PLHA Members Behind Illegal Impeachment Of Abok Ayuba Suspended.

Lawmakers of the Plateau State House of Assembly has Suspended Six members of the state assembly who were involved in the illegal impeachment of Hon.Abok Ayuba for gross misconduct, insubordination and legislative rascality.

Moving the motion for the suspension of the six lawmakers during plenary ,Majority leader plateau House of assembly Hon .Philip Dasun Said their Suspension became necessary owing to their act of insubordination and gross misconduct for attempts to cause disunity in the house.

Datsun said the lawmakers who are desperate attempted to impeach the Speaker in the early hours of the day 28th Oct,2021, but failed haven been induced with millions of naira from Governor Bako Lalong there by suspended.

The Majority leader Philip Dasun Said the suspended members are as follows

Saleh Yipmong Dengi (APC)

Nanlong Daniel Mikang,(APC)

Yakubu Sanda Pengana,APC)

Mohammed Balo Quan Pan South(APC)

Eric Dakogoal Quan Pan North(APC)

Baba Hassan(APC) Jos north north

Hon.Dasun further add that the house leadership has also pass a vote of Confidence on the speaker of the house of assembly Abok Nuhu for his leadership qualities which is a clear indication of his acceptability by the plateau people.

Supporting the motion for the suspension of the lawmakers the minority leader Peter Gyangdeng described the actions of the suspended Lawmakers as an act of illegality and said the house will not tolerate interference by executive.

He also supported the motion for a vote of Confidence passed on the Speaker Abok Nuhu Ayuba for his strong leadership qualities and people driven legislative programs which has endured him to the people of plateau state.

It would be recalled that as early as 8am 28th Oct,2021,six lawmakers constitutes themselves into dissidents group attempted to remove the speaker from Office.

The New Elected Chairman of Jos East LG of Plateau state,Hon Yakubu Izang Ezekiel has promised to tackle the issues of insecurity and attract developmental projects to Jos East LG of Plateau state under his watch.

As he promised to create conducive atmosphere for agricultural farming to strive considering the that the people of the council are farmers which will improve the Council’s Internal Generated Revenue (IGR).

Hon.Yakubu Izang who was elected the council boss few weeks ago stated this in an interview with journalists at the Council’s Secretariat recently ,reel out his plans for the council under his watch as the Executive Chairman of Jos East LG.

“On what the people of the council expect from him as the chairman of Jos East LG,Hon.Izang said,as grassroot person ,I am very much conversant with the challenges of the local government,we have quite a lot of challenges.

And add that we are making sure we swing into action towards addressing the challenges confronting our people .

He stressed that the key issues in our agenda is Security, without peaceful coexistence no any meanful development can be achieved.

“So we want to ensure that our Council live in peace and harmony to ensure the Peaceful nature of our people which they are hitherto know for is maintained.

The chairman who vowed to do anything humanly possible to tackle insecurity head on further add that ,we will do anything within our power to ensure Security is given proper attention it deserves in the council under my watch.

Hon.Yakubu said because the major occupation of the people of the local government is agriculture, he will encourage the use of modern farm Implements that will boost high agricultural yields that will increase the Council’s (IGR) following the economic challenges globally ,we have to look inward towards addressing some of the challenges .

He said the other aspects the council under my watch hope to give attention is the area of infrastructural developmental development “when you were coming,you saw the condition of our road leading to the Council’s headquarters which needs urgent attention to address some of these challenges , so that those who farm will find it easy to transport their farm produce to the market.

The chairman said the other area his administration will look into Is the provision of portable drinking water ,

” Those living in the rural areas find it difficult in getting portable drinking water ,we have directed all our Counsellors of the council to go to their respective districts and find out those boreholes you know are bad condition and report back to us with the view of fixing them for use.

“You know we are just coming on board, with no resource on ground, but we have to create impact .”

To start with ,we have instructed all the counselors to go round to their various wards and districts and identify those boreholes that are not functional with the view of activating them.

“We want to improve on that by ensuring our people have good drinking water.”he maintained.

“I have identify education as another critical area his administration will work hard to improve on under my watch because any society that are not educated is improvish and promised to liberate his people from the shackles of educational backwardness and illiteracy currently steering our people on the faces.

“We want to also look on the area of health with the view of delivery qualitative health to our people in Jos east local government of Plateau state if God permit.

