Plateau Stakeholders’ Town Hall Meeting On Citizens Budget Engagement , Hon. Samuel Dala Umaru Lauded Initiative, promise Communities Adequate Govt. Attention.

The Transition Implementation Chairman (TIC)of Jos North local government of plateau state Samson Umaru Dala has lauded Governor mutfwang administration and ministry of budget and economic planing for organizing stakeholders ‘town hall meeting on the citizens engagement in the State budgeting process.

As he said the engagement on the citizens in relation to the state budgeting process,  will help to sanitize the people of the council by extension the State at large the consciousness educating them the role to play in budgeting process.

The Transition Implementation Chairman in Jos North LGC Samson  Umaru stated this in an interview with Journalists during Northern Zone stakeholders Town Hall Meeting on Citizens Engagement on  budgeting process held at Crest Hotel 17th April 2024.

The Transition chairman said when you are aware that Certain items are in the budget , it is the responsibility of the citizens to follow up with those things and ensure they are being implemented and make people accountable.

He stressed that the program is a laudable thing which has not been done before , engaging people, creating awareness for the people to know and aware of items  contained in the budget for them to ask questions during implementation for them to ask questions. 

On the absence of some people orientated projects in some areas of the council like portable drinking water in some communities like Jenta Adamu, he promised  the council under his administration will make sure that those facilities are taken to them. 

He said when the Caleb Mutfwang administration came on board as the governor of the state, we discovered that Jenta Adamu to be specific has challenges of portable drinking water ,we embarked on provisions of motorized bole holes for the community but the only challenges is proximity on the facilities.

But stressed that the Jenta Adamu in question has started enjoying portable drinking water.

That is not to say that some of the communities are not still grappling with shortages of portable water supply.

However promised that the government of Caleb Mutfwang is trying hard to see that the issue of portable drinking water in the affected areas in plateau north will sooner or later be a thing of the past.

Speaking earlier, the commissioner of Budget and Economic Planing in the State, Honorable Chrisanthus Dawan said  governor Mutfwang led administration is strive to leave delible positive mark in the lives of the citizens after successful completion of the process.

He said the basis of the meeting is to strengthen transparency, accountability , and substantiality in good Governance as well as to gain government confidence in the implementation of the budget. 

Further stressed said as a new government , our desire and passion for the state is to leave an indelible mark in the lives of the citizens as after a successful completion of the process.

Stressed further that the citizens of Plateau State are the targeted audience of governments budgetary policies and programs whom their involvement at the preparative stage cannot be over emphasized .

He Urged the participants to support the policies and make inputs towards the achievement of the said goal, especially in the area of improving the Internal Generated Revenue (IGR) profile of the state .

Reiterated Governor Mutfwang’s administration is not unmindful of his responsibility to the good citizens of the state.

Stressed that he will not relent despite all challenges but to remain focus and rise to the occasion . Maintained  that the government of Caleb Mutfwang is aware of the economic hardship the citizens of the state by extension Nigeria are currently pasting through as a result of subsidy removal which translate to an increase in the pump price of petroleum products, as well as multiplier effects on the prices of goods and services in our open markets. 

The Commissioner commended the Governor  Mutfwang for not relenting to transform the state cutting across all sectors of the economy despite all the challenges.

Called on the citizens of the state to be security conscious at all times in view of the security challenges bedeviling the state in particular , and Nigeria in general.
