personal visits and sent various messages of commiseration to the family.

Before his demise, late Colonel Maigida was a Knight of St. Mulumba (KSM).

Lalong Legacy Projects Suit,Court Adjourns Ruling On Application Till 24th Sept.

High Court judge ,Justice Daniel Mann has fixed 24th Sept,2021, on application brought before him on whether the process filled by the major contractor Beneson Service Nigeria Limited and LP Management Limited seeking the court relief instituted against the Ministry of Finance ,Plateau state government ,LP service Nigeria Ltd and United Service Nigeria Ltd on award of contract to the company was in accordance with due process .

After the Plateau State Government terminated the contract agreement for contractor failure to meet the contract term ,Beneson service Nigeria Ltd and LP Management Ltd instituted Institute legal action against the Plateau State Ministry of Finance ,State Government, Trustee Ltd and United Trustees Ltd over the decision to payment which contractor failure to pay contractors .

Counsel representing Beneson service Nigeria Ltd and LP management Ltd who the claimant ,Barr . A.K.Ajibade ,SAN, in an interview with journalists says,the case have to do with “Lalong’s Legacy Projects” where the plaintiff the contractor went into the market to obtained a bond worth which 30 million to execute the project .

He further said the state government terminated his client contract agreement and give it to another contractor denied his client who have gone to source for fund to complete the contract .

Mr Ajibade explained that the Plateau state government raised preliminary objections on process filled and we have replied them .

However, he stressed that the 3rd & 4th defendants counsel brought an application that form 01 was not properly filed urging the court to stroke out the suit for lack of merit .

Ajibade argued that if you’re in court the issues of form 01 doesn’t arise at the early stage ,he submitted that the court should disregard the argument sought by the defendants and allow the matter proceeds.

Meanwhile ,counsel to the 3rd and 4th defendants ,Barr.Pascal .N. Mammo said the argument was based on preliminary objections we file challenging the competency of the action of the plaintiff .

The 3rd & 4th defendants filed that what the plaintiff, the contractor brought before the court didn’t meet the requirements of the law .

Pascal argued that they don’t have to commence on the originating surmount at this stage because the action go contrary with the position of the law which by law it should be struck out that the step taken to approach the court dead on arrival .

Ajibade, SAN representing the Project contractor, disputed claim of the defendants and arguments at a virtual of High Court hearing when the judge scheduled to deliver a ruling on 24th September, 2021.

Governor Lalong stated this in his speech during the Inauguration of the New leadership of Plateau Youths Council (PYC) to pilot the affairs of the council for the years approved by it constitution , held at the Azi NYako Youth center Dandin kowa, 9th Sept,2021.

The Governor said as the youth vanguard in the state,they should use their tenure to unit youths in the state and stop been a prey in the hands of greedy and selfish politicans who are bent in causing Political disharmony in the state and set the youth against the constituted authority,the government of the day.

Governor Simon Bako Lalong asked the people of Plateau State to take advantage of the Anti-Land Grabbing Law signed early this year and seek redress over any land forcefully or illegally taken from them.

This is even as the Governor says he will soon inaugurate an Anti-land Grabbing Task Force to also follow up on such complaints and ensure that justice prevails.

Lalong decried the exploitation of the youths by some unscrupulous politicians who stop at nothing to spread lies against his administration using such false narratives relating to land and other matters.

He said “Contrary to this mischief, our Government is the first in the history of Plateau State and one of the few if not the only one in Nigeria to sign anti-land grabbing law which we initiated as an Executive Bill. Till date, no one has either approached the Courts to lodge any complain of land grabbing or even sent a petition to me. Yet you hear this narrative being spread like wildfire.

Similarly, our efforts to end conflicts between farmers and farmers are being ignored and twisted for politics. We established the Peace Building Agency which has conducted series of dialogue sessions across the State. In Bassa alone, there have been more than 34 sessions. We succeeded in bringing Berom and Fulani together in Barkin Ladi and they reached an agreement on how to live in peace”.

“I appeal to you to ignore and reject such character assassination ploys by those who want to use you to achieve their selfish agenda. Beware of politicians who do not have anything to offer to you except to cook up lies and pull down others under the guise of standing with the people. Let them tell you what they are bringing or have brought to the table when they were in office” he said.

He congratulated the new leadership of the youths for their election and urged them to continue to support the Government as it works towards improving the lot of the youths and creating job opportunities.

New Chairman of the Plateau Youth Council, Comrade Lot Sunday Adas said the youths in Plateau must rise up and show their readiness and commitment to pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, to assure the survival, progress and success as all citizens of the State irrespective of their backgrounds.

He also promised to work with the Government in ensuring that the youths get empowerment and job creation opportunities.

The crunch 93rd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has started in Abuja with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar affirming that the former ruling party is the only platform that can go through the serious challenges it has witnessed recently and not break up.

In his remark at the opening session of the meeting taking place at the PDP national secretariat, he praised the party members for their steadfastness to democracy and the rule of law.

Following the inauguration PDP National Campaign Council for the Anambra State Governorship Election earlier during the meeting by the PDP acting National Chairman, Elder Yemi Akinwonmi, the PDP presidential candidate in 2019 election said since 1998, he had not seen Anambra PDP united the way it is today.

He commended all organs of the party particularly the PDP Governors Forum for the leadership they have provided for the PDP during the recent crisis.

Akinwonmi said in his welcome address that the essence of today’s NEC is to approve the convention planning committee and others that had been agreed upon for setting up during the last NEC meeting.

Plateau State Govt.Relaxes Curfew In Jos North,Lift Ban On Tricycles.

Plateau State Government has announced a further relaxation of curfew in Jos North Local Government Area as well as lifted the ban earlier placed on operations of tricycles commonly referred to as Keke.

This is contained in a press statement dated 7th Sept,2021 signed by the Director of press and public affairs to the governor Simon Mackut Mancham and made available to journalists in Jos, plateau state.

The release read in part,

After a meeting of the State Security Council held on Monday 7th September 2021 at the new Government House Little Rayfield Jos, Governor Simon Bako Lalong approved that beginning from Tuesday 8th September 2021, the curfew in Jos North will be enforced from 10pm to 6am.

This will tally with the current status of the curfew in Jos South and Bassa Local Government Areas which still remains from 10pm to 6am.

Similarly, Governor Lalong also approved that beginning from Tuesday 8th September 2021, the ban placed on operations of tricycles will be lifted from 6am to 6pm daily. This means that no tricycle will be allowed to operate between the hours of 6pm to 6am.

However, the ban on motorcycles within the Jos/Bukuru Metropolis remains intact as enforcement will continue to ensure that violators are arrested and punished according to the law.

The Government is working on innovations, legislations and enforcement modules for enhancing the security, effectiveness and availability of public transportation in the State, which will be unveiled in due course and is expected to address the major concerns of the citizens particularly as it relates to the safety of passengers.

Governor Lalong while appreciating the cooperation and understanding of the citizens during the period of the attacks and subsequent curfews, urges them to continue to support Government in restoring normalcy to enable the State resume its normal trajectory of hospitality, opportunity and productivity.

Governor Lalong also thanks all stakeholders within and outside the State for their concerns and goodwill towards addressing the recent ugly developments, assuring that his administration will continue to pursue the path of peaceful coexistence while dealing with criminals and crises merchants who are bent on tarnishing the enviable image of the State.

Insecurity : Kogi Registers Commercial Transport Vehicles To Checkmate Criminals.

As part of measures aimed at tackling insecurity, Kogi state government has commenced registration of all commercial transport vehicles including motorcycles and tricycles operating in the state. The State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (Rtd), disclosed this on Monday in Lokoja at the commencement of the registration exercise holding at the Lokoja Township Stadium.

Commander Omodara stated that the registration exercise became imperative to have a data base for all commercial transport operators in order to checkmate crimes and criminalities among the populace as part of the policy formulation of the state.

The reporter, Global times Nigeria, Idris Ahmed, Lokoja said that the Special Adviser pointed out that Kogi state government is ever ready to prevent influx of bad elements using means of transportation to wreck havoc on the innocent citizens.

While the exercise is intended to improve on security of the state, it will equally boost the revenue drive of the government and also serve as security to the operators and their vehicles to curb theft and other criminal activities

On Social intervention programmes, the Security Adviser noted that the data base may be used for State Health Insurance Scheme to help the operators, stressing that the exercise would also help in the internally generated revenue.

Also Speaking the Chairman of Kogi State Internal Revenue Service KGIRS Yusuf Abubarkar corroborated the Special Adviser on Security, stressing the necessity of having the data base of the transporters operating within the confine of Kogi state for security purpose.

He added that the exercise will be spread across the 21 local government areas of the state, stressing that every operator within Kogi State must be registered. The revenue board Chairman explained that though the exercise is free for all for the next two weeks, late registration will attract some levies.

According to the officials, over 5,000 motorcycles in Lokoja , the state capital, are expected to register, adding that those who failed to comply will be made to face stringent sanctions.

Alh.Danladi Pasali ,the National Coordinator Buhari Campaign Organization (BCO) has strongly call for the Plateau state criminal justice reform that will make it an offence punishable by death if convicted by competent court of law any person, group who Cause crisis and killed during crisis.

Pasali who doubled as the National Secretary of Petroleum Marketers Association lamented that since Plateau crisis started 20 years ago,nobody have been punished to serve as deterant to some Crisis merchants who stocks in trade is to cause mayhem , the reason the Crisis persisted.

Alh.Danladi Pasali disclosed this in an interview with journalists recently at his resident in Jos, Plateau state capital.

He further said until the government and those in the corridor of power judiciary, summoned the courage with the view of reforming the current obsolete criminal justice law,that will make it punishable by death for person , group who aid and abate crisis and involved in killing .

And stressed that this reform is very impressive because human live is precious for any person to just come and cut-shut with little or no provocation.

When this reform is made , which will take care of the obsolete Criminal Justice law, that is now obsolete with a lot of lacuna,that will make it punishable by death for any person that kills.

He Condemned the recent Killings at Rukuba road and Yelwan Zangam community in the state, however stressed that no religion , Christianity and lslam encourage killing of another person no matter the level of provocation.

On the current issue of insecurity bedeviling the country,Pasali said ,

“Security is everybody’s business and is not the responsibility of the government along ,all must been involve”.