On the aspect of workers welfare,the chairman said he had held meet with the directors of departments of the council and intend to meet with NULGE,”you know we can’t function effectively without the workers of the council”.

“I was a staff of the council before I retired and joined politics I know the important of workers ,we try as much as possible to see how we can carry everyone along to ensure that their working environment is improved ,I think on that area l wouldn’t jeopardize it.

The chairman stressed that he hope to set up Committee with the view of wooing investors to come and invest on the mineral deposit that are abound in the local government.

“I already have a plan of setting up a committee that can look into ways we can improve our revenue generation “.

“We most provide enably environment for investor to come in, firstly , if we have a peaceful coexistence ,investors will be willing to come “.

We want to also see how we can partner with Non Governmental Organization (NGO’S)with the dwingling resources of the council ,the (NGO) can be of help in that area .

“We want to use the Committee to explore on how we can improve our (IGR),if we are able to do that ,we will be able to know the areas we can make resources ,income and can create revenue for the council .”

We have to look inward because we cannot continue to rely on the federal pulse.

On his template to improve the council”we want to ensure that the voices of critical stakeholders are heard ,we don’t want to run a one man show .

“Nobody knows it all , when you get people involve they we help you bring ideas that will move the council forward .”

“Like the religious bodies , tribal association , Youth organization and traditional councils we would bring them together so that we can bring our head together and see how best we can move the council forward,”

“And their inputs will be highly respected “.he stressed.

Electronic Transmission;How INEC slayed The Dragon.

First, let me congratulate the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Mahmud Yakubu, all his staff and the Members of the National Assembly Committees on INEC for re-enkindling our hope in the building of our Democracy.

The passage of the Bill to enable INEC transmit election results electronically both the House and the Senate is worthy of celebration. It seems a simple and straight forward activity. However, this is Nigeria where nothing is ever simple or straight forward. I am hopeful that President Muhammad Buhari will go ahead and sign the Bill into Law immediately. In doing so, he will give credence to his commitment to giving the country the gift of a better INEC than the one he met. This is a turning point for our nation.

When Neil Armstrong landed on the moon on July 17th, 1969, he said to a stunned world, This is a small step, but a giant leap for mankind. I feel the same about this development.

The reader might accuse me of exaggeration or wondering what there is to celebrate. However, if you live in a country which thrives in self-flagellation, openly embraces fraud, thrives in duplicity, skullduggery, subterfuge and barefaced

underhandedness even at the highest level, then, this stab at the elephant of corruption should not be taken lightly. It is the first in a million stabs that will follow before we slay the dragon of corruption in Nigeria. The journey has begun but there is hope ahead.

We will all be right to assume that in human terms, fraud is built into any process of human transaction because each always seeks to take advantage of the rules of engagement by subversion one way or the other. Each process of transaction poses a moral dilemma. We are often offered tips on how to cope by such saying as; when faced with two evils, choose a lesser one. However, if we see evil as intrinsic, then it should not be judged by size especially given that with time, it will grow.

Faced with moral probity in our struggle for power in Nigeria, we have always said it is better to choose a lesser evil. However, with time, these lesser evils grew with practice and refinement until they became embedded in the fabric of our collective lives. With time, we saw yesterday’s thugs, ballot box stuffers and snatchers, vote pilferers, all mutate into respectability.

With time, in return for their perfidy they got rewarded with promotions and appointments once their sponsors got to power. With time, their fingers became firm in holding and climbing the greasy poles of politics. With time, the little plants developed sturdy roots, with corruption as its nutrients. With time, Nigeria soon became a massive forest adorned with rotten fruits of its political sins.

With time, some of these thugs of yesterday actually went all the way to the top and gradually, the proceeds of corruption filtered into the blood of sacrifice for political power in Nigeria. With time and before our eyes, Nigerian politics descended into sorcery, voodooism, necromancy and divination. The falcon could no longer hear the falconer as the country slid down and down.

Appropriation from the State and institutional capture became the next goal for political activity. Whereas lawyers, engineers, doctors, or even mechanics, masons, tailors often made legitimate claims of their qualifications by adorning their offices with the relevant

certificates, politics is the only profession that you do not need any qualification to join. Thus, as the years have rolled by, the rules of the game became subordinated to the whims and caprices of the key political elite. In turn, the political class in our country has continued to operate below the radar of legitimacy.

