The Employers Association for Private Employment Agencies of Nigeria (EAPEAN) applauds the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) on their recent successful operation and rescue of seven suspected victims of human trafficking in Abuja,Nigeria.
“We strongly commend NAPTIP under the able leadership of Binta Adamu Bello for their tireless efforts in combating human trafficking. Their dedication to protecting vulnerable individuals from exploitation is truly commendable,” said Dr. Olufemi Ogunlowo, President of EAPEAN.
The recent operation highlights the dangers of patronizing unlicensed recruiters who disregard the rules and regulations governing recruitment. “These unscrupulous individuals prey on vulnerable job seekers, putting their lives at risk, warned Ogunlowo. “It is therefore essential that job seekers exercise caution when dealing with recruitment agencies and report any suspicious activities to the relevant authorities.”
Furthermore, the Employers Association for Private Employment Agencies of Nigeria (EAPEAN) is calling on the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) to intensify its efforts in combating human trafficking.
Specifically, EAPEAN is urging NAPTIP to focus on major international airports, such as the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, and Aminu Kano International Airport, which are being exploited by unscrupulous operators in the industry.
To protect Nigerians from falling victim to human trafficking, EAPEAN advises individuals seeking international employment opportunities to work only with licensed international recruiters. “It is crucial that intending migrants ask questions about the company deploying them to work abroad,” emphasized EAPEAN.
As the umbrella organization for licensed Private Employment Agencies (PEAs) in Nigeria, EAPEAN promotes International Labour Organisation (ILO) standards and ethical practices in the recruitment, deployment, and management of outsourced personnel.
In partnership with international organizations like the ILO and IOM, EAPEAN works to standardize the PEA industry and ensure best practices. EAPEAN remains committed to protecting the rights and interests of Nigerian workers.
Ogunlowo urges job seekers to be vigilant and report suspicious activities to NAPTIP or other relevant authorities. “Together, we can make a difference and create a safer and more just society for all,” concluded Ogunlowo.
The chairman of Riyom local government of plateau state hon.Sati Bature Shuwa,has promise to deliver the dividend of democracy to the door steps of the people of the local government,and adviced the citizens of the council to give governor Mutfwang’s administration Unalloyed support to achieve the desired goal.
As the council chairman Sati Bature promise to change the face of the LG to reflect democratic dividend that would give the people of the local government through sense of democracy as the council has so far met with critical stakeholders and Government agencies to ensure they speak with one voice that would be loud to attract government attention to the local government.
The Chairman hon. Sati Bature Shuwa made the promise in his speech during the northern Zones day at the ongoing Plateau State Trade Fair taking place at Polo field in Jos , plateau state.
Shuwa Represented by his secretary Hon.Abraham Tonjing lauded his appointment as secretary of the council because it gives him the opportunity to do new things different from his background as Broadcaster for the past three decades ,in addition trying to ensure he contribute his quarter to the development of the council by bringing new things to the table.
Hon. Tonjing lament the pockets of attacks Riyom local Government has gone through over the years, but thank God , peace have finally return to the council as it’s currently doing well, with constant holding of security meetings with critical stakeholders to ensure that.Riyom remain peaceful.

Stressed that the efforts of the present chairman hon. Bature Shuwa is to build on the achievements of the past administrations of the council.

The plan of the local government council is to bring the dividend of democracy to the door steps of average Riyom citizens in particular and Plateau in general.

However adviced them to support the government of Barrister Caleb Mutfwang for progress and development.
In keeping his promises for a robust legislation and representation of his Constituency at the Green Chamber of the National Assembly, the member representing Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency, Hon. Daniel Asama Ago, initiated four bills for constitution amendment which have passed Second Reading and reached Committee stage for scrutiny.

-Defining, Criminalizing Torture and Inhuman Treatment; this seeks defining Acts that constitute Torture, Inhuman, or Degrading treatment, and Related Matters.
The aim is to strengthen Nigeria’s Human Rights framework by clearly defining and criminalizing Acts of Torture and Inhuman Treatment, ensuring better protection for Citizens against abuses by State and non-state actors.
-Strengthening Human Rights Treaty:
This bill seeks to ensure that Human Rights Treaties Ratified by Nigeria are properly integrated into Domestic Law, providing a framework for their effective application in Governance and Judicial Matters.
-Free, Compulsory, and Universal Basic Education as a Fundamental Right.
–This bill was co-sponsored with the Speaker House of Reps, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen (APC), member representing Zaria Constituency, and seeks to enshrine Free and Compulsory Basic Education as Fundamental Human Right, ensuring that every Nigerian child has access to quality Education without financial barriers.
-Citizenship Rights and Inclusion of Youths & Women in Leadership;
The bill was co-sponsored with Hon. Kafilat Ogbara (APC), representing Kosefe Federal Constituency, and is to address the long-standing Gender Inequalities in Nigerian Citizenship Laws.
It will ensure that foreign spouses of Nigerian women receive the same Citizenship Rights as those married to Nigerian men.
Additionally, it mandates increased inclusion of Women and Youths in Leadership positions.
Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of renowned actor Abdu Kano, widely known as Karkuzu, after a prolonged illness.

The Former Minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung made the disclosure in an exclusive interview with group of Journalists at his resident in Jos.
The Former Minister who was Governorship Candidate on the platform of Social Democratic Party (SDP),in 2023 General election in plateau State, further disclosed that contrary to speculation that Nigeria is drifting towards One Party State, its not true, because a party is an association of people with the same ideology , coming together for the furtherance of that ideology.
“We are not drifting to one party state, because a party is an association of people with common interests Nigerians has loss confidence on the political system.”
He further disclosed that these rigmarole referred to as movement of leadership from one political party to the other ,is the re-circling of the same group of people,.
He further add lcurrently , Nigeria are domesticated with Hunger,
Poverty and Hardships that is what Nigeria are,all the shouting about political parties, doesn’t enter into the ears of Nigerians,but they only listening to somebody that talk about those things affecting them.
” When you follow the social media keenly ,you will understand that Nigerians only react to those things affecting them,so political party now is poverty, hardship and hunger.”
He said Nigerians are currently repositioning themselves like watching football match, anywhere he is standing and not having good view of his player ,he change position so that he can see properly, that is what is happening currently , so there is nothing to worry about.
“2027 is not going to be determined by any formidable opposition party, Nigeria will defect President Tinubu, it happened in many countries ,it will be replicated in Nigeria.
He cited example of Senegal where a replical of President Tinubu was manipulating the electoral process,and didn’t want to religuish power, until the people give him good fight, that is what is going to happen in Nigeria.
“The people give him good fight,he continue prosponing the election, manipulating the constitution, trying to use the force,the people where dissatisfy they rejected him and removed him “.
” He was arresting oppositions just like what president Tinubu is doing now buying every voice to join the APC,in Senegal, it shall come to pass in Nigeria in 2027.”
On whether he is contemplating decamping from SDP,he said there is no reason ,or reasons for him to leave the party.
“SDP Remains the only formidable and credible political party in Nigeria today.Is the only alternative party that is organize ,and has what it’s take to challenge other political parties in the like of APC, PDP and others.”
The Former Minister of Sports during President Mohammedu Buhari Administration , Social Crusader for Good Governance in Nigeria Honourable Barrister Solomon Dalung has said contrary to promise by Plateau State Government to give Late Lt. Gen.JT Useni State burial ,what he witness on the 22nd February during the burial was not State burial ,but “State Bazaar”.
Solomon Dalung said this so because governor Caleb Mutfwang good and sincere intention for good Governance in plateau state is grossly abuse by his Aids he entrusted with sensitive responsibilities of delegation of authoritie, hence making the governor look derailing from his responsibility as governor of the state in the eyes of citizens of the state.
Solomon Dalung was speaking in an interview with journalists at his resident in Jos , Jos-South local Government on state of the Nation , Governor Mutfwang Performance in the state and other National issues.
Barrister Dalung who is Social Democratic Party (SDP), Governorship Candidate in 2023 general elections in plateau state lauded Governor Mutfwang performance so far on his efforts to bring dividends of democracy closer to the citizens of the state by constructions of New roads, rehabilitations of old ones,and provisions of transportation to help reduced hardship face by the people following the removal of fuel subsidy by Mr President.
Lamented that with the good intentions of governor Mutfwang ,some of his aids are working hard to truncate the good work of the governor to ensure they bring his efforts to naughty.
To buttressed his point,he give example of the recent burial of the elder stateman Lt.Gen.JT Useni’s held 22nd March 2025 .
He recalled governor Mutfwang condolence visit to the Late General’s resident how he promised to give the Late General a State burial.
“But regrettably, the burial of the late General was not State burial but”State Bazaar”,it became a Bazaar to the point that God in heaven was angry with the governor and disgraced him in the church.”
” Because,when he was speaking , heaven struck and the light went off because the governor’s men went bought (3) gallons of fuel for a huge generator”.
Meanwhile Over 1.7 Billion Naira was said to have been budgeted in the burial ,and they could not afford to fuel the generator sufficient enough.
“That tells you how reckless people working with governor Mutfwang are,and he was disappointed and disgraced before the whole nation.”
” He should learn a lesson from what happened to him in the church because heaven have spoken , when the light went off ,until when he finished speaking before the light come back.”
He revealed that it’s very significant prophecy , that governor Mutfwang need to consult to be guarded ,it is a very dangerous trend for his leadership.
” The state government promised they are going to rehabilitate the road from jos to Lantang,in honor of the Late General Useni before the burial.”
Dalung said what turned out was not governor Mutfwang,”because Mutfwang roads are everywhere in Jos ,you drove on one of Mutfwang road he rehabilitated leading to my house.”
” If Mutfwang promised rehabilitating roads, they cannot just go and dig stones and filled potholes , that is the meaning of Mutfwang rehabilitation of roads”.
He confessed benefiting from roads in the metropolis constructed by Mutfwang ,and he should be able to fight on that done by him”Except Mutfwang have change,he promised to renovate the house of the Late Gen.’s house in Lantang and Jos,all we saw is a clumsy and poor repainting of the late General’s house in Jos.
“As all these where not enough,the worst was they promised to uplift the utility facilities in the church to accommodate the numbers of people that would be on ground during the burial,no single facilities was changed,the only thing they did was to change those bulbs lights in the church.”
“I am not a Christian but a believer, with strong Communication with somebody ruling over the universe. “.
This covering up they succeeded in doing when God spoke to Mutfwang when he was speaking , however adviced him to listen to the voice of reasons, because if he doesn’t listen to the voice of reasons he will face bigger problems in the future.
“When I observe that
governor Mutfwang is derailing , when all these where happening I tried reaching out to the Governor,”
“I told him how he met well for the state and the people but unfortunately he is disappointed and betrayed by those he asked to do the jobs”
The Gberman Tarok said he remained the governor contrary to his earlier promise to give the Late General State burial, what they saw was not a state burial, but State Bazaar.
I also remained him ,as the Chief Executive of the state,he have all the weapon of power to investigate, which I quickly rundown everything for him in case he didn’t understand what I was saying.
“Let me tell you something that made me to share tears on the day of the burial of Useni,I went to his village ,under our tradition elders would receive traditional greetings and Condoles”.
“There were Over 600-700 elders across Tarok land , gathered ,and there was only 10 gallons of local brewed drink (burukutu),I have to cough out some money from my pocket and my friend that accompanied me to support them”.
“As Tarok man is an insult , those elders are our elders ,would all these things put together, could said to be state burial?” The answer is No.”
“I didn’t Sip a bottle of coke in the burial apart from a cup of palm wine offered me by the in law to the Late General.”
He questioned where then did the huge amount of money voted for the burial want?
“I have complained publicly ,I have come under attack, some of the men of the governor they didn’t know that attacking me is like giving me more power,they wouldn’t have done that.”
” Some of them accused me that because they didn’t make me member of the planing Committee , that is why l am fighting them”.
“Their answer suggest what they did, because if being a member of planing Committee is to serve, nobody would struggle to join”.
“They didn’t include me, because they knew they are going to share money,if I am there I will not agree, that is why they did not include me.”
“Their answer bring out their intentions,I am feeling bad for the governor,he is going down,and nobody is sincere enough , even the religious father flocking around him and compared them with the 400 false prophets in the Bible “.

