NITP To Interface With PLHA Over Impending Bill.

Nigeria institute of Town Planners (NITP) plateau state chapter is to set up Committee to interface with the state House of Assembly over the state urban and regional Planning Bill before the State House of Assembly.
This is because it is on record that the Bill has been pending before the House of Assembly for quite a long time, reason beyond our control, as the out going administration has made Concerted efforts to get bill through to no avail.
The New Chairman of (NITP) Samuel Adamu Chung made the promise in his acceptance speech as the New Chairman of Nigeria Institute Of Town Planners held at the Jos North LG Secretariat Jos, plateau state capital.
Adamu said as the state chairman of the Institute,l would pursue the programs of the Institute with all seriousness and I would not relent in my efforts in achieving set goals of objectives.And therefore solicited the support and loyalty of all the members of the Institute to pilot the affairs of the state chapter of (NITP).
The chairman said another of his immediate concern as the New Chairman of the Institute now, is the acquisition of land for the Institute’s Secretariat.
The Secretariat is the engine room of any professional body ,it’s of uttermost importance that land is acquired for our Secretariat for outmost performance,as the body intend to use the proceeds of the dinner Night/Dairy lunch for the purpose.
The chairman raised concern for lack of standing Financial Bye Law guiding the body,as against the backdrop the chairman has said during his tenure as the chairman,he is going to develop a bye law and financial regulation that would be the rules that would be adopted by the chapter to control the actions of members.
Samuel Chung promised to consolidate and substain the programmes of the out going leadership which includes media chart ,paper presentation , visits to MDA’s Career talk with students, Dinner Night and Dairy Launch.
And promised to improve communication with the members who are in and outside Government and those in private sector.
The out going chairman of the Institute,Kafas John Yilwang reeled our the achievement of the Institute under his watch which includes,the approval of plateau state urban and regional law, hosting of a meeting of senior members, hosting of the National president of Town Planners, organized a successful stakeholders forum and production of dairy of the state chapters.
Other achievements of Mr John yilrwang includes receiving Merit Award, organizing two successive meri awards,and carried out oral interview for Members.
The outgoing chairman said the challenges of the institution under his watch includes, the long period of lock down occasion by the effects of covid-19 pandemic,as against this backdrop,the Committee set up could not function to do the reasons why they where set up.
And the yet to be passed into law Plateau state Urban and Regional Planning law and Greater Jos Master Plan remain topical instruments that can advance physical Planing in the state.These two are critical towards redressing the present haphazard physical growth of our cities.