And further added that in must time, looking at the way things are happening in respect to insecurity ,one will be forced to insinuate that it’s politically motivated .On the recent Plateau Crisis ,you can see that it’s politically motivated. He maintained.

Pasali appealed to Nigeria to stop politicising the issue of insecurity in the country because the live of the citizens are very precious.

“We are appealing to Nigerians to stop politicising the issue of security because the live of the people is precious”.

“We should not be handling the issues of security with Political mindset , and said security is serious issue and everybody’s business”.

He urgued all asundry irrespective of Political, religious, and ethnic lineage to support the government for us to end this security challenges .

The APC Chieftain in the state thank God that live has returned to normal after the senseless crisis that engulfed the state few weeks ago , claiming lives and properties, reiterated his condemnation as killing in any religion is not allowed.

The suspects according to the release Ex Sgt Patrick Kalu a retired police officer, 60 year old and Mr Friday Kalu 40 years old were nabbed by troops of OPSH during stop and search operation at Manchok Riom road.

They alleged that they were contracted to convey the illicit substance from Ondo State to Yola, Adamawa State.

Items recovered from the suspects include 320 blocks of substance suspected to be cannabis, a Toyota camry car with registration Number Abuja, ABC 214 HV, a police identity card, 2 Nokia phones and two wallets containing Sixteen Thousand One Hundred naira and another containing Two Thousand Nine Hundred and Forty Naira only.

The suspects and items recovered have been handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Plateau State command for further investigation.

While commending troops for their vigilance, the Commander OPSH, Major General Ibrahim Ali reiterated the determination of his command to flush out criminal elements on the Plateau and environs.

He said OPSH will not rest on its oars until criminals and their collaborators are annihilated.

Nigerian Army has advised those who stocks in trade in dissipating their energy calling for the remover of the GOC 3 Armour Division who doubled as the commander Operation Save Haven (OPSH) to forthwith stop instead come forward and suggest ways to rebuild the collapse peace on the Plateau.

This is in response to group under the aegis of Coalition Of Plateau Ethnic Nationalities calling for immediate redeployment of the GOC 3 Armour Division over the recent crisis in Yelwan Zangam where not fewer than 36 persons where gruesomely murder in Cold blood.

According to the release,

Barely 24 hours after the visit of the Chief of Defence Staff General Lucky Irabor to Jos where he interacted with critical stakeholders, had fruitful discussions and reiterated the need for the peace loving people of the state to support security agencies to restore lasting peace in the state, it is surprising that a group which identifies itself as Coalition of Plateau Ethnic Youth Nationalities under the leadership of Comrade Lohnan Samson is insisting on taking us backward by reiterating the needless call for the removal of the GOC 3 Division Nigerian Army Maj Gen Ibrahim Ali.

This attack on the person of the GOC is an unnecessary distraction in the effort to restore sustainable peace on the Plateau. We therefore appeal to the group and other groups to stop dissipating energy attacking the person of the GOC rather, they should concentrate on building peace in the State.

All organised groups in Plateau State should understand that they have a responsibility to contribute positively to the peace building effort in the State in particular and the nation as a whole. In this regard, if the group has any suggestion, credible information or specific issue to be addressed to fast track the restoration of lasting peace on the Plateau, it should feel free to make such suggestions to security agencies.

All Progressives Congress ,APC, in Langtang North Local Government Council of Plateau State , Nankar Napoleon Shagaya has dragged the APC,Hon Bitrus Zulfa Rimven ,Hon Sylvanus Tapgun ,Mrs Joyce Dajahart ,Mrs Shakunkwu Fatima and Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission ,PLASIEC alleged the exercise was characterized with irregularities and imposition of candidates .

The matter which came up for continuation of hearing ,counsel to the claimant Barr. S.E Zhattau told the court that the notice of preliminary objections was served on him .

He explained that the notice dated 10th August,2021 was filed on them and their replied on the 13th 2021 and all parties were served with the application .

The counsel to the 2nd defendant Barr. Nantok Dasuwar also prayed the court to withdraw a motion filed on the 9th August, 2021 seeking the order of the court that the matter should not be entertain by a vacation judge which they raised objections .

Prophet Isa El-Buba Charges Northern Christians , Muslims To Coexist In Peace.

Prophet Isa El-Buba, Vice President Pentecostal fellowship of Nigeria has urged Christians and Muslims in the North to live together in peace and harmony and shoy not allow Northern elite to manipulate them into taking up arms against one another in the name of religion.

Prophet Isa El-Buba said the on going ugly development in the North are the handiwork of Northern elite that are always manipulating the masses of the North for their own selfish advantage at the expense of the majority that are languishing in acute porverty.

El-Buba in an interview with newsmen in Jos, said majority of the crisis bedeviling the Northern part of the country are caused by Fulani killer herdsmen and bandits.

He called on the Nigeria Army to use modern technology in warfare to clear the forests and ungovernable spaces that are being used by kidnappers and bandits presently occupying Nigeria forests illegally.

Prophet El-Buba who is also the founder and President of Evangelical Bible Out Reach Ministry International (EBOMI) said the people of the North are feeling the pains of what killer Herdsmen,bandits and criminal elements are causing in parts of the northern states and rest of Nigeria today and called on the Presidency to do the needful to stop all forms of attacks in Plateau state and others across the country.

According to him, it will pay the people of the North good if they decide to live together and be their brothers keepers as they tend to gain more in the area of development.

He disclosed that presently, they have Christians and Muslims in his family and that there is no enermity between him, his brothers and sisters who choose to join him in Christian faith or others that chose to be Muslims.

He warned Northern Elite that their time is up as the masses of the North have realize that to hope for a better future, they have to take their destiny in the hands by choosing new crop of leaders with new ideas and vision to create a better future for the people of the North.

He wondered why poverty, illiteracy, religious extrimism, Banditry have all become part of the North simply because the Northern privileged few have sown the sead of discord among their people.

The People Democratic Party (PDP), Plateau state chapter has said there is void in the position of governance in the state as governor Bako Lalong who supposedly be in charge of government in the state is always junketting in and out of the state living the citizens vulnerable to the enemies.

Plan To Attack Langtang By Militias Group Thickens,As Council Chairman Raise Alarm.

There are palpable plans by militias group to unleash mayhem on Langtang North and South Local Government of plateau state by some

militias group .

As the Executive Chairman of Langtang North Local Government Area of the State Hon. Joshua Ubandoma Laven has raised alarm that the security report at his disposal indicate that people suspected to be terrorists have surrounded his council area with plans to unleash mayhem of a monumental attack on the peace loving people of the locality.

Joshua Laven traveled this to journalists during press briefed in Jos, said at about 4pm on Thursday 26th August 2021, some militias were spotted coming to attack Tarok Nation particularly Langtang North and South Local Government.

The chairman further told journalists that he immediately got in touch with Forward Operation Base (FOB) Commander representing Langtang, reported to him and he confirmed to that FOB was aware of the intelligent report.

“I immediately called the the Area Commander in charge of Southern Zone Plateau and he informed me that he received the same security report. He told me to alert the communities and let everybody keep vigil.

The Chairman further further add that he called Commissioner of Police in the state Mr. Edward Egbuka and he confirmed to him, that they have told him what is going on but as a local government, we should try

and see what we can do.

“I appealed that proactive measures be taken because what has been happening in Jos started a long time ago but proactive measures were not taken with the view to nip it in bud.”

“Yesterday our people kept 24 hours vigil,” he said.

Laven stressed that they are calling on security agencies and government not to only confirm that they were aware of the influx of terrorists but they should do something about it adding that they should step up their game and come to the rescue of the people.

According to him, the armless civilians cannot defend themselves and hence they are calling on security agencies to join hands with the Tarok nation to chase away the the invading militias.

“As a local government, we know that our first priority is to protect lives and property because the first responsibility of government is to secure lives and property.

“We are calling on security agencies to come to our aid but we are warning that when they come they shouldn’t take side with one group especially the Invaders.

He further stressed “When they come, let us go to the bush and chase the assailants because we are the ones that they are invading.When the attack occur, which they confirm to us that it is imminent, they should not come and cage us while the assailants are killing us.”

“We do not have the weapons but we have the might and wherewithal to assist security agencies to chase away these assailants.We know that security agencies have been stretched but they need to deploy more personnel to Langtang, don’t allow the innocent citizens to be killed,” he maintained.

He however commended Plateau State House of Assembly members for advising local governments to stop the recruitment of teachers and instead engage vigilante to protect their communities.

Laven said that people would only talk about employment when they are alive stressing that those that were killed in Bassa and other places will not wake up and work again?

“Security is paramount and the House of Assembly took the right decision. And called on ethnic groups to unite and end the

bloodletting in the state.

According to him, if one ethnic group fold their hands that it is not their ethnic group that were being killed, after the killers are are done with one, they

would go after the other.

“Plateau should embrace themselves and know that their unity is paramount, cordial existence is the only way out of this situation” he added.

Plateau In Search Of Courageous Leadership

In times of crises, citizens look up to their leader for protection, respite and direction. A leader takes charge from the front, securing the values, identity and posterity of his/her people. And the people trust and support him with the assurance that he would neither lead them astray nor abandon or betray them. From antiquity to the present day, these are some of the most fundamental grounds on which the legitimacy of leaders and their relationship with their

followers are founded.

But, sadly, this is not what obtains in today’s Plateau State. Today, the governor and the people he purports to lead stand poles apart. The governor and the majority of the people of the state are going in completely opposite directions. While the people continually resist the shackles of the northern oligarchy, Governor Lalong appears to be desperately aligning himself with their diabolical agenda. An agenda built on ethnic and religious supremacy and dominance. An agenda that has now become a death sentence on the indigenous citizens of the state whom the governor swore to protect at all times and under all circumstances.

As we have pointed out elsewhere in the past, it is from these broad perspectives that we must understand both past and the unfolding bloody onslaughts on innocent Plateau citizens by Fulani herdsmen and sundry Islamist militia who President Buhari and Governor Lalong have deceptively continued to label as ‘unknown gunmen’, ‘miscreants’ and ‘criminals’. They do so in order to conceal the true identities of the perpetrators and their sinister and long-standing plans to make us forever subservient to their narrow,

primordial whims.