On the ultimatum given to the governor to investigate the 1.7 Billion Naira burial of Late General Useni he said.
“I am the comrade General Heading the “Emancipation of Nigeria ,the movement is National Association with membership all over Nigeria.”
He further explained that the movement is committed to restoring the core value, democracy and the integrity of Nigeria as a nation, Transparency and justice.
Revealed that the movement is taking the issue of alleged misappropriation of 1.7 billion for the burial of the Late general seriously.
“This is because Late elder JT Useni is a state man and didn’t deserve what he got.”
Especially accountability which the core value is missing in the entire transaction.
We have first drawn the attention of the governor Caleb Mutfwang in our previous publication that the burial wasn’t state burial but “State Bazaar”,we invited him to probe the funeral committee and invite them to give public accounton how the money where spent.
“We did not hear from the governor, although we are not expecting his reply”.
“As against these backdrop,we role out Seven Days Ultimatum after then ,we Will deliver a well written petition to Efcc and other relevant agencies “.
” Inviting them to investigate a state burial which we know is a”State Bazaar,after their investigation , they would justify those who are right and wrong”.
We still stand by our Ultimatum,we are not going to renegade until will got accountability.
“If the committee come out with their accountability , obviously will are not probing them but failure to account to the public fund can be something else.” He said.
“I want to restate that we are not investigating them.”
The reasons why president Tinubu declared State of Emergency in River State is beginning to be clear to Nigerians who viewed the president hast decision from the angle of his desperate ambition for his re-election bid in 2027.
As President Tinubu threatened by losing River State which has huge electoral value in determining who becomes the president of Nigeria,and the “godson” of the president Wike has also loss his investments which is the major drama unfolding in River state.
The Former Minister of Sports Solomon Dalung revealed this in an interview with the press on the State of the Nation at his resident in Sabo Bariki Jos South local government of plateau state 23rd March 2025.
Dalung said the unilateral imposition of State of the Emergency in one of the richest oil producing State without recourse to consultations by Mr . President Ahmed Tinubu is unconstitutional, Unlawful, Tyrannical and above all detactorial.
He said the president action is unconstitutional because the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria didn’t contemplate it,as Section (1)Sub section (2) of the constitution provides that the constitution shall be Supreme and applicable to all authorities.
He condemned the appointment of Sole Administrator to replace a democratically elected governor ,the action of Mr President he described as gross violation of the constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria, which is not from the constitution,there is no where in the constitution Powers is defined, which automatically makes it unconstitutional.
He further disclosed that the action of the president declaring River State of Emergency also not know in law because the highest Court in Nigeria , Supreme Court has established Three criteria for declaring the state of emergency in any state of the Federation in the country.
This is followed by GoodLuck Jonathan in 2013; when he declared state of Emergency in Three States, which includes,Yobe,Adamawa and Borno state.In these case ,the political authority where intact, while military where deployed to deal with treats.
Stressed that declaration of state of Emergency is by mobilizing security aspect to deal with the very factors threatening the national integrity of the country , either public safety, security and external agression , these are the three the president hold on to.
Honourable Dalung was quick to add that he would not challenge the action of the President for now because the constitution vested discretion of assessing , evaluating these factors of Mr President and it’s derived law that ones a law vest discretion on a person, you cannot challenge how that decretion is exercised.
“But dismantling political Authority in River State, is the worst form of deractorship that can be ever imagined in any democracy”.
He said when similar situation happened ,the current Vice President of Nigeria, Shettima was then the governor of Borno,he was not remove from office as governor of the state,the action of the president is unlawful.
“The action of the president is detractoral because the president “SO MOTO” that is on his own , without prompting, just declared State of Emergency ,just held on to certain factors at best his own knowledge”.
Queried that if the factors the president relayed upon to declare State of Emergency in River State are applicable ,the questions begging for an answers is why did the president failed to declare state of emergency in Sokoto state, where 1st class traditional ruler was kidnapped and spend 21days in the camp of bandit and they were televising how they were torturing him in these period until they eventually killed him.
” And that same Sokoto state,bandits stacked over Hundred (100),Communities ,is that not worth declaring state of Emergency ? Why has the president failed to declare State of Emergency in Katsina,Kebi state where students of Federal Government College where adopted getting to a year now.
“Why has he not declare state of Emergency in Kasina, Zamfara,Niger, Kaduna , plateau , Nasarawa or Benue where there are cases of serious killings of innocence citizens in plateau state with over (100) people gruesomely massacred on the eve of Christmas.
The Former Minister of Sports further questioned if the protection of lives and properties are the priority of Mr President , why he didn’t declare the state of emergency in those states,he questioned.
“Why did President Tinubu did not declare state of Emergency in South East where criminal gang have practically held the South East hostage for more than three years, they have even imposed their laws which anybody that violated it should be ready to face dare consequences “.
” I Think, we will not find answers to these questions except that a situation is so extreme in River State because the president 2027 re-election bid is threatened by losing River State which has huge electoral value in determining who become the president of Nigeria and his “godson”Minister of FCT Wike has also loss his investment that is the major drama unfolding in River state.”
The “Gbarman Tarok” earlier agreed that he is as confused like patriotic citizens of Nigeria on the current state of the nation,

This partnership is going to place the institution in the map of high ranking University in the global space.”
The Acting Vice Chancellor took time to lead the partners to the proposed temporary site where the program is expected to commence, which is at the Faculty of Health Sciences,other places visited were the university’s Health Centre.
Representative of the University of Freiburg Germany, Associate Professor Peter Asaga Mark after touring some of the facilities, expressed satisfaction with the available physical infrastructures,stating that,

Associate Professor Asaga appaluded the commitment of Governor Mutfwang in revamping the health sector in Plateau State.

The Governor also revealed his willingness in setting up Small and Medium Enterprises Council by providing strategic directions and support Small businesses.
Mutfwang revealed this in his speech when declaring Open Jos Trade Fair held at Jos Polo field 18th March 2025.
With the Theme of this year trade fair which is “Driving Innovation And Technology To Unlock The Hidden Potentials Of MSMEs Mutfwang represented by his Deputy Josephine Piyo said his Government will also revitalize the state micro-Finance development agencies to get access to finance , added that Government plans to privatize agriculture and agro-align industries in other to minimize the state comparative advantage.
Stressed that his Government will invest on infrastructure , particularly road network landscape and connectives.This initiatives are designed to empower our entrepreneure, attract investors and position plateau state as a hub for business and Innovations.

The Provost College of Health Zawan Dr. Jonathan Bulus has described Governor Caleb Mutfwang as God sent to put things on right track both human and infrastructural development on the plateau.
As Dr.Bulus has promised with that with Mutfwang performance within the shortest period in office, the appointees of the governor will not afford to do less or fail as they must toll same paths of development of the Governor to support his efforts.
The Provost was speaking in an interview with journalists during 2024/25 matriculation of over 700 students to various department of college held at the school compound on Friday 14th March 2025.
He wish the governor happy 60th birthday celebration and prayed God to grant him more years for the people of the state to benefit from his good and sincere intention to redirect the state to the path of development that would be the envy of all.
Dr. Bulus leverage on the opportunity to reels out some of his achievements made so far as provost of the college to include :
revamping the students Union’s bank account which was hitherto not operational ,when I came on board as Provost of the college, the bank account for the students union body of the institution was not in operation which as that time affecting effective running of the union’s activities in the college which is currently in operation.
In addition, portable drinking water and for domestic use by the staff and students of the college have been source of challenges in the college Community but I was able to sunk bole hole with solar energy to power it, right now the school can boost of 24 hours uninterrupted water supply.
Revealed that on assumption of mantle of leadership of the college,I meet 400 students of Medical Health Lab Tech not index which means they are not qualify to write professional exam that would qualify them to practice their medical profession.
Last year 2024 ,April to be precise,I traveled to Abuja meet with the regulatory body ,I am happy to announce to you that the first batch of the students have written their professional exams last year,as another batch is getting prepared for the same exam by April 2025.
The Provost further explained the implications of being index, which means the students admitted since 2019 where not inducted because we need to clear the backlog.
Revealed that with the index of students putting to rest, the college have been given go ahead to admit fresh students in the college.
Dr.Bulus further explained that before now the school is always throw into darkness when the electricity supply is temper with ,but under my watch,I have been able to fix solar lights in some of the strategic places in the college which helps to luminate the school when major electricity supply is tempered with by major electricity supply.
The Provost who is matriculating students Into the college for the first term since assumption of office as Provost revealed that the college is Matriculating over 700 students Into various departments of the institution.
Earlier in his welcome address, Dr.Bulus adviced the students to leverage on the huge investment their parents are committing into their education despite they did not have the opportunity to attain education themselves.
Remained them that their parents are taking the investment risk by giving them education with the hope that when you finish your studies ,you will reciprocate the good gesture by upscaling their standard of living for the better.
Further remained them to know that resources are hard, and they should not renegade on the huge sacrifices made by their parents for sending them to school, but work hard to make them happy not to regret on while they took such unwarranted risk of sending them to school.
He advised them to prioritize their education over social activities and don’t allow social activities over ride their education.
Stressed that the plans of the management of the college is to upscaling the institution to a level that can be compared with other health Institutions in the world.
“It’s is our prayers and vision for our students to seek greener pastures elsewhere after their academic pursuit in the college,
“We don’t want our students after graduation to remain here in the country,if God allows it,let them found more prospect outside the shores of this country where live will be more favourable with them.”

He advised the students to adhered with the laws guarding the conducts of the college and make the handbook containing the school’s “Rules and Regulations” their daily manual to avoid breaching the law .
” Don’t want a situation where you are caught ,you say you don’t know ,at that point the management of the school may not listening to your plea “.
Charged patents to assist the school to always advice their children and wards, because as management, it pains us for expelling students after much resources have been expended on their academic for violation of the school rules and regulations which by implications they will not get certificate of the college.
In her words of admonition to the Matriculants , plateau state Commissioner for education, Dr.Kachellom Gang congrats the students for getting identity, because with the matriculation ceremony ,they have now gotten identity because they would be provided with Matriculation Number which is going to be their identity as students of the college.
The Commissioner represented by Mr Ayuba Wuyep from the ministry, further adviced the students that they are in the right college as the government is satisfy with the services so far provided by the school ,but charged the management to do more.
However urged the staff to cooperate with the management of the institution to move the college to greater hight , however adviced the management to watch out for character and learning which are prescribed as the two essential ingredients in issuing certificate to students.

The Plateau state government has debunked the insinuations making the around in some quarters that he has banned artisan mining in the state with signing the Executive Order Code Name (001) into Law .
As the state government said contrary to the speculations and believe,he did not ban the activities of Artisan miners in the state,but temporarily suspended to give enough room for regulating the activities of Artisan miners (illegal),in the state.
The Plateau State Commissioner for Information and Communication honourable Joyce Lohya Ramnap made the clarification in an interview with journalists during the occasion of the celebration of governor Caleb Mutfwang 60th birthday held at the Victoria Gowon Hall New Government House Little Rayfied, Jos South local Government Area of the state.

The information Commissioner said is better for the people in the state to know what is going on, it’s not total banning of mining on the plateau contrary to speculations, but temporal suspension of mining activities in the state.
The spokes spokesperson in the state further explain that before the suspension, you will agreed with me the challenges that come with this illegal mining activities in the state.
Added that mining activities is never a bad thing to the state in particular and the citizens as a whole because it serves as source of revenue for the state,and activities that has put plateau state in a positive map of the world.
But quick to add that there are some issues the government needs to clarify , among which is insecurity Challenges because of the proliferation of mining related activities in the state.
Also pointed out child molestation also among the reasons behind government temporary ban of the activities of illegal mining exploration where the mining pond have become death traps in the state which they called “GOTO” in the mining palace when they go in, they are trapped they died inside.And people are dying daily in the mining ponds in the state,she lamented.
She revealed that with the above listed reasons it’s eminent for the state government to take urgent steps to address the issues hence the signing of the Executive Order Code Name (001).
Stressed that the reasons behind the Order is to put the mining activities in the state on hold,and look at it framework, on how our people are taking care of, have agreement with those illegal miners to know if we have a platform where the artisan miners have a Voice on the Plateau.
She said those are some of the issues the government need to be looking at.
“At the end of the co-operation between the state and federal government,the decision the state government is able to come up with as a result of these technical Committee , they can then meet with the federal government and get it done better.These are some of the reasons for Government Executive Order (001)”.

The Independent Publishers Association(IPA), plateau state chapter has commend Plateau State Governor, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang, for revamping the hitherto Moribund state owned newspaper “The Nigeria Standard, which over the years was left to its fate of deterioration by previous administrations .
Which placed no value in appreciating its past performance and service to the nation, its importance in the current dispensation of keeping the state informed and maintenance of J.D. Gomwalk’s legacies.
The commendations is contained in a press statement dated 10th March 2025 signed by the Chairman of (IPA),in the state, Shabul Mazadu and made available to this medium in Jos.
Mutfwang has greatly improved the quality of the paper and sustain its bi-weekly production.
This gesture of revamping the newspaper is timely, most especially now that data tariffs have risen so high that is much cheaper to buy hard copies of newspapers to read than reading them on internet.
IPA wishes to make the following requests:
– The Nigeria Standard should have journalists in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, to report first hand and current happenings around the Country.
-All Government Primary and Secondary Schools should be given copies of every edition and there should be time table for pupils and students to go to libraries to read, this will revive the dead reading culture in schools.
– The Government should encourage all the LGs to have vendors stands in their domain so as to reach places where there are no mobiles’ network and those who love reading hard copies of newspapers to meet their hobby.
The production of the newspaper should be increased to five times a week.
Community papers too should be put into consideration for patronage to complement the dissemination of information, and boost employment too.
It is worthy to note that every Community newspaper have the following benefiting :
journalists, editors, graphic designers, those doing separation and those doing impression (printers), paper vendors, paper trimmers, transporters and newspaper vendors.
The government also benefits as taxes are paid and VAT secured.
IPA, is indeed happy with the development of reinvigorating the Nigeria Standard by the current government and encourages it to do more until it regains its place as the leading paper in Nigeria.
IPA wish to call on our reasonable and forward looking State and Federal Legislators, stakeholders and elder statesmen to encourage the paper to grow by patronizing it, because it is our pride.
We cannot afford to allow ours to rot while we sustain others’ with patronage.
We call on our youth to awake to reading hard copies of newspapers because there are more news they stand to read from print than online at very cheap rates.
To read a complete newspaper online can take 11-13 GB which is about N4000 – N5000 depending on the network, while hard copies are N250 to N300, depending on the medium.
Hard copies can easily be reached for references, and can be stored for many years.

Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has paid glowing tribute to the late Pa Ayo Adebanjo, describing him as a true nationalist who dedicated his life to the unity and progress of Nigeria. The elder statesman, who passed away recently at the age of 96, was widely revered for his steadfast commitment to justice, equity, and the rights of the downtrodden.
Governor Mutfwang made these remarks when he led a delegation of ethnic nationalities from Plateau and some states in Northern Nigeria on a condolence visit to the residence of the late Pa Adebanjo in Lekki, Lagos State.

He said the late Afenifere leader was a fountain of knowledge, a symbol of wisdom, and a beacon of hope and courage who remained steadfast in his advocacy for a just and inclusive Nigeria across the six geopolitical zones.
“I got to know Pa Ayo Adebanjo towards the later years of his life, but he left an indelible mark on me.
He was a fearless advocate for fairness and justice, and his lifelong struggle for the less privileged resonated deeply with me, dating back to the Second Republic. I followed his trajectory with great admiration.”

Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has paid glowing tribute to the late Pa Ayo Adebanjo, describing him as a true nationalist who dedicated his life to the unity and progress of Nigeria. The elder statesman, who passed away recently at the age of 96, was widely revered for his steadfast commitment to justice, equity, and the rights of the downtrodden.
Governor Mutfwang made these remarks when he led a delegation of ethnic nationalities from Plateau and some states in Northern Nigeria on a condolence visit to the residence of the late Pa Adebanjo in Lekki, Lagos State.

He said the late Afenifere leader was a fountain of knowledge, a symbol of wisdom, and a beacon of hope and courage who remained steadfast in his advocacy for a just and inclusive Nigeria across the six geopolitical zones.
“I got to know Pa Ayo Adebanjo towards the later years of his life, but he left an indelible mark on me.
He was a fearless advocate for fairness and justice, and his lifelong struggle for the less privileged resonated deeply with me, dating back to the Second Republic. I followed his trajectory with great admiration.”

Governor Mutfwang urged Nigerians, especially the younger generation, to draw inspiration from Pa Adebanjo’s unwavering patriotism, emphasizing that his life was a testament to the belief that Nigeria is worth fighting for.
Reflecting on his personal encounter with the late sage, Governor Mutfwang recalled how Pa Adebanjo traveled from Lagos to Jos during his legal battle at the election tribunal to offer encouragement and assure him that God would restore his mandate. The Governor said that singular act of solidarity would remain engraved in his memory for decades.
The Governor noted that the composition of the delegation accompanying him underscored how deeply the people of Plateau and the wider Northern Nigeria valued Pa Adebanjo’s wisdom and counsel.

Member Representing Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency at the at the Federal House of Representatives,Hon. Daniel Asama’s 3-Day Free Medical Outreach and Distributions of essential medical supply to 12 PHCs and 4 tertiary Institutions across the Constituency has ended in Jos,the state capital.
The medical initiatives of the honourable Member Daniel Asama to ameliorate the medical problems of the people in the Constituency following the harsh economic reality in the country billed to last 3-days,from February 27-1st March 2025 finally and successfully come to an end.
The 3-day Free Medical Outreach, which witness the distributions of Essential Drugs and Medical Supplies to 12 Primary Healthcare Clinics (PHCs) and 4 Tertiary Health Institutions across the Constituency.
The impactful initiative focused on addressing critical health challenges, particularly glaucoma and other eye-related illnesses, which silently threaten the sight of many. Over 2,000 medicated glasses and essential eye medications were freely distributed, providing much-needed relief and treatment to thousands of beneficiaries.
Hon. Asama reiterated the importance of prioritizing Healthcare, especially during these challenging economic times, emphasizing that only a healthy person can truly support their family and community. He noted that the intervention was driven by:

The Chairperson “No Woman No Nation” a Non Governmental Organization (NGO), plateau State chapter Ambassador Dr.Ruth Obadiah has facilitated the empowerment of full fledged registered woman under the umbrella of the Organisation.
As the Chairperson who just add another color to her title as “Resafel President African Network of Women Leader”in the state had worked extra hard to facilitate Fifty Thousand Naira empowerment for the bona- fide registered member of women of the Organisation and provide them with liquid fertilizer to help boost their farm yields.
Mrs Obadiah who doubled as Alternative Medicine Practitioner in the state disclosed this to journalists in an exclusive interview held in her clinic complex along police barrack road behind St-Theasa Catholic Church in Jos the plateau state capital.
Ambassador Dr. Nendi Ruth Fidelis Nee Obadiah ,who is the Chief Executive(CEO), Nenyurka Nig Ltd and Nenyitue Ventures said the Organisation “No Woman No Nation”have been in existence since 2023 but plateau state chapter just Inaugurated February 2024 which she is the current Chairperson In the state.
She disclosed that during the state Inauguration last year ,we were able to Inaugurates all the state executives around the 17 Local Government of the state.
Further explained that before then, the NGO was set up with the aim of women empowerment, vulurable, Orphans and widows since then,the Organisation where able to access empowerment for the women in the state who are registered member of the NGO of Fifty Thousand Naira (#50,000), numbering over thousand women beneficiaries.
She further explained that after the Inauguration of the state executives, she embarked on tour of the 17 Local Government to empower the women in the rural community who were mostly farmers and empower them with liquid fertilizer .

She revealed that because of his anticident in championing the course of women,the Niger based NGO nominated me to be their president in Nigeria and also give me the mandate to appoint leaders in all the Thirty Six (36) states of the federation including Abuja.
She said the NGO which has it name ” Resafel African Network Leaders” have already had 16 African members Countries, when l get the Mandate ,l we then move to see the Minister of Women Affairs with the view to register the NGO.
Explained that the NGO will be represented in the Thirty Six states of Nigeria including the Federal Capital Territory while I will be the president,but I have gotten some few capable hands already with the responsibility of coordinating the state when the New NGO kick start operation in the country in no distance time.
“The NGO also aimed at empowering Women, Vulurable, force marriage and widows,I pick interest on anything that have to do with women because is part of my ministry.
Basically, what I do is Alternative Medicine “.
The Dr.of Alternative Medicine and the Chairperson No Woman No Nation in plateau state Dr.Ruth Obadiah said the question people normally ask is while all her programs tinted towards women folks?
” I am not a politician,in most cases the women folks are used by politians and dump them when they climbed to the top through the support of women to the apex of their political career.”
They use these women during elections and dump them after the election,so we want to organize these women to add value to what ever they are doing instead of following politicians and feeding from the crumbs from the table that doesn’t take them anywhere.
” When I went on tour at the 17 LGAs,I warned the women against leaving their business following politicians waiting for hours in their Senatorial offices that hours would have been judiciously spend in their respective businesses.”
She revealed that the NGO is not a political party but just a pressure group set up to influence the actions of the government in power through peaceful means where it failed otherwise can be applied.
“We also advice the women during our local government tour to adopt the use of organic fertilizer so that we can be getting those products from them that are chemical free , that was the reason why I took time and move round the 17 local government sharing organic fertilizer to the women at the rural areas.”

This because most of the women have the products,they don’t have the markets occasion by their level of awareness and exposure cause by their level of education.
The Chairperson “No Woman No Nation” in Plateau state Dr. Ruth Obadiah revealed this in an interview with our reporter in her office in Jos.
She said the products are commonly found in Pankshin and Kanke in abundant , said research revealed that olive oil from Pankshin is one of the best after that of Israel.
She said if well harnessed, it will be a source of revenue generation for Plateau state which will increase the (IGR),by extension Nigeria as a whole, hence the need to join force with the women in those locality where these products are produce using the instrumentality of the NGO “No Woman No Nation” and start exporting it to those country who are desperately in need of it.
The state chairperson of “No Woman No Nation” in the state ,Dr Ruth Obadiah further revealed that the NGO have even teached the women how to prosses sweet potatoes and use it inform of Semovita which is a diet recommended for patients living with diabetes.

She further explained that the next step of the NGO is to embark on training of the women on how to Process the products we are having locally in other to add value so that we can become expert.

“This while I have the passion to reach these women, because nobody have reached there to educate or train them on what to do with these their valuable products.”
She further explained thatLast year 2024 ,women were desperately looking for local soup ingredients (Kuka),and with the research carried out,it was discovered that Wase and Mikan LG in Plateau are having these products in a commercial quantities.
The Chairperson said she has instructed women of affected local government to improve in packaging their products properly to attract market locally and export .
She narrated her encounter with the state government,the wife of the governor to be specific ,as the NGO have written several letters of notification of our intent to pay her courtesy call ,as we speak,no reply in any means to our correspondence.
The Dr lauded the PLSMEDA for given the NGO the opportunity to pay her courtesy call .We really need partnership ,because the Organisation is a baby one.

Decried the challenges in handling these women to include the level of their awareness to matters, as majority of them are not even having bank account of their own.

Non Governmental Organization (NGO), under the auspices of Women Economic Empowerment (WEE),has decried the frightening gender gaps in Nigeria ,called for argent steps to bridge the gap to avoid its unimaginable negative effects on the country Gross Domestics Products (GDP),of the country in no distance time.
Said that the gap of obvious discrimination and disparity between male and that of their female folks still exist despite the overwhelming statistics of the numbers of female folk of 49 percent of Nigeria population they still face significant Economic barriers.
The Plateau state officer for Women Economic Empowerment (WEE),who doubled as the resource person at the Women Economic Empowerment (WEE) , Sunday Idoko made the frightening disclosure during the women Economic Empowerment (WEE), workshop held 22nd February 2025 at the Bishop Court in Jos , plateau state.
Mr Idoko further revealed that despite the high percentage of women which is about 49 percent,the female folks are still been marginalize in all facets of human endeavors.
Add that they still grappled with unbearable poverty,as statistics revealed that no fewer than 70 percent of women in Nigeria are still leaving in abject poverty ln Nigeria.
Further revealed that 70-80 percent of Women in Nigeria engaged in Agricultural labour ,but regretted that out of the numbers, only 10 percent have the opportunity to own land.
On financial inclusion,the NGO lamented that out of 45 percent of the women folks in Nigeria, only insignificant number have access to financial inclusion compare to their male counterpart in the country.
Stressed that on corporate and Education representations, statistics has also revealed that 5 percent of girls child in Nigeria completed secondary schools as compared to the male of 67 percent of that of boys.
Added that on corporate representation, research showed that only 1in 5 board members of Nigerian companies are women.
To put an end to this frightening gap between male and female ,WEE advocates for increase women participation from 55-65 percent financial inclusion , from 45-75 to boost women access to financial services , Agriculture, their percentage should scale up from 19-30 percent.
However sues for increase of women enrollment in our primary , secondary and tertiary institutions to 75 percent, corporate leadership 25, and women in stem 40 percent responsibility.

The labour party (LP) Governorship Candidate in 2023 General Election in plateau state professor Patrick Dakum may be set to find his way back to his Ancestral political party, the All Progressive Congress (APC), in plateau state.
Patrick Dakum who was the pioneers member of APC in plateau state dumped the party for LP following what the professor described as injustice meted on him during the party’s primaries that produced Dr. Nentawe Yelwada as the party governorship flag bearer for the 2023 general election in the state.