The most dangerous time for any country is when its criminal class seek to become what the mafia calls, legitimate. They start by identifying and literally taking over key institutions. They place their cronies in key public offices or, when they cannot, they resort to blackmailing those who stand up to them. They set their eyes on key institutions such as the Judiciary, the Legislative bodies, the Security agencies or holders of key public offices. They fund their cronies in politics. Then, they wear a toga of invincibility, walking with the swagger and defiance of catch-me-if-you-can.

In this way, through some form of dialysis, their blood continue to circulate within the system until they poison the entire national blood system. Recall that had Abba Kyari not saved us from Chief Evans, the kidnapper king, he would probably have been on the ballot in Anambra as he himself confessed. It is against this backdrop that I am excited about the prospects of the signing of this Bill into law.

This development does not mean that the bad days are over. If anything, it means that the forces of darkness will fight back and seek to subvert this new law. The criminals and their cronies will get to work and, as we have seen with the Internet, the fraudsters are often ahead of the game. INEC has to scale up its technological innovation and create a firewall to protect these gains.

Those who are used to living under the radar will try to side step the law no matter how tight it seems. As we all know in Nigeria, over time, electoral corruption has been the stuff of hundreds of anecdotes. Political actors with dubious characters have been the subject of political characterization by writers. Chinua Achebe took on this theme quite early. In his novel, A Man of the People, Chief Nanga represents the typical money-miss-road, smash and grab politician. He spends money like san san before his hapless constituents. He represents political malfeasance in Nigeria.

In another little collection of short stories titled, Girls at War, Chinua Achebe tells the story of a voter who faced a moral dilemma on voting day. I remember the story faintly. I think the man was an official of his party. All key party members were under oath not to take a bribe or act against the party. However, before the date of elections, the opposition offered him a bribe he could not resist. On voting day, he went to the tent, held out his ballot paper, thought ruefully about his moral dilemma. However, to honour both and satisfy a crooked conscience, he folded his ballot paper into two equal parts, tore it and then dropped one half for both the party and the opposition that had bribed him.

Let me end by offering a few reasons why I believe that this is really a turning point moment for our Democracy. First this has potential for changing the face of Nigerian politics for good. It will restore Trust, that much missing link between Nigerians and the political elite. The lack of trust in the political process accounts for voter apathy in Nigeria. Nigerians have become despondent and convinced that their votes would never account. This has opened up politics to those men and women of violence who have taken our nation hostage by violence.

Second, is the demystification of the electoral processes. The scales will fall from our eyes, the walls separating lies and subterfuge which have allowed too many camels to pass through the eyes of the needle of truth will fall. The clarity of the process will naturally empower citizens that their vote has power and encourage them to go out and vote. Those who have taunted the system have their days numbered.

Third, citizens will now take full responsibility for their votes and how they cast them. The stock market of fake electoral currencies is now closed. We cannot blame anyone now for our misfortunes if we vote wrongly. The days of whether-you-voted-for-us-we-must-win will end. Yesterday was for the thief, today is the day for the owner of the vote.

Four, fake and midnight pastors and Imams may have to look elsewhere for cheap money from politicians desperate for endorsement. Very soon, our anointing oils or royal blessings will no longer be required for the manufacturing of votes. There are no prayers for winning elections just as there are no prayers for stopping the traffic lights. Corrupt judges waiting for Tribunals to ambush the process along with their high profile lawyer counterparts now have to look elsewhere.

Five, this is the dawn of technology which will shame those who have invested in preying on the ignorance and vulnerability of their people and continue to exploit them. Magic and sorcery have no future.

We hope the National Assembly will continue to appropriate the required funding to enable INEC embrace the required technology. If we do this, perhaps, Nigeria’s days of shame might come to an end sooner than later. A few other things have to happen before we start our celebrations and INEC has requested that on the whole, human interference, manipulation, should be replaced with technology.

Six, Rather sadly, the writers of the Electoral Act did not anticipate something like the Card Reader. Those sections of the Act that did not foresee technological advancement should be immediately eliminated and the doors fully thrown open for INEC to use its researchers to explore the limitless frontiers of technological possibilities. Thus, the electronic transmission of results is contingent on other technologies such as; a biometric register, electronic accreditation of voters, electronic balloting and collation of results. It is a successful sequencing of these phases that will mark the turning point for us. It is still a long road ahead but it is one of promise for us.