That is why, once again, Plateau people are in deep mourning and agony. They are painfully suffering from the wounds of a brutal attack launched by a well-known enemy that has become a thorn in the flesh of almost all Nigerians – Fulani herdsmen.

At around 10.00 pm local time on Tuesday, August 25, 2021, they launched a well co-ordinated attack on the quiet, mainly Christian community of Yelwan Zangam, in the suburbs of Jos, the Plateau State capital. Not less than 36 innocent people were massacred – some of them slaughtered, others set on fire and burnt beyond recognition. Reports say that children and women were among the victims.

The following day, journalists reported witnessing policemen openly weeping on the streets of Jos upon sighting the corpses that hundreds of aggrieved youth loaded in trucks in procession to Government House, Rayfield, Jos. Amid chaotic scenes, the equally grieving police officers allowed the youth proceed to the seat of power where they dumped the human remains to register their frustration over the governor’s consistent inability to stand with the people in the face of such attacks which have spiked in recent weeks.

The latest incident comes after a security alert was slammed on the entire country following the August 14 killing of 22 Fulani Muslims at Rukuba Road, Jos North LGA. They were said to have been traveling back to Ondo State from a religious festival in neighbouring Bauchi State.

Pundits argue that the Yelwan Zangam massacre has once again highlighted the strong feeling among most Plateau people that Governor Lalong may very likely be in cahoots with President Buhari, working in the interests of the Fulani herdsmen.

They say that, for instance, immediately after the killing of the 22 Fulani men, the Presidency swiftly deployed a massive security and intelligence paraphernalia and personnel to handle the matter and issued a statement condemning the attacks. President Buhari was also said to have lost his appetite due to the trauma he suffered from the sad incident involving his 22 Fulani kinsmen. On his own part, Governor Lalong visited the Fulani survivors in hospitals. And within a record two days, the security dragnet was able to bring in

more than 22 suspects.

But as we write (August 27), the Presidency has not issued any statement about the Yelwan Zangam massacre. And, as is usual with such heinous crimes against indigenous peoples, the question of the identity of the perpetrators is still in doubt, talk less of making any appreciable progress towards their arrest. And in a matter of days, the gory massacre will be swept under the carpet – and become one more sad footnote in our bloody history. Until the herdsmen strike, once again.

As for Governor Lalong, even his die-hard supporters who had continued to give him the benefit of the doubt are now beginning to doubt his sincerity in handling these recurring outbreaks of violence which have placed indigenous communities at the receiving end. They fear that if he does not change his attitude and stand with his people, the state may likely descend into anarchy as more and more communities come under the attack of the rampaging, land-grabbing Fulani herdsmen.

The overwhelming feeling among the majority of Plateau citizens is that they have become expendable pawns, sacrificed by their governor in a high stakes political chess game. His aim, they say, is to gain acceptance and legitimacy within the ranks of the oligarchy and be able to muster some political

crumbs from their tables.

It is worthy of note that had Governor Lalong not prevaricated and spoken from both sides of the mouth about the crises in Plateau State, the protracted Bassa carnage, which ultimately led to the Rukuba Road incident, would have been averted. To be sure, Fulani herdsmen are currently occupying Rafin Bauna (Detsen Kaura) in Bassa Local Government Area (LGA). This area is a stone’s throw from the headquarters of the formidable 3rd Armoured Division of the Nigerian Army.

Also in Riyom LGA, the Fulani have seized large swathes of rich agricultural lands in Rankum and Fass which they have renamed Mahanga and Tafawa. These herdsmen and their well-armed militia use these indigenous areas to launch attacks on communities in Bassa and Riyom LGAs respectively. But this is just a

tip of the iceberg.

It is upon these cauldrons of simmering injustice, forceful dispossession of lands, destruction of farm crops and willful massacres that the Lalong administration sits; pretending that dispensing the kind of jaundiced justice prescribed by President Buhari would make Plateau’s horrific nightmare disappear in one fell swoop.

Courage, sacrifice and integrity are the universal hallmarks of great leadership. It is these outstanding qualities that make leaders and their people survive periods of collective adversity and come out even stronger.

Is it too late for Governor Lalong to firmly grab integrity and bravely dare his peoples’ enemies in order to earn a place on the pantheon of Plateau State’s

great leaders?

The Headquarters OPERATION SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) has appealed for understanding , urged for cooperation from the citizens of plateau state to support the security agencies with the bid of maintaining peace in the state.

Genocide In Jos North, Communities Calls For Urgent Need For Self Defence.

Sequel to the recent genocide in Yelwa Zagam Village of Jos North LG of Plateau State ,the Communities in Jos North has decided to jettison their difference and go after their enemies who has vowed to make their communities desolate with total annihilation.

This is contained in a press statement jointly signed by the leaders of the three communities in Jos North LG, Joseph Arin chairman Afizere Youth Movement , Deacon Moses Dawang , president Anaguta Youth Movement and Yakubu Dung Pam , chairman Berom youth movement.

The three indigenous Ethnic groups of Jos North LGA, said they have resolved to keep aside their brotherly difference and go against our enemies .

The statement reads in part,Afizere,Angatu and Berom,wish to categorically rise against the killings, maiming and massacring of innocent of our brothers and sisters in cold blood within Jos and it’s environs.

We frown at this heinous act of killing innocent citizens regardless of their faiths and where they come from.

Within the period of two weeks alone,over one hundred people loss their lives in Jos North LGA ranging from Attacks and counter attacks.

The Recent skirmishes resulted to the killing of innocent people including the students of the University of Jos.

The Major constitutional responsibility of Government at all levels is to Secure the lives and property of her citizens,but with the killings in Dong and Yesterday’s attack and killing of over 36 innocent people in Yalwa Zangam. Government have not been able to secure her citizens.

We want to state it clearly with equivocation that,these attacks,mowing of crops,land grabbing in Jos North,is being perpetrated by the suspected Fulani Bandits who graze their cattles on our crops, forceful seizure of our lands and subsequently launch attacks.

Just Yesterday,over thirty six people were massacred by these marauders in Yalwa Zangam and the brutal way they carried this heinous act,a bridge was destroyed in order to hinder securities access to rescue the community. In this sad development,we are calling on our people to rise and defend themselves within the tenets of law,before we will all perish from the hands of the attackers.

All communities should intensify efforts and rijig Community police,hunters and vigilantes. They should be properly equip to carry their duties effectively as well as gather enough intelligence to prevent further unprovoked attacks.

To our greatest consternation, instead of Government to send adequate Security agents to the affected areas,Soldiers and other securities were sent to Angwan Rukuba to

molest innocent citizens.

We call on the Federal and Plateau state Government to beef up Security around Bauchi Junction, University of Jos,TT and T Junction,Kunga,Gidan Mai Jegap and other volatile areas to forestall other occurrence.

Secondly, Relief Materials should be send to the victims and Community of Yalwa Zangam.

Thirdly,The Victims of the Attacked or their families be compensated,those injured and receiving medical treatments, Government should pay their medical bills.

All the burnt houses and the bridge be reconstructed. The perpetrators should be arrested and prosecuted.

As the People Democratic Party(PDP) matter over exclusion from participating from the state LG election billed for Oct,2021,the state electorial umpire (PLASIEC)has commended the ruling of the court over the application before the court.

Speaking to our correspondence at the Plateau State High Court ,in an interview Garuba Pwul (SAN) represented by his journior lawyer said the position of the court is very clear on the matter that the vacation Judge lack the jurisdiction to hear the matter contrary to the conventional court, because it was not documented as one of the cases that needed expendious hearing .

He however hailed the ruling of the court on the application for it erodict ruling but quick to add that the ruling of the court in favor of their client(PLASIEC)is not to mean that the case have been struck out completely.

“The hearing on the matter still continued, but the matter has to be on the judicial cooler for a while pending the resumption of the court from its annual vacation that is expected to end by 13th August,2021.

.

“That is why my Lord justice Kunda in his wisdom and magnimity fixed 13th, Sept,2021 for the resumption of hearing on the matter as against the annual Court vacation.

Urged the applicant claimant to be patient to commence the hearing of their case when the court return from it annual vacation is over.

On his part,the claimant applicant , People Democratic Party (PDP) appeal to the party supporters and the party faithful not to be discourage with the court ruling on the application,to go ahead and continue their respective preparation for the election the forthcoming LG election.

Counsel to PDP, Edward Pwajok assured the party supporters of victory in the main suit that is adjourned to 13th Sept,2021 for hearing.

He gives example of the recent case of Bokkos where the same court granted motion ex- parte restraining the candidacy of hon.guluwa from parading himself as the candidate for Bokkos LG chairman, and further restraining him from contesting an election pending the determination of the court by his party counterpart hon.best both APC candidate.

Pwajok further stressed that when the case is finally delivered hopefully in favor of PDP, they will just be waiting for swearing in as they will not have any contender because the two aspirants fighting themselves are from APC.

He berated the APC for building their Political ambition around lawlessness and frangrant violation of the rules of law, unlike the PDP, who dedicatedly followed the rule of law to proof their case which is reason why they are in court day to contest their exclusion from the election.

He however advised them to be patient and believe in the popular adage which says”He who laugh last , laugh best”.

It would be recalled that PDP dragged the state by electoral umpire (PLASIEC), APC and Lalong before the Jos High Court for excluding it from participating in the LG election slated for Oct,

2021.

In different twist , PLASIEC counsel G.S Pwul, moved motion on notice questioning the competent of the vacation court to entertain the matter because the claimant applicant did not follow the plateau state lay down civil procedure rules as the case can’t be entertained by vacation judge as against conventional court citing some relevant part of the constitution to back his augment.

In his ruling,the vacation judge , justice Isaku Kunda said all the proceedings on 27^th July and the Application moved were all predicated on faulty ground and gross violation of Order 49 rules 4d and 5 of the Rules of Court.

Justice Kunda further add that the case was assigned to him by the Chief Judge of the State and he never indicated any urgency nor was the suit classified as a “Pre-election matter”.

Adding that, “for the matter to have been heard during the vacation, one of the party or both would have made a formal request through a Motion Exparte according to the rules and whatever the Court decides

will stand.

He explained that, the rules of the Court from his mind, is not in conflict with the provisions of Section 285 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (As amended).

The matter was however adjourned to the 13th September,2021,for further hearing ,to accommodate the conventional court setting and in line with plateau state civil procedure rules.