IPA Chairman, Shabul Mazadu called on the citizens of the state to objectively look into the reasons given by the governor on the suspension and to appreciate the fact that the decision is tailored towards stemming illegal mining, influx of merchants of insecurity who might hide under the guise of mining and unleash mayhem, child abuse through child labour, untimely deaths of miners in record numbers who are consistently buried alive in their burrows, encroachment of residential homes which can brew fisticuffs between residents and miners, cracking and collapsing of residential houses, school truancy by students and pupils who persistently visit mining sites, degrading of lands and making them unfit for cultivation and other agricultural purposes and devaluing them from being patronized for development and investments.
He admonished those affected by the decision to look beyond the immediate financial benefits and consider the interest of the entire state now and in years to come, and support the legitimate mode of mining.
And that the politicians should not politicize serious issue like this, because unless there is a secured state, there will be no politicking; adding that opposition is good, but shouldn’t be at the detriment of the state.
The IPA chairman further advised the Federal Government not to see the act of the governor as usurping its power, but a necessity in accordance to achieving the primary aim of government which is securing lives and properties and the protection and promotion of the socio-economic wellbeing of the citizens.
And to also see that curbing illegal mining, safeguarding lives, stemming influx of possible crisis merchants and criminals by the state government will add value to the Renewed Hope administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu which is so far trying in these areas.
The chairman reiterated that if the lands are spared at the mercy of illegal artisanal miners, there will be food insecurity in the state in due course as the affected lands cannot be cultivated for food production and constructed for industrialization infrastructures.
Mazadu finally appeals to the government to have separate lands for mining and industrial sites, and calls on all citizens to support the initiative.
The synopsis of the self acclaimed Chairman of Plateau Publishers Association (PPA), Daniel Bok is taking frightening twist as Chairman Independent Publishers Association (IPA), who doubled as the Publisher of “The Beacon” Newspaper Shabul has Opened a Can of worms to narrate things that the Public did not know of Daniel Bok currently parading himself as the “authentic” chairman of the association (PPA).
Dan Bok as he is commonly call,is the Publisher of Horrisen Magazine in plateau state who has deputize for two heads of leadership of PPA at separate administration.
Shabul Mazadu exposed the man behind the mask, Daniel Bok in an exclusive interview with Gnewsonline recently in his office along Sparkling Junction , Bukuru Road in Plateau State.
Shabul started with the crisis which engulfed the publishers association dated back to the administration of the then Director General of Industrial Training Fund(ITF), Sir Joseph Ari.
Through the intervention of the DG joe Ari, who prevailed on aggrieved parties to come together as one for the interest of the association in the state which led to the formation of Plateau Publishers Association PPA after scraping other parallel body to give the DG respect, and to move the association forward.
Immediately the formation of the New body PPA ,the problems that earlier led to the division of the association erupted again because of the dangerous ambition of one person, Daniel Bok.
Shabul further revealed that contrary to speculation that Nanyah Daman is the problem of the Association ,is not true as the major problems of the body was Dan Bok, who contested for Deputy Chairman of the Association, with interior motives that when the chairman is not available, he automatically become the chairman and Nash was then the Chairman of the Association.
” When Nash was having problems which is normal in leadership,his Deputy Daniel Bok disassociated himself from him and did nothing to support in morally as part of the Excos.”
Some people in the association rosed up calling for the change of baton of leadership which Mr. Nash voluntarily accepted to resign from leadership as chairman.
On the day of his resignation which he suppose to go with all his Excos members, Dan Bok stood up tell the association he is not having problem if the chairman is having problem,did not extend to him so there is nothing stop him to be the chairman with the resignation of Nash as the Chairman of the Association.
The proposal the association vehemently disagreed they insisted that all the member of Excos be desolved with the resignation of the chairman (Nash).
Shabul explained when he was called upon because the Association had splited Into two, PPA and IPA as interim chairman and Daniel Bok as Secretary,I resisted because I had over the time study the person of Bok he is a dangerous person who always betrayed his master because of Nash episode, instead I opted for Orgak the publisher of Grassroot Newspaper as my Secretary, because I needed someone that would assist me and the Association.
Shabul who is the current chairman of Independent Publishers Association IPA further explained that since the formation of the association,the group started scotting for survival,to get patronage for the publishers to perform their duties accordingly,Dan Bok did not rest on his plans on how to pull me down to actualize his ambition in becoming the Chairman of the association.
“but thank God for the competent of my secretary Mr.Ogak who was more than the chairman,and always around to watch my back”.
Shabul stressed that since he not unaware of what Daniel Bok did to his Principal Mr.Nash ,l have to be extra careful and ensure I opened my eyes very well, with extra eyes at the back because of the type of Daniel Bok.
Behold ,there was a day the called me that they want to pay courtesy call on Dr.Lekup, that is before 2023 General Election .
To be precise 2021, Daniel Bok approached me for the need to form my click to include himself Bok,and any of prefer persons ,his reasons is because Chief Nanyah Daman is beginning to dominate the association and becoming too hot to handle.
According to Bok, that Nanyah has formed parallel click he now moved with and they are getting patronage.
Seeing Bok in the mist of other questionable Characters of his type,and Daniel Bok as their godfather and evil genus, I know he is on the mission of setting me up with his black mail antic.
Right there l told him that I was not interested ,and it’s against leadership principles and oath of office of leadership i will not be part of creating problems in the association intend of being the one to prevent the problems. If l had agreed to his proposal,I would have be the person who started problem in the association and I called myself a leader.
That is to tell you the type of leader Daniel will be or is claiming to be as self acclaimed Chairman faction of PPA .
We also paid courtesy call to Alhaji Dasuki Nakande the proprietor of Unity Fm Radio in the state, which is our Second visit,he told us that federal government is giving assistance and grant ,he want to assist the association to get the grant to empower them boost their publications and he give us Ten thousand Naira to go and register with PLACHEMA ,we Scott for Five Thousand because we got to realize that the registration is Fifteen Thousand not Ten Thousand.
We delegated Daniel Bok to commence the process of registration as the secretary of the association, as we speak now,Bok did not give us the feedback and what become of the members fifteen thousand given to him for the registration process.
I know the action of Bok was deliberate because he wouldn’t want me to succeed because he will not want the success to be credited to my tenure.
I would want to end this synopsis of Daniel Bok for now which will be publish in phases that contrary to the insinuations that Chief Nanyah Daman is the problem of PPA ,is not true,but Daniel Bok who is desperate for power,and he will stop at nothing till he gets it.
The only weakness of Nanyah is that he allowed Bok to work on him because he so much trusted him.
Nanyah case is like that of Julius Caesar and Brutus.
The General Manager Tourism Corporation in Plateau State Mr. Chuwang Pwajok has lauded Governor Caleb Mutfwang for prioritizing the state tourism sector despite the limited resources accruing to the state from the federation account.
As the governor didn’t have the luxury of looking at one agency at a time despite the little resources accruing to the state from federation account but look at the whole sectors holistically devoid of preference and sentiment.
Chuwang Pwajok give the commendations in an interview with journalists in his office along Bukuru Road to know the plans the corporation is having towards the agency in 2025 .
The general Manager explained to journalists that there are clear understanding by Governor Caleb Mutfwang that people need to look inward to generate revenue to compliment the federal allocation that is grossly to little to pay salaries of the state work force and to carry out developmental projects.
The Tourism boss further add that it’s a well know fact that the state is blessed with both human resources, Agricultural produce,landscapes , Weather and above all, very hospitable people which make the state conducive for development.
He revealed that one of the comparative advantage of the state is tourism with the muti-complecity of culture that makes it conducive and convinent for the development of tourism in the state.
Explained that when Governor Caleb Mutfwang come on board, he made deliberate efforts to see how he would begin to tap into the verse health which tourism can generate for plateau state. This the governor did by directing all that have been appointed to handle one responsibility or the other.
Said the governor have been engaging with discussions, negotiations with verse members of the public partners that are investing in the state.
Revealed that some of these negotiations have yielded the expected results,just few days back,the state arrangements that where made with an investment group ,with the development of Hill Station Hotel through stakeholders engagements,as work will soon commence possibly 1st August 2025 for the development of the hotel that has been abandoned for quite some time now.
Narrating further,he said around the close of last year December 2024,the state government signed pleminary agreement for the renovation of plateau Hotel,as we are currently working to finalize those agreement so that substantive agreement can be sign for work to commence as soon as possible.
“Equally, private investors have been selected , going through all the proposals that where summited to the government from different companies , investors have also been selected for the development and turning around completely of Chief Solomon Dashep Lar Amusement Park,this is to make it truly the Amusement Park that it suppose to be “.
Stressed that the state have been very deliberate and focus in turning around the tourism sector of the state.
He however recall of recent ,the government held executive retreat for a week ,one of the critical focus of the retreat is how to become very deliberate ,and focus about tourism sector in the state development ,and the state is going to be working with development partners on how we can come up with comprehensive tourism master plan.
The GM further revealed that the Corporation is equally working to put something on board, different tourist projects and products that would help to position the state properly to generate revenue from tourist sector.
Said beyond infrastructure, you need to have activities that would attract tourist to want to come and enjoy with you in an occasion.
“Last year 2024 , December was declared tourism month by governor Mutfwang as every body can attest to the fact that those where eventful December for the whole of plateau state,many people came into Jos on the date under review.

Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has described the late Lt. Gen. (Sen.) Jeremiah Timbut Useni as a symbol of hope, generosity, and service to the nation.
He made this remark as the elder statesman was laid to rest in his hometown of Langtang on Saturday.
Speaking at the funeral service held at COCIN RCC Langtang, Langtang North Local Government Area, Governor Mutfwang paid glowing tribute to the late General, emphasizing the need for genuine reconciliation among the people of Plateau State.
He urged citizens to embrace unity, as taught by God, to foster peace, progress, and harmony in the state, honoring the remarkable legacy of Gen. Useni.
Quoting Ecclesiastes 7:8, “The end of a matter is better than its beginning”, the Governor revealed how Lt. Gen. Useni spent the later years of his life seeking reconciliation and fostering peace, an example he encouraged all to follow.
On behalf of the government and people of Plateau State, Governor Mutfwang expressed appreciation to all who contributed to ensuring a befitting burial for the departed leader.
He also acknowledged the overwhelming messages of condolence from across the country, including from former Military Head of State, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, who personally extended his sympathies to the bereaved family and the people of Plateau State.
Reflecting on Gen. Useni’s legacy, Governor Mutfwang lauded his steadfast dedication to national unity, stability, and the development of Plateau State.
He emphasized that while all humans have imperfections, the late General demonstrated the virtue of reconciliation and forgiveness in his final years.
“It is impossible for human beings not to offend one another, but it is a virtue to know the right time to let go, the right time to reconcile, and the right time to forgive.
If we talk about unity, there can be no unity without forgiveness, and there can be no unity without reconciliation. True reconciliation with anyone begins with God,” the Governor stated.
Governor Mutfwang prayed for God to instill in Plateau State and Nigeria a spirit of reconciliation, so that citizens may work together for collective progress and well-being.
He expressed confidence that God would bring about a new era of peace and development in Plateau State.
In a decisive move to protect the environment, address security challenges, and safeguard the well-being of citizens of Plateau State, the Executive Governor, His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has signed Executive Order 001 of 2025, suspending all mining activities across the state.
The governor made this announcement during a stakeholders’ engagement held at the Twin Theater, New Government House, Jos, which brought together traditional rulers, community leaders, local government chairmen, and representatives from mining communities.
Governor Mutfwang stated that the suspension was necessary to curb illegal mining, mitigate land degradation, combat child labor, and address escalating security threats, including the influx of unregulated foreign miners, which has fueled banditry, kidnapping, drug trafficking, and illegal firearms possession in mining communities.
“As the Chief Security Officer of the State, it is my duty to ensure the safety of our people. Given the rising security concerns associated with illegal mining, we must take decisive action. All mining operations are hereby suspended until further notice. This measure is aimed at restoring order and ensuring that Plateau’s resources are harnessed for the benefit of its people,” Governor Mutfwang declared.
To ensure a structured and sustainable approach to mining in the state, the government will collaborate with the Federal Government, local authorities, host communities, and mineral rights holders to establish a monitoring framework and enforce Community Development Agreements (CDA) that guarantee socio-economic benefits for host communities.
Governor Mutfwang emphasized: “This suspension is a crucial step towards securing our communities from the threats posed by unregulated mining activities. It is not intended to target individuals or hinder economic progress but rather to ensure that mining is conducted in a responsible and
sustainable manner.”
To oversee the implementation of mining reforms, the Governor inaugurated a Technical Committee on Mining Reform, chaired by the Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Philemon Dafi.
The committee is tasked with:
1. Verifying mining licenses to ensure compliance with regulations.
2. Gathering data on mining sites for better resource management.
3. Regulating illegal mining operations to curb environmental and security concerns.
4. Recommending designated mining areas to prevent
Encroachment on residential lands.
The Governor explained that the Plateau State Government remains committed to ensuring that mining activities contribute meaningfully to the state’s economic growth while prioritizing security, environmental protection, and community development.

