By, Giwa Alex,JOS

The Royal father said for some time now, he has been devoting his time calming down the fray nerves of  vibrant youths of the Berom Nation to avoid the state going on flame.

The Berom Royal Father Da Jacob Gyang Buba handed down the warning at the celebration of this year 2019 annual Berom Cultural festival “Nzem Berom”held at the Rwang Pam Township stadium in JOS the plateau state capital.

Gbong Gwom JOS who is the Chairman Plateau State traditional council said I have  never heard  both in my experience and history where the government redefine traditional boundaries that have hitherto coexist Peacefully and without misunderstanding between two ethics groups.

The creation of the two traditional councils – Jos North and Riyom – has effectively whittled down the powers of the paramount ruler who superintends over traditional rulers in the four local governments that make up  Jos Joint traditional Council.

With the split however, the Gbong Gwom jos is left with only two local governments – Jos South and Barkin-Ladi.

The monarch Da Jacob Gyang Buba call on Governor Simon Bako Lalong to direct his energy to address the state land use Act that had been begging for government attention .

“The country had a Land Use Act with the customary rights of land ownership embedded in it.”

“All over Nigeria, land belongs to communities, families and individuals. We want to appeal that government must not take actions that will bring security challenges to Plateau.

“Yesterday night, I had to appeal to the Berom nation and its vibrant youths to please calm down.
“I told them that as sensitive as the issue is perceived, it has not gone beyond the Berom traditional institution, the elders and the Berom organisations.

“We will sit with government and educate government about what it is; we hope we will have the listening ear of the governor to make amends where they have made errors.

“There is no human being that is perfect, we all make mistakes.
“We appeal to the Berom nation to please calm down. We will follow due process and we are absolutely sure that God will not forsake us,” the monarch maintained.

He further add that the had write a well worded letter to governor Lalong led government, to as matter of urgency to revisit all hitherto Commission of enquiry results with a view of implementation.

“I had cause to write to the state government reminding it of reports of three judicial commissions of inquiry between 1994 to 2009.”

“All the judicial commissions of inquiry agreed with the position that Jos belongs to the Afizere, Anaguta and the Berom.
“I wrote a letter last year reminding the governor of this and requesting him to allow traditional rulers of these tribes to sit with the state boundary commission to determine everybody’s boundary.

“I am still appealing to government to look into this.
“We don’t want a situation where government policy will bring chaos between neighbors, brothers and sisters that have lived together in peace over the ages,” he said.

Damishi Sango Sets To Take Over PDP Secretariat On Friday

By,Giwa Alex, Jos

The crisis rocking the leadership of the People Democratic Party (PDP) in plateau state may not end soon as the embattled chairman of the party in the state has vowed to take over the state Secretariat of the party on Friday 17th May,2019.

As he said a strong worded message has been send to Chris Hassan and his co travellers  who is currently Acting as the party chairman in the state to honourably religuish the chairman seat to the rightful owner or risk been force out.

Group under the auspices of Concerned Unity Forum(CUF)a political group gave the warning yesterday in Peaceful demonstration held at Abrahim Taiwo Road adjacent PDP State Secretariat in JOS the plateau state capital.

Spokesman of the group, Hon Dakas Nathaniel Dakas in an interview with our correspondent in JOS the plateau state capital,  on Tuesday, 14th May, 2019,
The group urged the aggrieved parties to lay down their differences and give peace a chance to reign.

He said as concerned members, the unity group is not interested in the lingering crisis brewing within the members of the party but it wants to ensure that no one is benefitting from what it called “ illegality with what is happening to the party in the state now”.

He said: “We condemn some group of party faithfuls who refused to follow the due process in addressing the crisis but warn those who are illegally occupying the secretariat to urgently leave the environment before Friday.”

Dakas reiterated that the Chairman, Hon Damishi Sango should be allowed to hold say at the secretariat until the determination of investigation of allegations against his exco by the national working community of PDP

The Group displaying placards with inscriptions in favour of embattled Chairman Sango, during a protest at the party secretariat in Jos, on Tuesday

The leadership tussle threatening the soul of the Plateau State Chapter of the local PDP is apparently creating tense moments within the party and to a large extend the entire state, if not properly handled, as it is still has strong follower ship in the state. The incumbent governor Simon Lalong won the last poll with reasonable wide   margin as both parties polled over half a million votes each.

The impending threat is not far from the sacking of the Damishi Sango leadership and his Deputy, Amos Gombi over allegations of corruption and misappropriation of party funds, and the subsequently appointment of the former Vice Chairman, (North) Hon. Chris Hassan to man the affairs of the party. The new dimension is that, the Sango support group have viewed the sanction against his leadership as an affront to a constituted authority and as such sees it as a platform and a worthy cause to meet resistance.

The Concern Unity Group, which on Tuesday staged a peaceful protest at the party Secretariat in Jos, is seen as sponsored by loyalists of Sango to send warning signal to the Chris Hassan led group to vacate the Party Secretariat on, or before Friday for the interest of peace.

The protesters were carrying placards with inscriptions; Sango is still our authentic PDP Chairman among others

Addressing Journalists shortly after the protest, leader of the group, Dakas Nathaniel Dakas alongside the Youth leaders, Mike Nyako and Chollom Haruna said they that have completed arrangements to lead D.T Sango to reclaim his office on Friday.

According to them, the action is informed by the fact that since after the ‘purported sacking’ of Sango and Co, the National Secretariat of the party had sent a delegation and advised the Chris Hassan Exco to maintain status quo pending the outcome of the investigation, but have “the ‘usurpers’ had failed to comply.”

They added that their concern is for due process to be followed and that Sango should be investigated, if need be, before any further action is taken.

“Two wrongs can’t make a right, why should the Chris Hassan group refused to adhere to the advise of the National Secretariat?”, they asked rhetorically.

“We have called you here to help us tell them; those illegally occupying the PDP Secretariat led by Chris Hassan who claimed to have impeached the authentic Chairman, D.T Sango, to vacate the office on or before Friday because we are going to escort Sango to reclaim his office on Friday.

“Our elder statesman, distinguished Senator J.T Useni had even cautioned them but they have refused, and therefore we want peace and will do everything possible to ensure that the right thing is done”

Although, as at the time if filing this report, nobody from Chris Hassan camp was on ground to comment.