The may not be a better time for governor Simon Bako Lalong of Plateau state as the state lawmakers are dagger drown with the governor as they have issued him two weeks Ultimatum to Implement all bills and resolution the has pasted so far.

Section 33 (1) of the Nigerian Constitution (“the Constitution”) provides that persons living in Nigeria, shall have a right to life and no one shall be deprived intentionally of his life unless in execution of the sentence of a court of a criminal office of which he has been found guilty.

The member of the state law makers give governor Lalong the stringent proposal at the extra ordinary plenary session held 25th August,2021 held at the Plateau State house of assembly complex.

During the plenary the issue of insecurity devilling the state in particular,and Nigeria at large was brought to the front burners as everybody irrespective of bribe and religion,has the right to life and property of every citizens domicile in any part of the state.

The speaker and other honourable members present at the well attended plenary give the executive Governor two weeks ultimatum to implement over twenty resolutions and bills of matters of urgent public importance or exercise it’s legislative right.

This action of the state lawmakers is coming at a time the governor is facing crisis in the state which has led to killing of scores of person whose numbers is yet to be assertained.

Yelwa Zagam Village Attack, Plateau State Govt Re-Imposes 24 Hour Curfew On Jos North LG.

Plateau State Government has reinstated the 24-hour curfew earlier relaxed in Jos North Local Government Area following growing tensions arising from the attack on Yelwa Zangam village of the Local Government where people were killed and properties

destroyed.

The re-imposition of the 24 hours curfew is contained in a press statement dated 25th August,2021, signed by the Director of press and public affairs to the governor Mackut Macham and made available to this medium in Jos.

According to Governor Simon Lalong, the 24 hour will come into force from 4pm, today Wednesday 25th August 2021 until further notice.

The proactive decision became necessary following eminent threat to lives and properties within the Local Government Area and the need to forestall the breakdown of law and order.

It will also enable security agencies deploy appropriately to maintain security as the search for the attackers of the villagers continues.

The Governor has appealed to the citizens of Jos North to cooperate with the Government by abiding to the 24-hour curfew commencing 4pm, 25th August 2021, as security agencies have been mandated to ensure that those who violate the curfew are arrested.

Also, the 6pm to 6am curfew in Jos South and Bassa LGAs still remains in place until further notice. Only people on essential duties such as health personnel, journalists, fire service and para-military and others, are to be exempted from the curfew but should carry means of identification with them at all times.

The Governor is calling for calm as he is seriously grieved by the attacks. He again sympathises with the victims, but wants them to show restraint and allow Government to handle the matter to disallow hoodlums from taking advantage of the unfortunate situation to cause mayhem and destruction in the State.

Night Attack On Yelwa Zagam Village In Jos North Scores Fear Dead.

Scores fear dead as Zagam Community of Yelwa in Jos north local government area of Plateau state yesterday 24th Aug, 2021, came under attack by suspected gunmen.

This is contained in a press release dated 25th August,2021, signed by the Military Information Officer Major Ishaku Gaji Takwa and made available to this medium in Jos , Plateau state.

According to Ishaku ,the attackers came in the night and started house to house shooting of unsuspecting members of the community. The gunmen also destroyed houses and the bridge linking the town to the community making access to the area difficult for security agencies.

Troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN mobilised to save the community were slowed down by the destruction of the bridge by the marauders.

Troops eventually got to the scene of the attack by navigating through other villages and met some houses already burnt and casualties recorded.

Troops are on pursuit in the direction the killers fled.

A State High Court on Tuesday adjourned the case of the chairman Langtang North LG ,Hon.Ubandoma Laven to later date for ruling on the fresh application brought before Justice Ishaku Kunda by the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission ,PLASIEC ,All Progressives Congress ,APC,and Governor Simon Lalong urging the court to dismiss the Chairmanship candidate of the PDP ,Langtang North

LGA of filing processes .

Barr .G.S. Pwul ,SAN, told the court that he has a motion on notice dated 10th August, 2021 , immediately the court resumed sitting.

Pwul lamented the delay of the motion on notice which is due to the unfortunate incident that occur in Jos North LGA that is well know to everybody ,we have served on the claimant /respondent on a single

prayer.

According to the (SAN), said our motion is predicated on three ( 3 )issues and was supported by affidavit of 13 paragraphs accompanied by a written address to satisfy the rule of this court .

Pwul further add that the counter affidavit and the written address filed by the defendant which application on point of laws were he placed reliance on the recent addresses in support of this motion .

He urged the court to take judicial notice of the processes filed by the claimant/ respondent following the urgent notice of withdrawal dated 09th August,2021 which all grounds has been exposed .

Garba Pwul stressed that the claimant respondent unilaterally response ,citing authority on Dingari against INEC ,stressing that in their suit NO PLD /J/3321/2021 was wrongly filed calling on the court to dismiss the

application .

On his part,while ,countering the argument of defendant, ,Barr. Harrison Uguala said ,we have filed a counter affidavit and a written address in position of the application .

He noted that his application dated 11th August,2021 which we placed reliance on all the paragraphs of the counter affidavit by adopting as their oral submission in the application .

However, Uguala said ,the defense counsel only served them this morning urging the court that the matter having been filed today the argument cited by the applicant is not correct as the supreme court judgment went contrary .

Ugwuala maintained that the defendant in page 2 of their reply across 210 to 213 (E) (B) the defendants didn’t have any defense here even on their authority cited .

He urged that the defendant shouldn’t flog a death horse by calling on the court to dismiss the application on

grounds of lacking in merit .

The judge justice Kunda Ishaku adjourns matter for ruling, the date which has been communicated to the parties.

The commander of 3rd Div who doubled as the commander Operation Save Haven(OPSH) an Army out fit set up to mitigate crisis in the state, Major General Ali Abubakar appreciates some of the concerns of the Christian bloc and appeals for calm as the Operation is working round the clock with the Government and critical stakeholders to maintain peace in the state.

He said the Christian body seems not to appreciate the frantic efforts Operation is making in ensuring the protection of law abiding citizens of all faiths, ethnic backgrounds on the plateau and ensure peaceful co-existence.

He further add that”We are not unmindful of the determination of some merchants of crisis to perpetuate unrest in Jos metropolis and its environs they are also bent on ensuring that the GOC and Commander OPSH does not continue with his mandate of ensuring sustainable peace in the state.

The release stressed that the call for the removal of the GOC did not come to us as a surprise as the campaign of calumny against the person of the GOC started shortly after his assumption of the command as the series of attacks were indeed precursors to this latest call for his removal.

While acknowledging some setbacks recorded initially, those challenges have been surmounted by more deployments, robust mobile patrols and increased presence of security personnel.

We have also increased our engagements with critical stakeholders and citizens to build confidence and keep the channels of communication open. It is a fact that we have increasingly responded swiftly to distress calls to curtail crime and criminality in the state.

He further added that to allege that Maj Gen Ali has not lived to expectation in managing the dual responsibility of GOC and Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN is false. The Headquarters 3 Division Nigerian Army and Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) has Condemned the false and unfounded allegations of Christians body in plateau State under the auspacies of TEKAN/,ECWA BLOC against the GOC Major General Ibrahim Ali as lies and infringement of the imagination of the maker who only God knows what he wanted to achieve with it.

The commander of 3rd Div who doubled as the commander Operation Save Haven(OPSH) an Army out fit set up to mitigate crisis in the state, Major General Ali Abubakar appreciates some of the concerns of the Christian bloc and appeals for calm as the Operation is working round the clock with the Government and critical stakeholders to maintain peace in the state.

He said the Christian body seems not to appreciate the frantic efforts Operation is making in ensuring the protection of law abiding citizens of all faiths, ethnic backgrounds on the plateau and ensure peaceful co-existence.

He further add that”We are not unmindful of the determination of some merchants of crisis to perpetuate unrest in Jos metropolis and its environs they are also bent on ensuring that the GOC and Commander OPSH does not continue with his mandate of ensuring sustainable peace in the state.

The release stressed that the call for the removal of the GOC did not come to us as a surprise as the campaign of calumny against the person of the GOC started shortly after his assumption of the command as the series of attacks were indeed precursors to this latest call for his removal.

While acknowledging some setbacks recorded initially, those challenges have been surmounted by more deployments, robust mobile patrols and increased presence of security personnel.

We have also increased our engagements with critical stakeholders and citizens to build confidence and keep the channels of communication open. It is a fact that we have increasingly responded swiftly to distress calls to curtail crime and criminality

in the state.

Plateau State High Court sitting in Jos Division on Monday 23rd August,21 has issued restraining order to stop the Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Hon. Joseph Guluwa and Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission ,PLASIEC ,from

Hon. Peter Best Mallo in a suit NO PLD/J/327M1 /2021 challenging the Nomination of Joseph Guluwa as the flag bearer of the APC in Bokkos LGA by seeking an interims order to maintain status quo until the determination of the case .

Peter Best Mallo approach the vacation judge ,Justice Ishaku Kunda who delivered the ruling on the motion ex- parte application ordering the PLASIEC the body saddled with responsibility of conducting LG election in plateau state Chairman ,Hon Ntung Ari ,APC from allowing Joseph Guluwa parading himself as the Chairmanship candidate of the party in Bokkos Local

Government Council .

Speaking with the plaintiff counsel ,Barr. Munir Abdullahi Barau explained that ,”I’m glad that we filed a motion of ex- parte application over the APC congresses that produced Hon. Joseph Guluwa as their candidate for the forthcoming LG election .

We argued that the party should maintain status quo which by implication that ,”if for example the party APC conducted election in Bokkos LGA today, APC will not feature any candidate for the election because already there is an order to that effect .He maintained.

OPSH Warns Members Of Islamic Movement Of Nigeria Against Plan Protest.

Operation Save Haven(OPSH) Security outfit formed to broker peace in Plateau state and it environ ,has send a strong warning to Islamic body under the auspacies of Islamic Movement of Nigeria to put in hold there proposed Peace protest slated for 20th August,21.

The warning dated 19th August,21signed by the public relations officer of the force Major Isaku Takwa reads:

Intelligence report available to Operation SAFE HAVEN indicates a planned protest by members of the proscribed Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) otherwise known as Shiites.