The Chairperson of ADC in plateau state ,Amb. Hannatue Gagara made the disclosure during an interview with journalists in her office, located at Donkat Bali Way ,Jos plateau State, 17th February 2025.
She revealed that the highest decisions making body of the party had met in separate occasion top in the agenda of the meeting was the need for Africa Democratic Party (ADC) to consider proposal of some political parties coming forward with the proposal to merge with (ADC),to form formidable political force ahead 2027 General election that would give would give so call bigger parties a run for their money.
Ambassador Gagara said the party(ADC),is very careful about the proposed political alignment to avoid what she described political casualty as the negotiations with the party or parties involved continue.
Although the Chairperson didn’t disclosed the identity or the numbers of political parties who have so far indicated interest of merging with her party.
However,Ambassador Hannatu Gagara lauded Governor Caleb Mutfwang for his achievements barely one year in office for his astronomical development which have cut -across all sectors and Communities in the state.
Mrs. Gagara said ” for me ,here on the plateau, although I am the ADC chairman in the state, you cannot judge someone when he is just one year in the office. As ADC member ,I cannot say governor Mutfwang has not done well, but in my opinion and judgement,he has done well ,and kudos should be given to him.”
She further add that when you look at the relative peace currently being enjoying in the state,which is the prayers of everybody irrespective of tribes religious affiliation ,you know how it was before the coming of governor Mutfwang with sporadic attacks across the state.
You can also see in the area of infrastructure , when you go around the State metropolis now, you will agree with me that the governor have uplift the infrastructures in the state ,raging from road construction starting from Utokon road that was hitherto abandoned by the last administration,and other road that was unpassable before this administration came on board,and others too numerous to mention.
On transport sector you would agree with me that the governor has bring reliefs to the people of the state with the provisions of Metro Buses following subsidy removal from petroleum products by president Ahmed Tinubu which has affected all facets of human endeavors. With the metro buses provided by the governor to ameliorate the hardship being faced by the commuters in the state, have helped in no small measure to reduce the people’s hardship.
Educational sectors was not left out, as the governor has practically renovated most of the primary and secondary school across the seventeen(17), local government of the state, furnished most of them as our finding revealed that the students are now learning under conducive environment.
Most of these achievements of the governor also replicated in the health sector ,as most of the state owned health facilities have been renovated , some of them upgraded to combat health challenges facing the people.
I believed those are some of the visible achievements we can see with our eyes not fabrication or exaggeration,so I think the governor has done extremely well to the citizens of the state.
However,advice the governor to extend his development to the local governments in the state,and don’t concentrate his development only on the state capital, but should be scale down to the grassroot level so that the dividend of democracy will also be felt by the people at the grassroot.
The State Chairperson of ADC in the state also use the medium to advise governor Caleb Mutfwang to extend his olive branch to all the oppositions parties in the state ,and involve them in governance to contribute their quoters in building the state.
The ADC Chairperson in the state Ambassador Hannatu Gagara who came on board barley (6) month ago as the state Chairperson of the party, revealed she was mandated to oversee the party and reorganize it for more effectiveness .

If fully passed and assented to, it will establish a specialized University to advance knowledge and skills in Medical Laboratory Science and Technology.
Hon. Asama emphasized that the University will create a conducive learning environment, foster Research, and provide greater opportunities for Bassa/Jos North, Plateau State, and Nigeria.

Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the revered South-South leader and former Federal Commissioner for Information, Chief (Dr.) Sen. Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, OFR, CON, who passed away at the age of 97.
The governor expression of sorrow over the demise of the elder stateman is contained in a press statement dated 19th February 2025 signed by his Director of press and Public Affairs Dr.Gyang Bere and made available to this medium in Jos.
In the statement Governor Mutfwang described Chief Clark as a selfless leader, a father figure, and a beacon of hope, whose immeasurable contributions to Nigeria’s democratic growth and national discourse will continue to inspire generations.
He noted that the late statesman lived a fulfilled life marked by patriotism, integrity, and resilience, particularly in championing equity, justice, and inclusive governance.

Plateau State University, Bokkos, and the University of Jos have embarked on a pioneering partnership to enhance equipment maintenance and setup.
On February 18, a team of experts from the University of Jos’ Equipment Maintenance Centre visited Plateau State University to explore potential collaboration avenues. Led by Mr. James Dul, the team aimed to identify opportunities for knowledge sharing, training, and capacity building, as well as mutual benefits and cooperation.

Plateau State University Bokkos has initiated the process for automating its library system.
The project is sponsored by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) under its 2024 “Intervention for Library Development” program.
It involves restocking libraries with assorted books and installing cutting-edge ICT equipment within the university’s library.
The bid process began on February 17 with the opening of technical bids from various contractors, following TETFund’s approval in principle last December.
The university advertised the contract in at least two national dailies for six weeks, attracting bids from over eight contractors.
Acting Vice Chancellor Prof.v Shedrack Best, represented by Damul Mikat Bulus, Head of the Procurement Unit, assured prospective contractors of a transparent selection process.
“We will evaluate your capacity based on the technical requirements outlined for the job,” said Prof. Best.
“Our watchword is transparency and accountability.”
The technical bid opening on February 17 marks the first step, to be followed by the opening of financial bids by qualified contractors shortlisted by the screening committee.

The Central Working Committee of the Nigerian Labour Congress has called on workers and the general public to boycott telecommunications providers, including MTN, Airtel, and Glo, starting at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 13, 2025, in protest against tariff increases.
The decision was announced in a statement by Joe Ajaero, NLC president, and Emmanuel Ugboaja, NLC secretary, on Wednesday.companies revert to the previous tariff until the committee completes its deliberations and reaches a conclusive agreement.
“As a first step in resisting this arbitrary tariff hike, the CWC has directed that beginning Thursday, February 13, 2025, Nigerian workers and other willing citizens shall boycott the services of MTN, AIRTEL, and GLO daily between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM until the end of February 2025.”The Congress also criticized the government for failing to protect citizens from corporate exploitation.
The NLC also reviewed the Tax Reform Bills, warning against policies that could further burden Nigerian workers. While acknowledging the need for fiscal reforms, Congress vowed to push for fair and worker-friendly tax policies.
If the tariff hike is not reversed by February 29, 2025, the NLC will commence a nationwide telecom shutdown from March 1, 2025. The Congress urged civil society groups and all Nigerians to join the protest against exploitative economic policies.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division, Nigerian Army and Commander, Operation Safe Haven, Maj Gen. E.F Oyinlola visit to the police boss is his first maiden visit to the Commissioner of Police Plateau Command, CP Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, since assumption of office in the state few weeks ago.
The GOC was warmly received by the Plateau Police boss and his management team at the State Police Headquarters, Jos today.
In his remarks, the GOC who identified the Nigeria Police as strategic partner in the security space, stated that he came to formally introduce himself to the CP and further strengthen the relationship that exist between the two agencies.
He noted that when security agencies have a robust relationship network, they easily conquer criminals and share the glory together.
Maj. Gen. Oyinlola stressed the need to shove away inter-agency rivalry and work together as one to defeat criminals and maximize peace and security in the State.

The Pateau State Command of Nigeria Police Force has paraded not fewer than Fifteen Persons for alleged various criminal activities which boarded on alleged kidnapping, illegal possession of Arms , arrest of suspected kidnapper and rescue of victims.
As the command lauded the moral and logistics supports of Plateau State governor barrister Caleb Mutfwang which have helped in boosting the moral of the officers of men and women to tackle criminal elements in the state or reduced their activities to the barest minimum.
The Commissioner of police plateau state command Emmanuel olugbenga Adesina stated this during press briefing and parade of alleged Criminals held at the command Headquarters 11th February 2025 .
The force Commissioner of police Emmanuel olugbenga Adesina said the press briefing is to appraise the Achievements of the command on the period under review.
The Commissioner add that within the period under review, the Plateau State Police Command had recorded some operational successes on aggressive onslaught against men of the underworld which has led to the massive arrest of criminals and recovery of arms, ammunition.

Arrest of Suspected kidnapper which strived in running the business of illegal guns with the recovery of AK -47 Riffle.
The Commissioner of police Emmanuel olugbenga Adesina said Acting on credible intelligence received in the early hours of 24th January 2025 ,the me of Nigeria police mounted a check point around Kuka area of Pankshin LGA on the same date at about 03:20am. While on stop and search operation, two (2) young men approached the check point on a motorcycle. As our men advanced toward them, one of them jumped off and escaped into the nearby bushes. The other suspect, one Terishima David, male, 28 years was apprehended.
Upon conducting an on-the-spot search of the suspect, one AK-47 riffle with breach no NR3692 with an empty magazine was recovered from his possession.
Efforts are ongoing with a view to arrest the fleeing suspect and ensure that he faces the full weight of the law the Commissioner maintained.
He revealed that the force in the periode under review,have made significant arrest of suspect who specialized in the fabrication of locally made guns .
“On 2nd October 2024 at about 10:00am, a report was lodged by a complainant, that on 29th Oct 2024, one Ibrahim Mohammed, male of Rigip Abattoir Jos trespassed into his Cold Room at Abattoir market and stole his beef (Cow Meat) valued about Two Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N2,500,000.00) and escaped to an unknown destination.”
Further explained that in respect of this ugly incident, our men swung into action and arrested the suspect on 24th January 2025 at about 8:00pm local time.
Exhibit recovered from the suspect according to the force includes:
one locally fabricated riffle loaded with six (6) cartridges.
“In the course of investigation, one Abubakar Gambo of Gangare was arrested for purchasing the stolen beef. One Sadiq Isah, Samuel Bello, Rabiu Usman and Daniel Nyam all of Abbatoir were arrested in connection to the recovered revolver pistol.”
Said the suspect will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation.
The other achievements of the command in an efforts in combating crime and criminality in the state and it environs is the arrest of kidnapped suspect and rescue of the victim.
“TheCommand received information from a concerned citizen of the State, that there is a kidnap operation going on around Lohdik, Rantya, Jos on 28th January 2025 at about 2:00am.
Upon receipt of the tipoff, the DPO Rantya Division quickly mobilized and led a team of officers to the scene and rescue the victim.
As a result of the gallantry of our men, the kidnappers were repelled and the following suspects were arrested; one Bilya Jibrin, 23 years and Adamu Suleiman, 26 years all male of Bassa LGA. Shortly after the arrest of these suspects, the victims have been reunited with their family. The case will soon be charged to court for onward prosecution.”
Other areas of land achievements of the command is the arrest of Suspects for criminal conspiracy, kidnapping and culpable homicide.
“On 16th December 2024 at about 2pm, we received a report from one Abdullahi Abubakar of Jos North LGA, stating that his 11 years old son, one Tasiu Abdullahi was missing.
Later the same day, he was informed by his daughter, that she received a WhatsApp message from a strange number, informing her that her brother is in their custody. They further demanded for the sum of One Million, Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N1,250,000.00k) as ransom for his release. After much negotiation, the sum of One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N150,000.00k) only was deposited into an account sent to them by the kidnappers as ransom for the release of the victim. “
“After collecting ransom from the victim’s family, the kidnappers sent another WhatsApp message to his sister through a different phone number, informing her that they have released her brother to their neighbor, one Haruna Adamu aka Baban Amir who carried him in his Green Honda vehicle.
While trying to confront the said Haruna Adamu, an angry mob interrupted the process and attempted to destroy the vehicle. Fortunately, our men from Nassarawa Gwong division quickly rescued the situation and arrested the suspect. “
“The Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU) extended investigation into the matter, and the following suspects were arrested: one Isiyaka Umar, Zaharadeen Muhammed, Mubarak Nura aka Muba, Ismail Auwal aka Dan Ruwa, Haruna Adamu, Simple Lucky Athagbolo, Mohammed Adamu Inuwa, Abdulbasit Abdulhamid, and Musa Ahmed Bello.”
“Further investigation revealed that Isiyaka Umar, Zaharadeen Muhammed, Mubarak Nura, and Ismail Auwal were the ones who criminally conspired and kidnapped the victim and killed him after collecting the sum of One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N150,000.00) from the victim’s family.”
“The WhatsApp numbers used to message the victim’s sister was tracked and the analysis revealed one Mohammed Abdullahi Inuwa, an Airtel Registration Agent who later confessed to having conspired with one Abdulbasit Abdulhamid and agreed to create WhatsApp accounts with several numbers, and without the consent of the owners of the SIM cards and further sold them to Musa Ahmed Bello who was actively used to chat the victim’s sister.”
Said the case is currently under investigation, the suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of our investigation.
Other arrest made by the command are suspects who specialized in impersonation and recovery of Camouflage Uniform and other exhibits , grievous hurt and arrest of suspect, Criminal conspiracy and theft arrest for conspiracy and human trafficking and other Crimes.
The Commissioner thank the governor of Plateau State barrister Caleb Mutfwang for creating enabling environment for the force to operate, and achieved the desired fight against criminal minded elementsinthe state and it’s environs.
Thank the officers of men and women of the command for their synergy with other security Agencies in the state that make the success possible.
Governor Mutfwang made this call on Monday while declaring open the Plateau State Annual Executive Retreat, with the theme “That Plateau May Shine,” held at Miango Rest Home, in Bassa Local Government Area.
Reflecting on the administration’s journey so far, the Governor urged his appointees to maximize every opportunity, applying deep thinking to initiate innovations that will bring about a paradigm shift in governance.
He emphasized the need for collective efforts to revamp the education and health sectors, as well as to build durable infrastructure that will drive economic growth and sustainable development in the state.
“We are privileged that the people of Plateau have entrusted us with their mandate. They have given us the responsibility to lead and stand for them, and we must not disappoint them.
Our duty is to save lives, improve livelihoods, and ensure that Plateau progresses to the level of developed nations,” he stated.
Governor Mutfwang, who shared his vision for the state, said his entry into politics was borne out of a deep sense of duty to humanity, driven by the need to address insecurity, poverty, and infrastructural deficits that hinder progress.
“Let me make this clear—I have said it before, and some may not have fully understood. I am not a career politician.
I came into politics because it became a necessity. In fact, I initially avoided anything related to public life. After university, I was certain my path was to be a preacher and a missionary.
“But I later realized that one can remain true to their values while engaging in politics.
You can be a person of integrity—a doctor, a lawyer, a professional—before stepping into leadership. Your character and principles should define you before politics, not the other way around.”
Challenging his appointees to remain diligent and focused, he declared: “Friends, we must not postpone today’s tasks for tomorrow.
There is no time for slumber or selfishness. History has shown that societies advance through unity, not division. The era of working in silos is over. No one can do it alone.
“Use your position wisely; see it as a trust you hold. Loyalty to me is good, but from this moment forward, let your ultimate loyalty be to God and the greater good of Plateau State.”
The retreat featured distinguished resource persons renowned for their wisdom and expertise in governance, leadership, and biblical principles.
Among them were Bro. Gbile Akanni of Peace House, Rev. Prof. Pandang Yamsat, Prof. Yusuf Turaki, and the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Nigeria, Ms. Elsie Attafuah.
They delivered insightful sessions on transformative governance aimed at fostering a greater Plateau State.
Member Representing Bassa/Jos North Constituency in the National Assembly, honourable Daniel Asama has took time out to explain to Nigerians the process of New states Creation.
As Asama said as representative of the people,I am committed to ensuring that you are well-informed about the processes that shape our nation.
He further add that the would like to provide the people of Nigeria in general and the people of his constitues with the synopsis on the procedures for creating new states in Nigeria, as outlined in Section 8 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999.
Revealed that the Process of Creating a New State is a complex process that involves several stakeholders and requires careful consideration.
As he outlined steps involved :
A request for the creation of a new state must be supported by at least two-thirds majority of members representing the area demanding the creation of the new state in the Senate, House of Representatives, House of Assembly, and local government councils is received by the National Assembly.
Stressed that proposal for the creation of the state must be approved in a referendum by at least two-thirds majority of the people of the area where the demand for creation of the state originated.
The result of the referendum must be approved by a simple majority of all the States of the Federation, supported by a simple majority of Members of the Houses of AssemblyAnd thereafter the proposal must be approved by a resolution passed by two-thirds majority of members of each House of the National Assembly.
However said the information will be helpful in understanding the process of creating new states in Nigeria.

