The Former Minister of Sport and Youths  Development said the current economic and food crisis facing the country is not without solutions that is if the person at the steering of the Nation’s leadership as president ,Bola Ahmed Tinubu has the will power to implement the policy which may involve the president  to step on ‘Big Toes’ if he want to achieve the desired goal.

Solomon Dalung willing to offer the candid advice to Mr President in an interview with Journalists on the economic and food crisis bedeviling the country in resent time at his residence along Bukuru Road in Jos South Local Government of the state. 

He said the worst appointment you will ever accept in Africa , is Special Adviser, because what ever advice you give can be rubbish by incompetent and viral person who is strategically position in the corridor of power of Mr president.

However, as critics I can still offer solutions to avoid exposing myself as just an ignorant person who only know how to criticize without proffering solutions.

As against the backdrop, he said I am going to advise by saying that the president should put behind him all the bitterness , all the electioneering bitterness and see himself first the leader of Nigeria not APC.

Further add that because the president is seeming himself first as APC president and second as Yoruba  leader, this two dispositions are definitely under his capacity to provide leadership for Nigeria , so he must convince himself that he is the leader of Nigeria .

So he have to revisit his oath of office as the president of the country especially that paragraph that says  I would do justice to all manner of persons without fear, favor , argued the president to continue to rehearse it ,and add it as one of the “Rakka” prayers ,he would succeed.

The Igbarman of Tarok  said the president must deliberately crash the astronomical increase of food stuffs and prices of petroleum  products in the market, he most crash it possibly to #200 Naira per litre, ones this is done, this is going to be a policy in the interim to do with the food and petroleum astronomical price crisis.

Stressed that ones the president crashed the prices of food and petroleum products in the market every other thing will queue -up.

Said as he is crashing the prices of the commodities in the market, there should be a comprehensive reform of the petroleum industry defining the relationship of the government and other private actors especially the emerging Dangote refinery .

Barrister Dalung said Tinubu most be willing to do away with most of his current inefficient appointees whose  their mission in the government is to enrich themselves and cronies. 

He said president Tinubu led government must be involve in deliberate negotiations as have come with the policy that would define the relationship on the process of productions, acquisition, of the product and distribution to Nigerians who are to take over the crashing of the prices of petroleum products.

So you will now have prices crash down, with the new partnerships, the sector will now define a new price regime and other engagements done to stabilize the system.

On the food insecurity in the country, Dalung  charged Tinubu led administration to also walk towards crashing the prices of food stuffs , mopping up grains in the market and if that is insufficient, the government should import and sell at subsidized price to the general public.

In doing that, the foodd will become cheaper and the market forces will now be compel to align with the current government policies.

For example , if the government is selling bag of rice at 20,000 naira per bag, of course you are free to sell your own at 80,000 naira by then the consumers will know where to buy.

With this practice Dalung said it will help to stabilize the food prices in the market so the government have to come out with strategic policy to revolutionize agriculture which will include the provision of input , Short loans to real farmers, and the loans should be categorize to deal with the nature of the farming system we have.

Add that farmers with large  scale agricultural products will be entitled to higher loan , why farmers with substance agriculture will be assisted with loans for them to develop , you will now have massive food production.

He also advised the government of Ahmed Tinubu to be deeply involve in food production , advised the government to revisit those government agencies hitherto involved in food production in the country that had helped in the availability of food production in the past.

Advised the federal government to encourage the production of Cash crops in the Northern Nigeria like groundnut, Cotton, Rice, and Maize production in large scale.

The government should encourage the production of palm oil and cocoa in the southern part of the country.

This deliberate policy of the government will now laid a solid foundation to food sustenance in the country .

This can be possible if there is commitment on the side of the government to appoint honest, and sincere Nigerians to manage these policy, but if it’s going to be base on political patronage, we are going back to square one Dalung maintained.