The protest which is planned to hold nationwide including Plateau State is scheduled for Friday 20 August 2021. The protest, according to the report is due to the health challenges of its leader Sheik Ibrahim El Zakzaki.

While acknowledging the rights of individuals and groups to hold peaceful protests or processions. It is however instructive to note that the fragile security situation on the Plateau is currently not conducive for such activities. Besides, the intelligence reports available further reveals plans by hoodlums and miscreants to hijack the protest and cause mayhem in Jos Metropolis and its environs.

In view of the above, Operation SAFE HAVEN hereby calling on members of IMN to shelve their planned protest in the state. Already, the Commander has ordered troops to ensure that the planned protest by members of IMN or any other group does not take place on the Plateau until full security is guaranteed.

3 Days Prayer of Late Sen Mantu, Lalong And Jonah Jang Leads Plateau Delegation .

Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong has described the late Deputy Senate President Senator Nasiru Mantu as one of Nigerian’s most pragmatic and peace loving politicians who used his influence to bring people together and promote the good of the society.

Governor Lalong was speaking at the third day prayer for the late politician held at his residence in Asokoro, Abuja where he led the political class in Plateau State comprising of former Governor David Jang, Deputy Speaker House of Representatives Idris Wase, past and serving members of the National Assembly, Minister of Women Affairs Paullen Tallen and others former Ministers, as well as

The message purportedly stated that the demonstration is expected to commence from Massallacin Jumaa Yan Dankali to Plateau State House of Assembly Complex.

Statement from the
Military Information Officer, Major ISHAKU TAKWA, says OPSH, will not want to join issues with the organizers of the planned protest, it is instructive to state that inview of the fragile nature of peace on the Plateau this protest is unnecessary and uncalled for. We are fully aware that Muslim clerics and leaders have distanced itself from the planned message circulated and not in support of the peaceful demonstration.

OPSH is therefore sending a strong warning to those planning this demonstration (if it is true) and the originator of the message to have a rethink. The 24 hours curfew imposed by His Excellency the Executive Governor of Plateau State Rt Hon Simon Bako Lalong on Jos North local government and 12 hour curfew on Jos South and Bassa Local government area is still in place and we are fully deployed to ensure its enforcement.

OPSH will not allow any body or group to breach the fragile peace in Jos metropolis. Consequently any body found acting contrary to the law will be dealt with.

Gov. Diri, who disclosed that so many have returned back to PDP which is their place of rest, asked party members to keep reaching out until they bring the remaining decampees.

The governor made the call during the official commissioning of the new PDP secretariat in Yenagoa the city capital on Wednesday.

The ceremony also signalled the flag off of the e-registration programme of members in the state.

Unveiling the complex, Diri said this marks the beginning of PDP’s successes and election victories both in the state and at the Presidency come 2023.

He added “We have forgiven all those that left us, we have so many that came back, but I want you to go and bring back the remaining ones. Bayelsa state is known for internal party politics and we all know it; which means once you get the party flag at any level it is as good as winning the general election itself.

The Chief Medical Director of the Plateau Specialist Hospital Jos, Dr.Philimon Golwa has said the current on going staff salary for the month of June and July have nothing to do with the management of the hospital but from the office of Account General of Plateau state.

And debunked the rumours making around that the reduction of the salary emanated from the office of the Chief Medical Director under his supervision.

Dr Golwa who is the chief medical director of the State owned specialist hospital stated this in an interview with journalists in his office in Jos , plateau state.

Golwa said regarding the staff salaries , there been an issues surounding the salaries generally.He explained further that there are two salaries grade scale that are met for the services of health sector in Nigeria .One is the COHESS which is for the staff of the hospital aside medical doctors while HATiss which is for the payment of doctors salaries .

Dr.Golwa said that has been the approval for the past 10 years in the migration from the different grading system that have been the standard they have been adopting all over the nation.

Back to Plateau state, every state has it own peculiarity , it’s the state peculiarity that has negotiated for 85 percent COHESS and COMESS system for the hospital.

He further added that they never give 100 percent which has been agreed upon which have been used over the years.

Golwa stressed that this particular deduction that is raising a lot of agitation within the affected staff of the hospital ,all of a sudden, there was migration to another scale the union where not comfortable with ,they bring another scale which will can’t say where it emanated from.

This scale put the staff to a lower take home, that is what the staff have been complaining about.

Recently ,there have been a lot of agitation so much that they have put letter of strike ,we called all the staff that nothing is impossible .

” I was at the ministry of health,we sat with the Head of Service of the state in his office, saw where the problem was and promised to effect the correction.”

“He promised to effect the correction in the month of July ,21 salary and promised to see that they migrate back to the former COMESS and COHESS structure salary scale system.”

Dr.Philimon lamented that unfortunately there was a lot of mistakes during the computation of the salaries ,as the configuration of COMESS and COHESS system is basically handled by the consultant.

These he said ,the management begged the staff to be patient, with the faint promise that the correction will be definately be effected change and migrate back to the old payment system which is COHESS , COMESS system.

On the challenges of the hospital since coming on board,In fact our challenges is very enormous,the management has cried of staff challenges, people where going and people where not coming in.

We raised alam at the management level, raised memo the Government under the leadership of our amiable governor Simon Bako Lalong graciously approved ,a very good number of staff to employed as for last year. The have been employed.

However,we can’t stop there because people still come in and out, while those billed to retire were not replaced ,so we are still having those deficits ,we are still waiting to write on those gaps so that we can have those one on one ratio so as to bridge the gap that is one area.

On the area of physical structure in the Hospital,the hospital is doing reconstruction in most of the area that have been damage that have been done , and when you look around ,you will see some building with uncompleted structure ,those structure where meant to be the main laboratory meant to be 4 or 5 star standard laboratory.

The next structure under construction is the administrative building for the hospital to cater for the next face of the administration of the

hospital .

Before now the hospital was having pending bill in the state House of Assembly , which the governor Barr Bako Lalong has graciously signed into law in 2019 that will are currently working with,as the completion of these structures will perfect the face of the hospital.

He added that the hospital is having another structure that is earmarked for the treatment of renal failure center .Now the hospital has gotten an approval of the state governor to put up new image department he going to put new machines .

Dr.Golwa said the other structure is meant to accommodate prediatic unit which the governor has also approved it completion, even the contractor have come to inspect the structure and the management of the hospital has dialogue with him ,as it’s left with the perfecting the machanism of the completion.

The CMD added that the critical manpower ,especially the the senior cadre where you have super Specialities are the areas the hospital are still struggling to see if we can have approval and use the opportunity to discuss Special Specialities.

On the recent Covid-19 pandemic that has made non sense with the economic, social and other aspects of the living of people,the CMD said,the hospital have been having a lot of challenges , however said the challenges have been summounted that every body is aware of what it’s.

“Some people who contacted the disease will come to the hospital ,after the conventional treatment,the go back and start administering self medication which had been one of the major challenges.

He however said that it’s no longer news of the recent out break of colerra in the state , a lot of them have been admitted at hospital facility, the management of the hospital has control and subdued the disease to a very large extent as the hospital boss give the assurance that very soon the government shall eract a new effecious disease building the plans which he said in on the pipe line.

He said until that is completed the hospital can now beat it chest with the new machines coming in.

“Completing the structures, getting new staff, getting super speciality I think the hospital is done.

IYD 2021: Baptist Youth Conference Felicitates Youths

The Nigerian Baptist Convention Youth Conference, NBCYC, has felicitated the youths across the world especially, Baptist youths, on the occasion of the 2021 International Youth Day celebration.

In a statement personally signed by the groups National President, Pastor Onajite Enunuaye, and made available to journalists, he described Nigerian youths as resilient despite the seeming challenges.

He said that Nigerian youths are quite innovative despite the unconducive environment.

Speaking on the theme for the 2021 celebration, “Transforming Food System: Youth Innovation for Human and Planetary Health”, Enunuaye said that it was a double-barrel theme which emphasis youth contributions to the food system and healthy planet.

The President added that Nigerian youths are unfortunately unable to fully develop and contribute to the food system due to the security challenges in the country.

“On behalf of the youths of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, I congratulate all youths across the world on the 2021 International Youth Day which is celebrated every August 12.

“The theme for 2021 is quite apt. It aimed at celebrating the innovation of youths across the world to food systems and climate change discuss. However, Nigerian youths have been challenged by the insecurity ravaging the country.

Lagal practitioner barrister Niri Darong has decried constant gross violations of human rights and abysmal failure of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) ruling government into the second year of the second

So if Miango can’t be save, Jebu Bassa is not save considering it proximity to the military formation, where then will be save.

He Condemned the actions of the local government chairmen in the state who never stay in their respective local government which is their places of assignments but rather choose to stay at the capital city while their local government suffered.

Gov.Lalong Commends NSCDC For Developing Security Architecture On The Plateau.

Governor Bako Lalong of plateau State has commended the Commandant General of Nigeria Security And Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for his efforts of repositioning the security architecture in State.

The Governor Stated this during the Inaugural passing out parade of the officers and men of the Plateau State Command of Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) held on 9th August,21 at the Rwang Pam Township Stadium jos .

The Governor represented by the Secretary to the Governor professor Danladi Atu welcome the Commandant General of the Corps, Dr. A.A Audi, to Plateau State ,and congratulated him for bringing in new innovations to the operations of the Corps since taking office.

“Here in Plateau State, we are witnesses to the fact that the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has contributed tremendously to the attainment of peace and

security of our State.”

The Governor lamented the recent sad experience as a State and the current situation we face as a country reaffirms that without peace and security, we cannot achieve any meaningful development,hence the reason why peace and security remains the priority of APC administration in the state .

He further stressed that on assumption of office as the Executive Governor of plateau state, I resolved to find lasting solutions to the lingering crises on the Plateau and to return the State to its pride of place as the Home of Peace and Tourism.

“To ensure we achieve this objective, we established the Plateau Peace Building Agency with a clear mandate to drive the peace and reconciliation process and institutionalize the concept of peace beyond our administration”.

Similarly, we continued to support and strengthen the security agencies in the State by providing them with logistics and equipment to perform better.

“Only recently, we procured and distributed 50 patrol vehicles and 200 security motorcycles to various security agencies in the State. The NSCDC also took possession of its share.”

We have also ensured that the Operation Rainbow which enjoys a lot of support from the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, is reformed and given more impetus to perform.