He contested for senatorial seat to represent plateau South Senatorial zone , it’s also on political record that during that time under review,he was able to make significant impact in legislative business, and attracted several projects to his Constituency in particular, and plateau as a whole because of his firm believe for unity and greater Nigeria.
Useni who contested for the Governorship of plateau with now Senator Bako Lalong and failed, did not use his past military might to address the situation but approached competent election tribunal set up for amicable resolution through judicial process,but accepted the tribunal verdict when the judgement wasn’t in his favor.

Useni no doubt had sacrifice for Nigeria both militarily and as politian, it’s therefore would not be out of place to reward him even in death by creating New State from the present plateau state.

The burial arrangements for the late Rev. Sunday Abolarinwa Fabunmi, a renowned Baptist pastor of the First Baptist Church Jos, have been announced.
The announcement was made during a solemn service held at the church auditorium today, Sunday, February 9, 2025 by Deacon Samuel Adeoye, the immediate past chairman of the Deaconate, on behalf of the Church leadership.
According to the announcement, a commendation service will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 2 pm at the First Baptist Church Jos. This will be followed by a burial service on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at 10 am at the same venue.
The final interment will take place in Rev. Fabunmi’s hometown of Ogbomoso, Oyo State, on Saturday, February 22, 2025.
Since his passing, condolence messages have poured in from across the country, celebrating Rev. Fabunmi’s impactful ministry and legacy.
Rev. Fabunmi was a respected and influential figure in the Baptist and beyond, known for his dedication to his faith and his service to others.
His passing has left a void in the lives of those who knew him, and he will be deeply missed.

Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to tackling illegal mining, which has significantly contributed to school dropouts in mining communities across the state.
He has therefore called on community and religious leaders, as well as all patriotic citizens, to join hands with the government in addressing the menace, which he described as a serious threat to the state’s values and future.
Governor Mutfwang made the call during a church service at the COCIN Headquarters Church in Jos, where he emphasized the need for unity among believers as a foundation for sustainable development in Plateau State.
“Last week, I ordered a raid on all illegal mining camps across the state. I urge you to help our people understand that we are not trying to deprive them of their livelihoods. The devastating consequences of illegal mining are beyond imagination.”
At the Church Service with Her Excellency, Barr. Helen Mutfwang, the Governor expressed deep concern over the alarming rate of school dropouts in mining communities, citing recent findings that revealed a drastic decline in school enrollment in areas such as Bassa, Riyom, Jos South, and Barkin Ladi.
“We conducted research and discovered that school dropout rates in these areas are distressingly high.
Many classrooms are virtually empty. Just last month, we also uncovered cases where parents in Bassa were sending their children out for child labour, we are tracking them.”
Governor Mutfwang urged community leaders to take responsibility in sensitizing their people, stressing that the government, in collaboration with religious institutions, will embark on an intensive enlightenment campaign to address the issue.
“I appeal to all of you, as leaders in your communities, to take up this cause. May God burden your hearts with the urgency of this struggle so that you will rise above all affiliations and address your people. The church will play a pivotal role, and we will stand by our religious leaders in this effort.”
The governor also highlighted the environmental hazards posed by illegal mining, including land degradation, the destabilization of residential areas, and threats to government institutions.
On the security situation in the state, Governor Mutfwang reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to resist any attempt to destabilize Plateau. He emphasized that the people of Plateau are hospitable and accommodating, but they expect their traditions, values, and institutions to be respected.
“All Plateau people seek is recognition and respect for their cultural values and traditional institutions. We will not allow any deliberate attempt to undermine our state.”
He stressed that the unity of the church is crucial in achieving these goals, assuring that his administration will continue to work in close collaboration with the people to build lasting peace and progress.
In his sermon, the Guest Preacher, Rev. Agwom Azi Magaji, who drew his message from John 11:25 under the theme “I Am the Resurrection and the Life,” emphasized that God has the power to restore life to anything that seems lost or dead.
“The power of resurrection is in Christ Jesus. Every believer must acknowledge God’s power in their lives to maintain a steadfast faith in Him.”

3. Raising Three (3) major matters of Public importance on: Community Policing, Incessant fire outbreaks on Katako Market of Jos North, and the heartbreaking school building collapse in Jos North.
4. Distribution of food items to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to alleviate the hardship faced by our vulnerable citizens.
5. Seed funding for 200 market women, empowering small businesses and improving economic sustainability.
6. Provision of fertilizers to farmers, boosting agricultural productivity and food security.
7. Donation of sewing machines and grinding machines to constituents, enhancing skill acquisition and self-reliance.
8. Distribution of reading tables, writing materials, school bags, and sandals to vulnerable pupils, promoting education at the grassroots level.
9. Payment of WAEC & NECO fees for 600 students, reducing the financial burden on parents and ensuring brighter futures for our young minds.
10. Providing international exposure for 40 football talents, opening doors of opportunity for our youth in global sports.
11. Strengthening community security by networking the Community Police, Hunters, and Vigilante Groups, thereby improving safety across our communities.
12. Construction of classroom blocks in Rukuba, fostering better learning environments for students.
13. Facilitating employment opportunities for youths into the Nigerian Air Force, Nigerian Police Force, and Nigerian Army.
14. Creating employment networking channels for youths into the Nigerian Civil Defence Corps, Federal Fire Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, and Nigeria Correctional Service.
As we anticipate the 2025 budget, we are prepared to roll out more impactful projects and interventions.

In a congratulatory, message, Governor Mutfwang described Prof. Lar as a visionary leader and distinguished academic, whose strategic foresight has significantly advanced credible research and academic excellence.
He highlighted Prof. Lar’s contributions as a Professor of Medical Microbiology at the University of Jos, noting that her innovative reforms in university education have played a crucial role in enhancing the skills and intellectual growth of numerous students within and outside Nigeria.

National Rebirth with hundreds of PFN Leaders & Pastors from different Churches & Ministers in attendance .
Speaking at the well attended & colourful program Rev. Dr. Steven Dangana, Senior Pastor Citadel of Peace Assembly Jos & the Special Adviser to the Plateau State Governor on Religious Affairs, has emphasized the power of prayer and the necessity of sacrifice for Nigeria’s transformation.
Speaking during the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) Plateau State’s one-day fasting and prayer session at Covenant Word Christian Centre International Headquarters, Jos, he urged believers to recognize that true national rebirth requires both spiritual devotion and active commitment.
Quoting Isaiah 66:7-10, Rev. Dangana posed a critical question:
“Can a nation be born at once?
Can anything great emerge without travail?”
He stressed that while prayer remains a formidable force, meaningful change can only come through selfless efforts and dedicated action.
He called on Nigerians to embrace sacrifice, hard work, and righteousness to see the desired transformation in the nation.
“We cannot bring forth without travail; a great nation cannot be birthed overnight.
As much as we believe in the power of prayer, we must also recognize that prayer without work is ineffective,” he stated. He encouraged Pentecostal believers to rise beyond intercession and actively contribute to nation-building.
The event was part of PFN’s 40-day nationwide fasting and prayer campaign marking the fellowship’s 40th anniversary and seeking divine intervention for Nigeria.
Each state was allocated a specific day to observe the fast, and February 6 was designated for Plateau State.
In his opening remarks, Chairman PFN Plateau State Chapter, Rev. Dr. Dunka Gomwalk, celebrated the journey of the fellowship, acknowledging the faith and sacrifices of its founding fathers. He announced that PFN’s 18th Biennial Conference would hold from February 11-14, 2025, at the Glory Dome in Abuja, under the leadership of His Eminence, Bishop Dr. Francis Wale Oke.
Rev. Gomwalk emphasized that Nigeria is at a defining moment, requiring collective spiritual efforts. He called on all PFN members to participate actively in the national fasting and prayer movement and urged Plateau State to lead by example.
“As we mark our 40th year, we believe that this is a prophetic season for the rebirth of Nigeria. Our voices will be heard, and we trust God for a transformed nation,” he declared.

The gathering saw a series of fervent prayers led by key church leaders, focusing on national and state affairs, security, the economy, and the church. The highlights included; Bishop Dr. Dele Olukotun – Prayer for Plateau State, its leadership, and security.
Bishop Dr. Wilson Ezeofor – Prayer for the Nigerian President, national leaders, and national revival.
Rev. Gloria Mokungah – Prayer for PFN pastors, their churches, and their families. Rev. Obi Godwin – Prayer for PFN’s national leadership and the success of the upcoming biennial conference.
The event also featured goodwill messages from Rev. N.C. Thompson and other PFN leaders, reaffirming their commitment to interceding for Nigeria’s peace and prosperity.
As the session concluded, there was a strong call for continued intercession beyond the event, with participants encouraged to uphold the nation in prayer and action.
The gathering reaffirmed the PFN’s commitment to spiritual revival and national transformation, as Plateau State played its part in the ongoing 40-day movement.

When the news of his death filtered on Thursday, January 23, 2025, many found it difficult to accept the reality; though it was a known fact that he had been down with ill health.
For a long period, those who knew his health condition had silently prayed for God’s intervention to keep him alive.
They have every reason to do so; and for good though. The more you knew and understood the late Sardaunan Plateau, you got acquainted that it was good to have him around.