Through its operations and the collaboration of the Community Policing Constabulary as well as other community watch groups, we have been able to enhance the security of the State.

Lalong lamented that despite the Government’s efforts,we have continued to witness desperate attempts by crises merchants to resurrect violence and destruction in particular, recent isolated killings in some parts of the State such as in Dong, Jos North; Kwi in Riyom LGA; Barkin Ladi LGA; and Irigwe, Bassa LGA gives us serious concerns.

“I am particularly saddened by the recent wanton destruction of lives, properties and the deliberate destruction of farmlands and crops in many communities across Bassa.

This the Governor said the trend is unacceptable and I personally condemn in the strongest terms, the premeditated destruction and carnage brought upon our people by enemies of Peace and stability.

He explained that in the last Security Council Meeting held recently, I repeated my charge to the security agencies to deal decisively with those who are behind these attacks and safeguard our people.

I reminded them that there is a standing order by the President and Commander in Chief Muhammadu Buhari that unauthorized persons carrying AK 47 should be shot at sight.

“I expect all the security agencies to step up their operations in these areas and ensure they smoke out all militia groups from their operational bases.”

” Let me assure the citizens that our administration will never fold its arms to see few criminals take Plateau State back to those dark days of pain and sorrow. “

The Governor congratulated the newly trained officers and personnel of the NSCDC who have been given specialized training in weapons handling and urge the Command to deploy them systematically to critical areas to enable them confront criminals that are threatening the peace and security of our people.

“You know where these criminals are and you have my support to get in there and flush them out to be brought to justice. In particular, I want you to deploy personnel to the farms to protect our farmers who are being harassed by criminals and having their crops destroyed for no reason. These food terrorists must be stopped at all costs.”

“In the same vein, I wish to urge the newly trained personnel to be very professional and careful in handling weapons that will be put in your hands,they are not for oppressing the citizens but for protecting them.

However asked them to bear in mind that you shall be held personally accountable for misusing the weapons put in your hands in public trust.

“Also ensure that you resist the temptation to engage in unlawful assignments and conducts that are not authorized simply because you want to extort people and make money. Other acts such as collusion with criminals to commit crime will also not go unpunished. As the chief security officer of the State, I will not tolerate misconduct from any security official, whether high or low. “

However, I assure the security agencies in the State particularly the NSCDC of the consistent support and collaboration of my administration in making their task easier. We are benefitting enormously from your presence in the rural areas and in intelligence gathering. Because of your training in dealing with the civilian population, we see you as a great partner.

Let me again congratulate the State Commandant of the NSCDC who within the short time of his posting to Plateau State has shown great enthusiasm and determination to make the State more secure and crime-free.

North Central Peoples Forum Visits Governor Lalong, Emphasize On Security And Unity.

The North Central Peoples Forum (NCPF) has maintained that there must be more proactive measures to address the security situation in the country and particularly in the North

Central region.

The group made the call when they visited Governor Simon Bako Lalong of Plateau State to condole with in him over the recent spate of attacks in some communities of Plateau State and other States of the North Central part of Nigeria as well as introduce the body to him.

The Forum was led by its BOT Chairman, Lt. Gen. Sen. Jeremiah Timbut Usaini who said they are in the office on behalf of the people of North Central Zone of Nigeria to assure the Governor and the people of the State of their readiness to support and encourage and partner with his administration. He said the Forum comprises of people of different religions, ethnic and political leanings, cutting across the North Central States of Nigeria.

These include, Plateau, Nasarawa, Benue, Kwara, Kogi, Niger and the Federal

Capital Territory (FCT).

Useni further explained that the purpose of the group is to unite its people in ensuring that peace and stability is sustained; rapid industrialization is facilitated; sound policies and process that will ensure that the massive minerals and agricultural endowment are adequately harnessed; and good policies are embraced for good governance, stability and progress of the region and Nigeria as a whole.

He also said the North Central Peoples Forum is a platform with men and women from different works of life who have had the opportunity of serving this nation in various capacities and are ready to serve its people by giving it a voice to be heard.

The Forum commended Governor Lalong for all the efforts he has been making in keeping Plateau and thereafter inaugurated him into the college of PATRONS of the Forum that comprises of former Presidents, Head of State, Governors, Senate Presidents, Deputy Senate Presidents and Deputy Speakers of House of

Representatives.

In his response, Governor Lalong thanked the Forum for not relenting despite the challenges faced in seeing that the forum came into existence and stable.

The Governor Lalong described Gen Usaini as a man with the interest of Plateau and the Nation at heart, patriotic in nature who keeps political differences aside for the good of mankind, North Central and the Nation at

large.

He said it is timely to have the North Central Peoples Forum because other zones have equally formed their forum for the purpose of cooperation.

He called on all to imbibe the principle of peace which are anchored on justice and fairness without which there will be no peace, tolerance and goodwill that could stimulate the sharing of ideas on comparative advantage for the development of the North Central Zone.

He pledged commitment to the cause of the Forum and to support all programmes of the Forum with the believe that it will guide the zone through restoration of peace because once there is peace in the North Central Zone, there will be peace in Nigeria.

We Are Ready To Take Over Territories – Baptist Youths

Youths of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, NBC, has said that they were ready to take over territories which the Lord has given them in Nigeria and beyond.

The youths said that they have been equipped to take over religious, economic and political territories in their various constituencies through the word of God, prayers and active involvement at decision making levels.

This was contained in a communiqué of the 49th Annual Conference of the Nigerian Baptist Convention Youth Conference, NBCYC, held between Tuesday, August 3 and Saturday, August 7, 2021 at the Foursquare Gospel Church Campground, Ajebo, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway signed by the President and General Secretary, Pastor Onajite Enunuaye and Bro Job Emmanuel respectively.

The theme for the conference was “Taking Over Territories” (Joshua 1:1-8) and Rev Dr Jim Gotom was the Guest Speaker. Other speakers were the Convention President, Rev Dr Israel Akanji, Rev Dr S.A.K Olaleye, Rev Dr Adelokoji Ijaola, Rev Dr Israeli Kristilere, Rev J.S IbukunOluwa, Rev Bunmi Ayodele, Rev Mike Babatunde, Pastor Gosdpower Okitikpi, NBCYC President, Pastor Onajite Enunuaye and other anointed men of God.

They said that the Lord has given youths especially of Baptist extraction territories to take over for God’s glory but that this cannot happen unless and until youths acknowledge Jesus as their

Lord and savior.

The youths condemned the state of insecurity in Nigeria stressing that it has led to ‘economic hardship, famine, and loss of jobs in the country.’ They prayed for the release of the Bethel Baptist Secondary School students in Kaduna state and all other victims of kidnappers being held hostage while calling on the government to restructure the security system and make it technology driven to be

effective and efficient.

Baptist youths said that freedom of religion is a fundamental right as recognised by various international, regional and national laws including the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended and called on the government to protect this fundamental right.

They congratulated the new President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, Rev Dr Israel Akanji and appreciated him for his presence at the Conference saying that they look forward to work with him while appreciating his predecessor who is currently the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Rev Dr Samson Supo Ayokunle wishing him success in his future endeavours.

According to the communiqué, one of the major highlights of the conference included honouring of past leaders of NBCYC and individuals that have supported youths of the Nigerian Baptist Convention over the years and launching of a project titled “NBCYC Hall of Fame”. All awardees were enlisted in the NBCYC Hall of Fame. The youths also appreciated the outgoing Director, Students’ and Youths Ministries, Nigerian Baptist Convention, Rev Dr S.A.K Olaleye for his meritorious service to Baptist youths in the last decade.

The conference acknowledged modest achievements of the current leadership of the NBCYC especially in the “areas of mission, networking, and open leadership, deliberate efforts geared towards investment and equipping the Secretariat among others.”

The communiqué noted that the conference was impactful as seminars and workshops were organized on different thematic areas on spiritual growth, evangelism, leadership, health, business, relationship, education, conflict management, and empowerment among others with a view to equip Baptist youths towards 21st century challenges.

The youths were admonished to be relevant and actively be engaged in their local Churches, Associations, Conferences and ecumenical bodies.

The conference prayed for the peace and progress of Nigeria, Africa and the world at large while disclosing that the 50th National Annual Conference will hold in Eket, Akwa Ibom State in 2022.

Governor Simon Bako has decried the gruesome Killings of innocent people of Riyom and Bassa LG of Plateau State, as he asked the people of the state to find the softest part of their heart to forgive him of his short comings during the recent gruesome Killings of the people of Miango and Jebu Bassa of Jos North LG of Plateau State by suspected blood thirsty Fulani herdsman.

Lalong said the apology is necessary because as the Governor of the state who doubled as the chief Security officer , it’s my constitutional responsibility to protect lives and properties of all the citizens in the state.

The Governor Stated in his speech remark during the book launch of the president of the Church Christ In Nations (COCIN) Rev.Prof.Dacholom Datiri held at the Church Headquarters in Jos , plateau state capital.

The Governor Lalong added that no amount of explaination to convince the people of the state of the gruesome Killings of the innocent citizens of Riyom and Bassa LG of with little or no provocation by alledged fulanis herdsmen who didn’t wish the state well despite the frantic efforts in trying to sustain the relative peace been enjoyed for sometime

now.

He lamented the state of helpless security who watched as these innocent people were being killed in cold blood despite the provisions of logistics few weeks ago.

“Some few weeks ago,we bought Fifty Operational vehicles and over two hundred motorcycles to all the Security Agencies in the state with the bid in assisting them in the fight against crimes and criminality in the

state.

“It is regrettable that less than three weeks after the presentation of the logistics to them the Security Agencies in the state, this ugly incident happened “.

Governor Lalong however debunked the insinuation from some quarters that the government is not serious with security of the state as nobody have been arrested to face the law since the beginning of the Killings to serve as deterant that is why the attacks, killings and burning of house by those arsonist continued

unabated.

However assured the people of Plateau State that the government will not rest on its oars until it gets to the root of the recent Killings of the Communities in Miango and Bassa local Government of the state .

Lalong called on sons and daughters of the state to keep their difference aside, and come together to resist all the force that never wish plateau state hitherto know for it’s peace and tourism well.

On the planned revocation of the license of the approved Kakum University by the National University commission, Lalong said it will be a disgrace to the state that after the federal government has approved the commencement of the university which is suppose to have commence academic activities,we will allow our Political and other tribal sentiment destroy our hard

earned academic treasure.

And called on the board of trustees of the University to as matter of augency march words with action to ensure the revocation of the approved license of the Institution is restored, promised to also put pressure from the government end,but begged the people of Plateau to forget their Political difference and unite to ensure this citadel of learning doesn’t taking away from the state.

The Governor described the author of the Four religious books as his mentor and advicer whose advice has contributed to the good Government the people of the state are currently enjoying.

He called on those who graced the occasion to ensure they get copies of the book which will help to shape their spiritual life.

The chairman of the state traditional council and the Gbong Gwom of Jos called on the people of the state to rally round their brothers and sisters who were recently displayed by these fulanis militias whose interior motives is to extaminate the people of plateau and take over their ancestral land.

He decried the incessant attack on his people and the went on destruction of their various house and farm produce.

Gbong Gwom Jos called on the state and federal government to come to the aid of the attacked victims in providing them with food, cloth and shelter.

And called on governor Bako Lalong to get to the root of the problems in view of addressing the immediate and if possible, remote causes of the incessant attack on my people.

In fact I was the only consensus candidate by PDP caucus .

Consensus didn’t know tribe, religion,race and consensus was adopted by the 14 ward in Jos North local government namely,Abana Shehu,Sarki Arab,Ali Kazaure,Tafawa Balewa ,Vandapuye ,Abrahim Kashim,Garuba Daho, and Jenta Apata.

Other wards that adopted me as their consensus candidate were Jenta Adamu,Naraguta A&B and Jos Jarawa.

The party at the local government level in all the wards endorsed my candidature for the local government council election.

He further said ,we didn’t just allowed out right endorsement ,we followed party guidelines through affirmations .

The event took place at kent hotel along Tudu Wada Road opposite officers mess in Jos North LG where the affirmation was done and the election could not hold in those four local government council ,Jos North, South,Barki Ladi and Riyom the reasons were adduced by PLASIEC which is responsible for the Conduct and supervision of the election in the state were because of insecurity and the covid-19 reasons.

He further stressed that the party in the state made some frantic efforts to ensure that PLASIEC conduct election in the affected LG but that could not happen.

Aminu, however, lamented that after three years, PLASIEC is yet not able to conduct elections in those affected local government in the state as they always attributed their actions to the insecurity in those four local governments .

We applied pressure to make the government change his mind,but the only thing we couldn’t do is to go to court , because if we do,we will be playing Into their hand , since it appeared they were not ready to conduct the election,it would be prejudicial to conduct elections when the matter is pending in court.

Based on the above-mentioned reasons ,so we technically avoid the option of going to court, thinking that the pressure we are putting on them through public demand like talking to federal government , approaching the court reminding them of such Court judgment that have been given like that of Kwara State were the court compelled the INEC to conduct the local government elections in the state,this is with the view of cajoling governor.

He lamented that today, Aminu zang is saying he is not running again , some group of people said it should have been handed over to them , they should be out of their mind,politics is not like that

It was all about consensus ,at a point I said I wasn’t running for the position again that I am no longer interested contesting three years after,I called the Party to intimate them why I didn’t want to contest again the reasons why I said I wont contest again.

He said it’s the characteristics and character of PDP , usually we don’t go to Congresses open ended we sit down as family and agreed usually one sets of form where bought and by the time we settled on the candidate,those who will aspire and those who will eventually emerge as the officials, they have been giving one forms each.

Aminu who put the cost of the forms at 44 million said the set of officials put the money together , bought the forms which they claimed they obtained loan from United Bank of Africa (UBA) which they said it was the chairman of Langtang North that bought the forms on behalf of the Party then.

After the resolution of how the money for the forms is going to be paid back,it was typical of us that the money is going to be paid to (UBA) while individual aspirant will then go there to collectthe form.

Useni group bought Into the idea because there was that clear cut dichotomy between Useni group and David Jang group as Senator Jang Group took absolute charge of the forms that were funded by the elected officials at the detriment of those in Useni group .

He Condemned the action of some group of people who assumed the position of Demi god, sat down collected those forms and said until you are in their good book,you will not be part of benefiting from the vendor forms.

Characteristically in Jos North,Hon.Aminu said we sat down,saw a new sets of people from where God knows,emerged from nowhere and thought they can exclude everybody else only them will now decide who be a beneficiary of those forms.

In Jos North for instance,we have Nine Communities based officials they are ,Anaguta Berom ,Afizere Ibos,and the Yorubas Communities. These Communities will then in turn called the people and then agreed on the distribution pattern of these forms.

It is very imperative to point out here that who get what in the distribution pattern we be determined by the Communities themselves.

Some tribes which I don’t want to mention in this interview ,in the fury of their power given to them I don’t know by who , which I don’t believe it is God.

In the previous sharing formula, Anaguta use to have 3 position , Afizere 3 and this time reverse is the case as Berom alone have 5 positions Anaguta and Afizere 1 each and also decide who will be the person.

Aminu said some of us said it is an injustice that we will not allow it to stay ,we decided that something was wrong that is why we went to approach the court to remedy this anomalies .

On my own I went to Abuja ,to buy forms before the closing date for the entire Jos North which cost me about 2.8 million naira.

I then called the Nine Communities ,asked them the hitherto distribution pattern ,let maintain the status quo because we are now in opposition Party and we can not afford internal issue that are capable of causing disharmony between members of the family.

So we distributed the forms,as I speak with you now, some of the Communities where able to pay back ,at the end, what I was able to garner is Five Hundred Thousand Naira out of 2.8 million naira.

When the election was finally fixed behind Godon Hotel the formal Jossy Royal Hotel these people refused to come , instead formed parallel venue in Jos South LG at Utokon Road called Ray View.

We called the PLASIEC officials to come , when they finally came,they denied fixing the venue at Ray View .

Our boys rushed to the venue at Jos South , brought the boys who where already busy filling forms arrested them and brought them behind Godon Hotel.

All the PLASIEC officials where there and accreditation started only for soldiers to invade the venue of the election around 5pm when accreditation was almost over with excuse that we cannot continue with the election with the flimsy excuses because there is covid-19 pandemic and even arrested some of our members like Yakubu Choji and some other persons who where taken to STF.

As that was not enough,they went ahead to doctored some list they sent to Abuja which they said was the purported Congresses that was held in Jos.

One the allegation that me,I romance with the APC Government in the state,and the rumour that me Aminu Zang is planning to decamp to APC,I think that is the infringement of the imagination of of the brain of those who want to spoil my name and my Political ambition which has took me many years to built through Political hard work and transparency of the numerous Political offices I had occupied over the years.

It may interest you to know that we have an association which cut across all Political party’s.

It’s non Political association made up of APC, PDP and other Political members and it is call Association of commissioners and Senior Assistance (COMSA).

The major objective of the association is to socialize and assist one another in the group, for example during birthday celebration, child birth, marriage and death or bereavement .

In that association, members are made to contribute during weeding, bereavement which ranges from five thousand to fifty thousand depends on the occasion.

Aminu zang said those behind the rumour are my Political distrators who didn’t have anything reasonable to do .

They also alleged of me romancing with His Excellency Bako Lalong collecting money from him buying fleet of exotics cars that is not true .

It is imperative for them to know that I am business man aside of Politics ,I am into Politics as a voice to my Community’s who are voiceless .

I am not like those of them whose main occupation is politics nothing else,

Hon. Ubandoma Laven Urges Court To Stop APC, PLASIEC From Conducting Langtang North LG Election.

The claimant Counsel, Niri Darong, on Friday 6th August,21says the matter was adjourned today for hearing on motion notice of their interlocutory injunction served before the defendants, but the claimant /Applicant was just served yesterday 5th of

August,2021.

We pray the court to entertain this suit after a long filing, but due to the circumstances we are asking for a short date to respond.

The following include, state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Governor Simon Lalong, and Attorney General of the State as 2nd, 3rd, and 4th defendants.

The Chairman of PLASIEC Hon Fibia Ntung Ari has fixed the council polls in October including Langtang North LGA, whose chairman is only in the second year in office of court his mandatory three-year tenure having sworn a year after others in 2019.

Joshua-Laven, in a motion on notice filed before Justice Ishaku Kunda of State High Court 5, said that his action was in pursuance to order 42 and 43 of the Plateau State High Court (civil procedure) rule 2020, section 7 of Construction of the Federal Government 1999 (as amended) and section 38 of LGA Laws 2016 and section 18 of State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) 2016.

Joshua-Laven explained that Plateau State, Local Government Council Election Appeal Tribunal declared him to be the duly elected Chairman of Langtang North Local Government Council by its judgment of 19th July 2019 for 3 years tenure but there is a plot to truncate the court process.

He said that PLASIEC then issued him with a Certificate of Return on the 17th October 2019 while Governor Lalong administered the Oath of Allegiance and Oath of Office to him on the 9th October 2019.

“The tenure of the Applicant as Chairman of Langtang North Local Government Council under section 38 of the Plateau State, Local Government Council Law, 2016, is for three (3) years effective from the date he took the Oath of Allegiance and Oath of Office.

“But the Respondents have fixed 9th October 2021 as the date to conduct election into the Office of Chairman of Langtang North Local Government Council, among others.

“If not restrained, the Respondents would truncate the statutory three-year tenure of the Applicant,” Joshua-Laven argued.

Consequently, Joshua-Laven is seeking for “an order of this Honourable Court for an interlocutory injunction restraining the defendants by themselves, their agents, representatives or privies from doing anything or taking steps towards conducting elections into the office of Chairman of Langtang North Local Government Council on 9th October 2021 pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit.”

He was also seeking an order of the Court for a mandatory injunction restraining the defendants, their agents, or privies from doing anything or taking any step prejudicial to his Office pending the determination of the substantive suit.

When the case came up for mention before Justice Ishaku Kunda on Friday, adjourned the hearing to the 17th August 2021 for ruling on the motion of injunction.

However, counsel to the defendants Barr. Fidelis.Kaatpo didn’t oppose the application for adjournment sought by the Applicant, Claimant.

You would recall that all the defendants and their Counsels were absent on the first appearance has not been served with the hearing notices.