Governor Caleb M Mutfwang’s announcement of his death; in my estimation did not take away anything from his family. Leaders of his status can only be celebrated by not limiting him to a particular location.
While he was alive, Lt Gen Jeremiah Timbut Useni was close and associated with people in numerous ways during his military career and as a private person.
Beyond the fact that he ‘represented the ideal value of a military officer that understood what it meant to be a people’s soldier’, his demise is liken to as ‘the fall of one of the tallest tree in the forest’.
He made time available to mix freely with the mass of the people. He had a wife who had a beautiful heart that freely synchronized with her husband’s to help people.
The outpour of emotions for the loss have been massive. It only shows the essence of the man in question, whose place in history since February 16, 1943 has not been lost.
For the right reasons, he has been popularly referred to as Baba Mai Tuwo (the man who freely gives or provides for all). Beyond that, his warmth towards those who visited his house, either at Langtang, Jos or Abuja was beyond the ordinary.
Two ‘affectionate’ monikers remained largely points of service to the various publics he served during his lifetime. Jerry Boy and Baba Mai Tuwo hung around his neck far more than any other. They remain points of reference to his magnanimity.
He remained one of the few who was aware that doing good to people was the only recipe needed to harvest any good in return.
No wonder, his popular refrain: ‘Do good, you see good’, is not lost in the journey of his life. Within the available space, it is difficult to begin to pick them one after another for mention. To adequately enumerate them is to reduce the essence of those contributions.
It is not out of place to say that the journey of the former Minister of Transport, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Lt General Jeremiah Timbut Useni has many chapters. To get a clear picture of his person, one needs to understand those chapters.
The journey for him could have started when he joined the military at 14 at the Nigerian Military School, Zaria. One appointment followed after another in quick succession; it included being Quarter Master General of the Nigerian Army.
He shot to national prominence as soon as he became military governor of the defunct Bendel State in January 1984 until August 27, 1985.
He is indeed a ‘passionate patriot who dedicated much of his life to service’, and gave all to his country. But above all, as ‘a gentleman officer of extraordinary orientation’, he lived as ‘a total Nigerian without boundaries’.
His style of leadership was indeed ‘result-driven’ and even more, of his ‘ability to coordinate and inspire those around him’.
Those who were close to him say with certainty that his leadership style turned many ‘challenges into opportunities’ while he lived.
It is on record, according to Nigeria’s former president, Gen Ibrahim Babangida, that ‘due to his robust character and friendly, approachable demeanor’, General Useni built a coterie of ‘friends across Nigeria’, who without mincing words, saw that he was ‘very much at home with anyone he came across.’
Much more than that, General Useni uniquely had a calm mien, and Babangida recalled that ‘you would hardly see the anger of General Useni’.
Thus, in ‘his infectious laughter and easy going nature, left a lasting impression on all who encountered him’.
No wonder, ‘General Useni’s passing is being felt deeply across Nigeria, particularly among his family, friends, and those who worked with him throughout his illustrious career’.
During the reign of General Sani Abacha’s military junta from 1993 to 1998, the Langtang born Lt General who served as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory was considered de facto Head of State. Their friendship can be traced as far back as in 1966.
He was the most influencial and highest serving army officer, so that during the passage of General Sani Abacha in 1998, he was expected to be named the next Head of State.
The ‘privilege’ of becoming the Head of State ‘was conceded to the then Chief of Defence Staff, General Abdulsalmi Abubakar’. Only those involved know what reasons were given for the action.
The death of the Head of State was allegedly shrouded in mystery. It was Useni who maintained that the maximum leader ‘died naturally’.
One colossal personal tragedy he went through was the death of his wife, Julie and his last son, Danjuma who were among those killed in the EAS plane crash that occurred on May 4, 2002, while traveling from Kano to Lagos.
The ‘personal tragedy’ having been put aside, ‘he also came under the very false suspicion of being in the know of how/why Abacha died because both of them were allegedly together in the couple of hours leading to Abacha’s death’.
When he ‘plunged head-on into politics’, he did so knowing it will be beneficial to him and those he represented. He was All Nigeria Peoples Party’s Deputy National Chairman, as well as leader and National Chairman of the defunct Democratic people’s Party (DPP).
In March 2015, he was elected a senator to represent Plateau South Senatorial district on the PDP platform. He was the party’s gubernatorial candidate in 2019, where he lost to Barr Simon Bako Lalong.
He played a crucial role as chairman of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF); indeed as the pioneer founding chairman of the BOT of the North Central People’s Forum and services offered to the Tarok Elders Forum.
Philanthropy and community development efforts did not depart from his home. While Mrs Julie Useni lived, she was passionate about God and taking care of the home front as there was none.
Many may recall her pet project: Daughters of Abraham Foundation, where young women were taken off the streets and given new lease of life. It must be stated, widows and other poor women have lost benefactors that placed their interests close to their hearts.
Beyond several businesses which he pioneered, the establishment of Tim Tali Transport and a university with the same name are allegedly in a quandary but need attention to them see the light of the day.
For all who received help in ft various forms from him, while he lived; they can only serve his memory well to remember to engage in doing good.
By the fact of the loss, the family knows what is good to be done to keep his memory incandescent.

Justice Debra Nyam of Chief Magistrate Court (5) sitting at the Luguard Road, Jos North Local Government plateau State, give the judgement 6th February 2025 during the arraignment of one Mr Stanley Chibike over alleged offence of violation of plateau state Environmental Sanitation Law,and Assault of security personnel attached to the Agency to maintain law and order during the exercise.
Mr.Stanley who have been in the custody of correctional center pleaded guilty to the two count charges level again him and pleaded for leniency and urged the court to temper justice with mercy.
In his judgement,the presiding judge Hon.justice Dabra Nyam ruled that the Defendant having agreed to the offence is here by sentence to 10 years imprisonment with the option of fine of the sum of Hundred Thousand Naira (#100,000) only in like sum.
It would be recall that staff of the Plateau State Environmental Protection and Sanitation Agency and some support personnel where obstructed from going about their lawful duty at Amuzie Plaza at Tafawa Balewa, opposite Township Primary School during the sanitation exercise of 31st January, as a result of which one law enforcement officer was assaulted.
In a related development, PEPSA has confirmed the unsealing of a block of six locked-up shops adjacent Nana House, near Old Airport Road, Jos, after payment of eighty thousand naira fine by shop owners.
Prior to the enforcement of the law, the traders disregarded the environmental and sanitation advisory that required them to evacuate garbage dumped in drainages near their shops before or during the recent sanitation exercise.

Plateau State University, Bokkos, has officially received the renovated Faculty of Social Sciences and a 600-capacity lecture theatre, courtesy of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) intervention projects.
The renovated faculties, once dilapidated, now boast modern looks with quality furniture, ensuring a conducive learning environment for students.
Acting Vice Chancellor Professor Shedrack Gaya Best expressed gratitude to TETFund for its interventions, which have significantly bridged the institution’s infrastructural gap.
The renovation projects, handled by Nicholas Dav Services Nigeria Limited and Bisham Investment Limited respectively, come with a six-month defect liability period according to Prof. Best who was represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics, Associate Prof. Keziah Ayuba.
This would allow the contractors to address any pending issues before the final certifications will be completed.
The consultant for the two projects, Arcprodev Design Associate Limited, assured that all outstanding work would be completed according to specifications.
In a related development, the university has awarded a contract to Kaliz Investment Limited for the construction of a 150-capacity auditorium.
The project, aims to provide a dedicated space for seminars and conferences without disrupting lectures. The contractor has eight months to complete the project, according to Prof. Best.
The structure will be located within the Simon Lalong Garden, a student relaxation center on campus.
Prof. Best while handing over the certificate of award to the contractor at the proposed building site emphasized the importance of professionalism and adherence to standards in the execution of the project.

Gagdi said the disjointed/mutilated compendium which is obviously the handling work of mischief makers is aimed to paint him in bad light despite his hard to beat achievements recorded as member.

My attention has been drawn to a piece of malicious publication, being circulated on social media, ostensibly doctored from the compendium of the records of my achievements from 2019-2023 as the member representing Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency.
It must be noted that, the compendium of my achievements which was published in 2023 were tangible and verifiable projects executed by me in my first term in office, which formed the basis upon which the electorate supported and voted me for a second term with an overwhelming vote margin of over 31 thousand in 2023.
It must also be noted that since the publication hit the public prior to the 2023 elections, it has not yet been reviewed nor altered to accommodate any achievements recorded in my ongoing second term in office.
It must, as well, be noted that all the pages of the original publication bear my official insignia and duly signed by me which shall be release to the general public again.
The public is hereby advised to discountenance any other publication being circulated to include ongoing projects initiated in my second term in office* purporting to emanate from me or my media crew.
For the avoidance of doubt, the Gungji-Shiwer-Dokpai road initiated in our second term in office is a 1.5 kilometers constituency project that was handled by a reputable construction firm, which had completed the portion of the road awarded to her, and at no time did I or my media handlers claimed that the whole stretch of the road from Gungji to Dokopai was completed. The second phase of the road has been awarded and is billed to commence on this week.
Even more preposterous is the assertion by the mischief makers that the Dengi-Kwalmiya-Gum-Gagdi-Wawus road, stretching 52 kilometers with 5 big bridges were completed within a period of two years, and not the actual 10 km of the road’s earthwork contract* already being awarded which is equally ongoing.
Without equivocation, the publication was borne out of mischief by my detractors to belittle my modest contributions to the development of my constituency, which have received widespread accolades by all well meaning constituents of PKK and beyond.
I want to unequivocally state that, the authors of that mischievous publication were being pound foolish and pennywise for hammering on a paltry four ongoing projects, out of over 100 achievements recorded in the original compendium, to use in their hatchet job to discredit what we have done for our people within a short period of time through a doctored and mutilated compendium.
Let it be on record that the Gungji-Shiwer-Dokpai road project will be completed as my personal and self sponsored project, but the 1.5 km constituency road project awarded on a portion of that road has already been completed.
Our detractors who embarked on this fault-finding mission should brace up for *the Herculean task of discrediting us in the over 200 communities of PKK where we have cited various visible community development initiatives to the excitement of the benefitting communities.
I make bold to assert that I have hundreds and more projects to show for my sojourn at the National Assembly. I am not scampering for what to show to justify for the mandate entrusted on me by the good people of PKK, to go about naming things that do not exist as part of my achievements.
My tangible and verifiable achievements permeate nooks and crannies of PKK to attest to my credibility as a people centred representative.
I shall soon be going round to lay Foundation of new projects and inspect the ongoing projects.
This will certainly clear more thoughts and put to rest all doubts.

The General Officer Commanding(GOC),3 Division Major General Folusho Oyinlola has promised to tackle the current security Challenges bedeviling Plateau State with high sense of fairness without bias or sentiment.
The Newly deployed GOC to the state,who doubled as Commander Operation Save Haven(OPSH), Major General Oyinlola gave the promise during courtesy call to Governor Mutfwang at the New Government House Little Rayfied 4th February 2025.
The Goc who was deployed to the state few weeks ago reiterated his commitment to fair and just approach in addressing the state’s security challenges, aiming to foster a peaceful environment for all citizens.
In his address, Major General Oyinlola emphasized the necessity of maintaining and building upon the achievements of his predecessor in ensuring stability within the Joint Operations Area (JOA) of Plateau and its neighboring regions.
“Our priority is not just to maintain the existing peace in the state but also to enhance it, ensuring that all parties involved feel secure and supported,” he stated.

Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District Simon Bako Lalong has expressed deep shock over the demise of late Miskoom Dr. Godfrey Bawa Shitgurum, MON who passed away recently in Abuja.
Senator Lalong along with his colleagues former Governor of Niger State Senator Sani Bello and Senator representing Plateau North Senatorial District Pam Dachunggyang visited the residence of the deceased in Abuja to commiserate with them.
He said his demise is a big loss to the people of Gamailand, Kwo Chiefdom, QuanPan LGA, Plateau State and Nigeria at large because of his enormous contributions to the development of the society.
His successes in the world of business and entrepreneurship enabled him to create job opportunities for many youths as well as mentor others towards self-reliance and positive engagement are legacies that will follow his memory.
According to him, the deceased deployed his resources and gifts towards philanthropic causes thereby touching the lives of many positively.
Lalong said his contributions to the Church and the spread of the gospel will also not be forgotten in a hurry.

The Baptist community in Nigeria is in mourning over the loss of Reverend Sunday Abolarinwa Olaleye Fabunmi, a distinguished pastor and leader who passed away on Monday, February 3, 2025.
Reverend Fabunmi, who served as the Pastor of First Baptist Church, Jos, and Chairman of the Pastors Fellowship, Plateau Baptist Conference, departed this life after a prolonged illness at the Jos University Teaching Hospital.
“He was a God’s General, a lover of the gospel, whose faith, love, devotion, service will continue to inspire the Church,” said a spokes person for the Media Unit of the Church.
“His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched and the many communities he served.”
In a statement, the Church said: “we regret to announce the passing on to glory of a faithful servant of God, Reverend Abolarinwa Olaleye Sunday Fabunmi, affectionately known as God’s General.
The church prayed that his legacy of faith, love, and service continue to inspire the body of Christ”
The Chairman of the Deaconate of the Church, Dn. Dr. Michael Odeyale said “Reverend Fabunmi was a true servant of God, a passionate preacher, and a compassionate leader. He will be deeply missed, but his impact on the church and body of Christ will never be forgotten.”
As news of Reverend Fabunmi’s passing spread, tributes poured in from across the Baptist community. “He was a giant of faith, a shining example of what it means to live a life dedicated to serving God and humanity,” said Rev. Mrs. Deborah Ayandele, the Children Pastor, First Baptist Church, Jos.
“We will miss him dearly, but we take comfort in knowing that his legacy will continue to inspire us.”, said the President, Youth Fellowship, First Baptist Church, Jos, Mr. Sheyi Mafolasire.
Reverend Fabunmi is survived by his wife, children, siblings, and the body of Christ. Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Church in due course.
With a heavy heart and total submission to the will of almighty God, the Family of Late. Mr Peter Bawa Shitgurum of KWO Chiefdom regret to announce the passing unto glory of Dr. Godfrey Bawa Shitgurum, The Executive Chairman of the DUNCAN Group of Companies.
Dr. Bawa died in the early morning of Sunday, the 2nd day of February, 2025 in Abuja.
Until his death, Dr. Bawa was a notable philanthropist who bagged the National Honour of Member of the Order of the Niger, (M.O.N).
He is survived by his wife, Bishop Tina Bawa, Children, grandchild and Siblings.
Burial arrangements will be announced by the family in due course.
The Employers Association for Private Employment Agencies of Nigeria (EAPEAN) and International Returns and Reintegration Assistance (IRARA) have signed a landmark partnership agreement aimed at providing reintegration assistance to Nigerians returning from Germany to Nigeria.
The agreement, signed at the EAPEAN Secretariat in Lagos, marks a significant milestone in EAPEAN’s history and is a testament to the shared commitment of both organizations to supporting Nigerian returnees.
The partnership is part of the ARRIVES project, funded through the Asylum Migration and Integrated Fund (AMIF) of the European Commission.
Through this partnership, EAPEAN will provide internship and job placement opportunities for returnees, empowering them to reintegrate into Nigerian society and contribute to the country’s economic growth.
IRARA, with its extensive experience in providing reintegration assistance, will work closely with EAPEAN to create a supportive ecosystem that enables returnees to thrive in Nigeria.

The member representing Pankshin, Kanke and Kanam Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Gagdi, was recently hosted on Channels Television on a programme Politics Today, by Seun Okinbaloye.
In the said programme he made assertions which went viral on social media alleging Federal Government’s presence in terms of infrastructural development superceding that of the state in Plateau by ratio 4:1, meaning 80% to 20%.
Gagdi made the assertion with audacity and boastfully wanted to be quoted anywhere being confident that what he was saying was the truth.
But how true is it that the Federal Government’s projects constitute 80% of the entire infrastructures of development on the Plateau while that of the state 20%? When percentage is involved, the sum is graded over 100. Therefore taking 80% out of 100% the difference is 20%.
Gagdi did not specify the governmental dispensation he was talking about and the areas of development.
He made a blanket statement summing all infrastructures and only cited examples with tertiary institutions and political appointments which either way,
whether inclusive or exclusive of governments and their projects, was erroneous.
He said the Federal Government has five higher institutions, but is that true?
First, what’s a tertiary institutions? Tertiary institution is a school that offers formal post-secondary education such as; University college, Polytechnic and so on.
With this, let’s count FG’s tertiary institutions :
Jos University, Federal University of Education Pankshin, Federal Polytechnic Nyak, in Shendam, National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, National Veterinary Research Institute, NVRI, Vom, Federal College of Forestry, Jos, Nigerian Institute of Mining and Geosciences, NTA College, National Film Institute and Police College (though its strictly for Police Personnel).
Let’s see those of the state government :
Plateau State University Bokkos, College of Education Gindiri, Plateau State Polytechnic Barkin Ladi, College of Health Zawan, College of Health Pankshin, College of Agriculture Garkawa and College of Arts and Remedial Studies, Kurgwi.
Here we have 10 to 7. FG has 10 tertiary institutions while the state has 7.
It’s not up to 80% or ratio 4:1. Furthermore, the information given by Gagdi was in incorrect because FG has more than 5 tertiary institutions.
In terms of political appointments, Gagdi said that FG has appointed 21 people from Plateau, but that’s not close to the state’s political appointments which include :
All commissioners of ministries which are 19 or so, heads of agencies, Chief of Staff, Secretary to State Government, Director of Press and Public Affairs, Special Assistants, Personal Assistants and Special Advisers to the governor and so on. Media aides alone are over 204.
The Federal Government Secretariat is not has huge as Plateau State’s. Federal Hospitals in Plateau are :
Jos University Teaching Hospital, JUTH, with branches in Gindiri and Zamko in Langtang South, and Wase Medical Centre.
But the State’s government hospitals are General Hospital :
Pankshin, Dengi, Tunkus, Angware, Langtang North, Mabudi Langtang South and others, Cottage Hospital Mangu and Plateau Specialists Hospital Jos; not to mention several primary healthcare centers owned by local governments.
In terms of the Media, FG has NTA, while Plateau has PRTVC.
The airport and stadia both Rwang Pam and Zaria road are state government’s.
There are so many infrastructures ranging from water plant, agriculture and so on which there is total absence of the Federal Government.
FG has very good presence in Plateau, but does not constitute 80% of the infrastructures of development. In fact is not up to 10%.
If FG’s infrastructures were more than that of the state’s, there would have been more Federal Government workers than the state’s in Plateau working in the institutions.
If his thinking was based on states’ allocations distributed by FG to them and attributed the projects executed by their governments as done by FG, is erroneous too; because FG generates the funds distributed to states from states, thus, it’s the states financing the FG.
Therefore the funds they generated at the centre is what is distributed back to them as federal government allocation alongside the proceeds from natural resources like crude oil.
Imagine there is resource control, will the FG be buoyant financially as it is? If the FG claims the projects, the states will do same.
The states also have internally generated revenue which cannot be assertained whether it was used for projects or salaries.
The funds given to states are theirs and whatever they achieved with them cannot be attributed to FG. The projects executed by FG, is FG’s and those by states, are states’.
Gagdi’s assertion on national/international television attributing 80% of the infrastructures to Federal Government, and 20% to the state, is totally misleading and discrediting of past administrations’ performances right from Joseph Gomwalk to now.
And does not in anyway projected Plateau in good light.
There was excitement on Friday as indigent women, petty traders, and market women gave a rousing welcome to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, during his visit to inspect ongoing construction of shops at Kugiya Market, Bukuru, in Jos South Local Government Area.
The women, in a display of appreciation, sang praises and lauded the Governor’s commitment to improving trading conditions by modernizing market infrastructure to create a more conducive business environment.
While inspecting the new shops and a designated site for additional construction, Governor Mutfwang reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting traders and alleviating their challenges.
“This project is for the benefit of our people and the traders. We are not displacing anyone to bring in new traders. Existing traders will be given priority, so there is no need for panic.
All we require is full cooperation. We cannot continue to operate in 20th-century structures in the 21st century.
“We are introducing modernization, organization, and order into our markets. This will not only enhance trading activities but also enable us to properly identify traders and facilitate access to credit facilities that will help them expand their businesses.
This is a win-win situation for all of us, and I urge market leaders to sensitize their members on the need for cooperation and collaboration for the greater economic good of our state,” the Governor stated.
Governor Mutfwang, whose people-centered governance approach continues to resonate with the citizens, assured that his administration remains committed to policies that have a direct and positive impact on the lives of the people.
“Beyond what the Jos Metropolis Development Board (JMDB) is doing, we are restructuring market management in the state.
The former Jos Marketing Authority will now be the Plateau Market Authority, which will oversee all markets across the state.
Our goal is to ensure that people can access the market with ease, conduct their business conveniently, and return home without hassle.
“We have no other intention but to improve the living standards of our people. Once these shops are fully completed, everyone will appreciate our vision of rebuilding the state. This project is just a model, and we intend to replicate it across the Jos-Bukuru metropolis,” he added.
The General Manager of the Jos Metropolis Development Board (JMDB), Arc. Hart Bankat, who conducted the Governor around the market, revealed that over 200 shops are currently under construction to enhance ease of doing business in the area.
He assured that priority would be given to traders displaced during the construction, as well as indigent persons, to help sustain their means of livelihood.
The setback encountered which hampered the scheduled flag-off of Professor Patrick Sunday Dakum’s foundation in November 2024, is finally over, thus paving way for the take-off soon.

In line with the directives of the Inspector General of Police, (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun, the Commissioner of Police Plateau State Command, (CP), Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, wishes to inform all Plateau residents that full enforcement of the Third-Party Motor vehicle Insurance Policy requirement will commence on February 1, 2025.
The Third-Party Insurance Act as contained in Section 68 of the Insurance Act and Sections 1, 2 – 3 of the Motor Vehicle Act, mandates all vehicle owners within the country to obtain a minimum of Third-Party Insurance before operating on any Nigerian road.

According to the statement,the Commissioner of Police has observed with concern, that majority of the vehicles operating within the State are not insured.

In a bit to address this issue, the Commissioner of Police Plateau State Command in collaboration with relevant Security agencies and other Governmental bodies, has commenced the immediate enforcement of the Third Party Motor Vehicle Insurance Policy and urges all vehicle owners within the State to please comply with this Government policy to avoid any bridge of the law.
CP Adesina also wishes to inform the general public that, the Third Party Insurance Policy does the following, among others;
Ensures that victims of road accidents receive necessary compensation.
It provides medical coverage for injuries and damages sustained during travel.
It strengthens the insurance industry and creates employment opportunities for Nigerian youths.
Promotes a Responsible Driving Culture within the State.
The Commissioner of Police therefore, urges all vehicle owners within Plateau State to immediately obtain a valid Third-Party Insurance to avoid facing legal consequences.
To this end, the CP has warned all officers and men of the Command to ensure a strict implementation of this policy throughout the State in accordance with the law. He has also warned all officers against any form of corrupt practices during the period of implementing this policy.

As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and address its current challenges, Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, joined his counterparts at the PDP Governors’ Forum Meeting held in Asaba, Delta State.
The meeting, chaired by the Forum Chairman and Governor of Bauchi State, Sen. Bala Mohammed, provided a platform for peer review of developmental initiatives across PDP-governed states and a critical assessment of national and party affairs as the year 2024 came to a close.
In a communique issued at the end of the meeting, the Forum commended PDP Governors for implementing people-centered policies and programs aimed at alleviating hardships while laying the foundation for sustainable development in their respective states.
The Forum expressed deep concern over the macroeconomic policies of the Federal Government, which have exacerbated hardship across the nation. It urged the Federal Government to urgently revisit and reform these policies to mitigate their adverse effects on Nigerians.
The Governors welcomed ongoing efforts to resolve the dispute within the National Working Committee (NWC) over the position of the National Secretary. After reviewing all legal requirements for convening a valid National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, the Forum recommended that the NWC reschedule the NEC meeting for March 13, 2025.
The Forum commended the nation’s Armed Forces and security agencies for their relentless efforts in safeguarding the country, particularly in countering banditry and insurgency. However, it also noted with grave concern the resurgence of non-state actors engaging in acts of violence and called for the strengthening of the nation’s security architecture to decisively address these threats.
The Forum expressed gratitude to the Host Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, as well as the Government and People of Delta State, for their warm hospitality and for facilitating a successful, well-structured, and impactful meeting.
It also praised Governor Oborevwori for his notable achievements in infrastructure development, environmental sustainability, empowerment programs, and security.

The Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, on Thursday, paid a courtesy visit to the German Ambassador to Nigeria, Her Excellency Annette Günther, to seek collaboration in key sectors, including healthcare, agricultural development, renewable energy, and peacebuilding for enhanced security.
During his visit to the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Abuja, Governor Mutfwang expressed appreciation to the German Government for its continued cooperation with Plateau State, particularly in capacity-building initiatives for women and youth in modern agriculture.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to participating in the upcoming Nigeria-Germany Cultural Exchange Program, scheduled for the second and third quarters of the year.
According to him, this initiative will foster stronger ties between Plateau State and the German community, opening doors for greater collaboration.
Highlighting areas of potential cultural partnership, the Governor revealed that Plateau State is undertaking the reconstruction of the Luka Bentu Indoor Theatre, assuring that the project would receive significant attention this year.
On healthcare, Governor Mutfwang emphasized the state’s desire to improve its health sector by leveraging Germany’s advanced healthcare system.
He sought support for manpower training and the deployment of renewable energy solutions in health facilities to enhance disease prevention and reduce maternal mortality rates.
He also announced plans, in collaboration with the Federal Government, to expand the runway of Yakubu Gowon Airport to transform it into a cargo hub for the export of vegetables and other agricultural products to Europe and beyond.
In the area of digital innovation, Governor Mutfwang disclosed that his administration is working with the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy to improve ICT infrastructure in the state.
He solicited the support of the German Government in accelerating the process to create a more robust digital ecosystem.
Responding, Ambassador Annette Günther commended Governor Mutfwang for his visionary leadership and developmental strides in Plateau State.
She assured him of Germany’s continued support in agriculture, peacebuilding, capacity development, and the digital economy.
She further revealed that over 4,000 farmers in Plateau State, including 40% women, have benefited from German-funded training programs designed to enhance inclusivity, efficiency, and sustainability in the agricultural value chain.
The Ambassador also highlighted Germany’s strong commitment to student exchange programs, noting that Nigeria remains the largest beneficiary of German scholarships.
She encouraged Plateau State to explore these opportunities to further develop its human capital.
Speaking on peacebuilding efforts, Dr. Karin Jansen, First Secretary and Head of Cooperation at the German Embassy, stated that the German Development Agency (GIZ) is actively funding the Peace Corps Project to strengthen conflict resolution mechanisms and enhance peacebuilding efforts in the state.
The Youth Wing Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN), Delta State Chapter, is set to host a Leadership Summit on February 1st, 2025, at the CAN Ecumenical Centre, Asaba, Delta State.
The summit, themed “Bridging the Generational Gap” (Malachi 4:5-6, Hebrew 13:7), aims to bring together Christian youths, leaders, and stakeholders to foster unity, knowledge sharing, and growth.
The summit will feature distinguished guest speakers, including Dr. Kingsley Emu, Secretary to the State Government, Delta State, and Bishop Jude Akhere. Other notable dignitaries expected to attend include the Director for Women, Youth & Education, Delta State, and Rev. Lucky Osagbakhoe, CAN Chairman, Delta State, who will serve as the Chief Host.