” My Lord, it’s unfortunate that none of the defendants’ Counsel is in Court today, even though we have served them with our motion on notice,” Darong told the Court

“However the clerk of the court just informed us that the 1st respondent has filed a counter-affidavit in reply to our motion, but that copies were not provided for service on us today,” he explained.

The Judge expressed shock at the flaunting of his earlier order that the hearing notice be attached to the motion on notice served on the Respondents.

Darong then noted that considering the circumstance, the case could not go on and he quickly applied for an adjournment to enable the court to serve them (defendants) with hearing notices.”

The SAN of Nigeria made the statement in an interview with newsmen at the State High Court premises immediately after the court sitting ona case between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) has again been adjourned to the 11^th of August, 2021, for hearing, by the Plateau State High Court.

The presiding Judge, Hon. Justice Ishaku Kunda, in adjourning for hearing after listening to the submissions of the Counsels in the matter said, It is to enable parties respond to processes served on them in Court this

morning.

He said, “The sum total shows that, both parties need time to respond to the Motion and other processes served on them this morning. I allow the application for adjournment.

“It appears that, the Court has to deal with the Notice first.”

The crucial Application that was served by PLASIEC that gave rise to the adjournment it was gathered is a Motion filed on its behalf by its Counsel, G. S. Pwul (SAN), requesting the Court to adjourn the hearing of the matter to a date after the on-going vacation.

Explaining the action of PLASIEC and the Motion filed for the adjournment, Pwul (SAN) in his adumbration, said, the ongoing matter is not a “Vacation Matter” hence, should not be treated as such”.

Speaking to Journalists in an On-the Spot interview, Puwl added that, “There was no Application moved due to the fact that, we have filed an Application asking the Judge not to sit on this matter during vacation because, it is not a vacation matter.

“During Court vacation, normal Court proceedings are not entertained. Vacation is meant for both Lawyers and Judges to be at rest and from Court proceedings.

“There are situations where matters are entertained during vacation. These are special cases provided for by the rules of Court.

“This is why we drew the attention of his lordship to the fact that, this case should not be entertained during vacation. Court proceedings are done through filing processes.

“We filed Motions during vacations, but this is not a vacation matter, therefore, it should be adjourned beyond vacation period in order to deal with the matter on merit.

“This is not a layman issue. We don’t do court proceedings either to please or satisfy the layman. We are much after justice of the situation and also adhering to the rules of Court. We do not do Court proceedings to play to the gallery”.

In his reaction, lead Counsel for the PDP, E. G. Pwajok (SAN) flagged by other Lawyers, while explaining the party’s thinking of what happened in Court said, “The Motion for the Court to adjourn the proceedings after the vacation to us was brought with ought most bad faith.

They know and we told the Court that, PLSAIEC has fixed the LG election for 2^nd October, 2021.

So, if you are saying that, the matter should be adjourned, may be towards the end of September that means, they want to consolidate their decision to exclude the PDP from contesting the elections.

“Now, the question that should be asked is, is PLASIEC not suppose to independent, are they not suppose to be neutral?

“This action does not show neutrality, to request for an adjournment till after the vacation! The question is, what are they doing now?

“

As a matter of fact, they have engaged the services of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). Therefore, it is not PLASIEC that is going to be arguing the matter. Why then are they afraid that they don’t want the matter to be heard? Since they have engaged a Lawyer, they should allow the Lawyer do his job.

“This is why we are not happy. We are however happy that the Court in its wisdom has given us a short adjournment.

“If they think that, their delay tactic would help them, they should know that, they can run, but cannot hide.

“PLASIEC, is a government agency, they are supposed to be representing the people of Plateau State because, it is funded by the people, including you and I and therefore, not answerable to other masters somewhere.

“With what they are doing now, they are showing that, they are part of the players instead of being a referee and an independent umpire.

“What they are doing is rubbishing our democracy and their independence”

Plateau APC And It’s Shameful Ward Congress.

If what goes up must come down in line with the law of nature, then it equally behoves that what a people sow they must reap.

Public predictions and prophecies on Plateau Apc has even come to pass more than expected. Its only a matter of time that the burial of the worst party ever to rule Plateau will be done.

*Was there any Apc ward congress on the Plateau*? Was it done by forceful consensus or consensual consensus?

Am not an Apc member and can never be one by God’s grace, but as a critical commentator and political analyst, its not good to keep quite and watch the abominable happen without good people talking.

Lalong has taken Plateau for a ride and the elders of his drowning party have cowardly kept quite and watch a young man destroy the state through incompetent misgovernance.

Such a thing can never happen under a PDP government or any civilised government.

Now that every system is almost collapsing and sensing that the governor has clearly gone out of radar ready to abandon them, the elders have started meeting within their various tribal, ethnic and political caucuses.

*Was there truly a ward Congress of the APC across the 207 electoral ward head quarters in the state as scheduled by the mai mala Buni led extraordinary caretaker executive*?

Findings across the state revealed that there was no such an exercise anywhere on the Plateau apart from Governor Lalong’s visit to some parts of Jos North together with the Deputy speaker, Idris Wase, Minister Pauline Tallen and his secretary of state Prof Atu in particular to gangare, and Ibrahim kastina of Jos north local government where the Governor led his team on a weekend visit.

*Or was it where the entire members of the 207 electoral ward of the APC across the state gathered for the 2021 ward Congresses*?

Its clear the party (APC) in its usual character resorted to its preferred ” lawn tennis court Approach ” through which names of Governor Lalong’s loyalists were handpicked by his commissioners, compiled and imposed on its members as their party officials?

This act of political lawlessness and show of arrogance going on in the APC has rendered the party unfit to be an alternative platform to the peoples Democratic party(PDP) in the state and Nigeria at large within our current democratic system.

Plateau people, in particular are desirous of the development and maturity of the political process as obtained under a robust democratic system. People are concern that the increasing confusion, lack of focus of the APC in the state and the nation represents a deficit to democratic principles and incapacity to run the affairs of governance in the state,

If a party lacks such capacity to run its own party affairs or willing to obey simple rules, its own constitution or that of the federal republic of Nigeria, how then do you expect good governance from such people who lack leadership virtues and attributes such as,transparency, self discipline, honesty and patriotism?

The APC should stop destroying the psyche of our hard earned democratic process with their round of fake ward Congress that is even against its own constitution. APC should please for once live up to its constitutional responsibility to the people of plateau state as a political party.

*When will Lalong do the right thing and set good example for his subjects*? Six years down the lane and two years to go, the situation is getting worst with insecurity everywhere. Plateau people have given up on its present government and praying that they remain alive to witness 2023.

Jos Is Calm,No Cause For Alarm As Normalcy Is Restored To Gada Biyu .

Jos, the capital city of Plateau State is calm and peaceful as there is no cause for alarm. The breach of peace reported around Gada Biyu, Jos North LGA has been put under control following swift response by security agencies.

The security personnel responded to the incident where some youths reportedly obstructed traffic and set ablaze two trucks on the highway.

The intervention of the security personnel immediately brought the situation under control as the youths were dispersed and the road cleared, thereby restoring traffic flow.

With the return of normalcy around Gada Biyu and environs, the Government is urging citizens to avoid any act that could lead to the breakdown of law and order.

Meanwhile, security forces have continued their operations to dominate areas affected by recent attacks in Bassa and Riyom LGAs with a view to restoring normalcy and arresting perpetrators as directed by Governor Simon Lalong after an emergency Security Council Meeting.

Plateau Security Council Orders Security Troops To Dominate Vulnerable Areas In Bassa And Riyom LGs And Arrest Attackers At All Costs.

After over three hours of deliberations behind closed doors, the Plateau State Security Council rose from its emergency meeting with a directive by Governor Simon Lalong to the security agencies in the State to take full control of all vulnerable in Bassa and Riyom LGAs and clear the attackers that have parpetrated mayhem within the areas.

Briefing newsmen after the meeting, Commissioner of Police Edward Egbuka said the Governor after receiving full briefs from the various security organs in the State and after exhaustive review of the situation, gave marching orders to the Police, Operation Safe Haven, Nigerian Army, DSS, Civil Defence, NSCDC and other collaborating agencies to reinforce and contain the situation without further delay.

According to CP Egbuka, “The meeting basically reviewed the fallout of events within the last 48 hours where there were attacks specifically at Jebbu Miango. From our records as at Saturday night the 31st of July 2021, five people were killed while about 85 buildings were burnt. The next morning, the attacks still persisted. From intelligence, the attackers are militia brought from outside the State.

The attacks continued in Tamburam, Riyom LGA where unfortunately twelve people were also killed and some houses destroyed and again at Maiyanga. We lost some security personnel at Maiyanga and Riyom”.

Egbuka said although security agencies have deployed men on the ground coping with the situation, the Governor has directed them to do everything possible to bring the situation under control within the next 48 hours and arrest all the perpetrators.

“This is the sound of warning to the people involved in perpetrating this violent acts. The leaders will be arrested. There are records of leaders that are on bail temporarily, and some of them have been fingered in this present attacks. Nobody will be spared. Human life is sacrosanct and nobody can take it at will. There is a Government in place and it will not accept lawlessness” the CP said.

He assured the citizens that the directives of the Government will be swiftly carried out as the security agencies will further strategise and reinforce to contain the situation, arrest the attackers and bring them to account.

The meeting also resolved to enhance engagement and collaboration with informal security groups such as the vigilante, community watch groups, hunters association and community leaders for enhanced intelligence gathering.

The Governor during the meeting again sympathised with the victims and also reiterated his directive for immediate assessment of the humanitarian needs and assistance to affected people by State Emergency Management Agency once the security agencies contain the situation. Further engagements will then follow by the Peace Building Agency.

The meeting chaired by the Governor was attended by the Deputy Governor Prof. Sonni Tyoden, Secretary to Government of the State Prof. Danladi Atu, Chief of Staff Noel Donjur, Chairman, Plateau Council of Traditional Rulers and Emirs, His Majesty Da Jacob Gyang Buba, the Gbong Gwom Jos, GOC 3rd Armoured Division and Commander Operation Safe Haven, Garrison Commander, Commander 551 NAF Station Jos, Coordinator Operation Rainbow, Director DSS, Commandant NSCDC, as well as Commanders of NDLEA, Immigration Service and Correctional Service. The Chairmen of Riyom and Bassa LGAs and the DG Peace Building Agency were also in attendance.