Finally, praise must go to the civil society family, who have remained committed to the principles of Democracy. Our friend and brother, Emma Ezeazu who founded the Alliance for Credible Elections and our sister, Barrister Esther Uzoma both of blessed memory must be smiling in their graves. They were relentless in their passion for credible elections in Nigeria. Whether the National Assembly has seen the light or they are responding to the heat of civil society, the struggle must go on.

Abbey who is currently the Commissioner for Commerce and industry in the state made the promise in a press briefing dated 24th October,2021 ,held at the Bishop Court Jos, plateau state.

Abbey further add that jos North/Bassa Constituency under his watch ,I shall vigorously lobby for projects to the Constituency using my connection as the former senior legislative Aide in the National Assembly armed with the dynamics .

The commissioner who want to be judged as reformist promised the passage of important bills that will impact positively on the people of the Constituency,by extension Plateau state,and regular consultation of my Constituency.

He however appealed to the other aspirants contesting for the Bye-election and other election to shun campaign of Calumny aimed at smearing the reputation of Political opponents which is capable of sowning the seed of hatred and bitterness .

Hon. Abbey, frawned at the recent publication made by anonymous person with a bide to create mischief.

“I wouldn’t have not joining issues over a write up by a faceless person since in democracy , freedom of expression is encouraged.

He however described the write up as the handing work of mischief makers who are spreading falsehood that his candidature is endorse by religious body.

We equally want to pass a vote of confidence on him being a worthy son and Ambassador of Jos Jarawa ward and Jos North as a whole. He has our full backing,

blessings and support to Continue to run the affairs of the party as the state Chairman haven followed due process of the party Constitution by purchasing the forms of the party and been affirmed by the party faithfuls to be the authentic Chairman of the greatest party in nigeria.

As stakeholders of the Party, we wish to Sate Categorically that nobody has the Monopoly of dislodging this noble gentleman who has put in so much to ensure the party is intact and united Hon. Ishaya Itse has been supporting the party both morality and financially.

As peace loving Supporters who has been fore runners of the party since the emergence of the party in 2014 ,we cannot remain mute and his hard earned reputation dragged the mud by desperate and in productive members of the party who has brought forward baseless propaganda and allegations and empty threats that if not well handled can led to the destruction of the party and if not properly handled can led to the distinction of the party and all the effort of the rescue adminstration will go down the drain we cannot allow that to happen .

We therefore wish to extend olive branch to such individuals who due to financially induction and threat have abandoned the truth for Stomach infrastructure to the drawing board so that we can move the party forward not only at the ward level,but at the state at large.

Sylvester Namang : The Return Of a Spent Force In Plateau State.

It is quite interesting that of all the vibrant media personalities in the Apc, the only person Governor Simon Lalong could see is the 19th century, exhausted spent force, Sylvester Namang to salvage a supposedly ruling party at such a time.

Retired and tired, Namang has truly revealed what he can do by giving a tales by moonlight story instead of sending out concise press statements with factual information about the state of a downing party that is been pillared by the desperation of a failed blind principal, Governor Simon Lalong who believed that loyalty is competence.

Struggling to catch the public attention with kindergarten media thinking, we are very sure that even Lalong himself is not impressed by the media approach and thoughts of his new factional party spokesman.

But what can they actually do? They can not give what they don’t have. Bringing in such a man to salvage himself ( Namang) from retirement or to salvage a party struggling for legitimacy and striving on falsehood, deceit and dictatorship to survive can only but complicate its already battered image.

The APC in Plateau State is a sorry story of chronic deceit and fraud. How else can the party clean and convince itself with the prevailing state of political intolerance, especially the outcome of its selective state congress, where a whole unelected state exco is parading itself with the support of the Governor as the party’s leadership?

Governor lalong and his new recruited story teller should note that this gimmick is dead on arrival.

Plateau people can not be deceived the second time.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is a party founded on true values of democracy with a sound focus to contribute to the growth and development of the state,while APC is only playing the ostrich by it’s continued deceit and attempt to play on the peoples intelligence through lies and propaganda.

Namang should be ashame of himself for coming at such a time when there is nothing to defend of a party that has inflicted untold hardship on the people.

With reckless mismanagement of billions of naira on wasteful ventures, misguided political calculations , we can only but imagine how Lalong is thinking of life after 2023.

The state has been in the saddle for the past 6 years with absolutely nothing on ground to justify huge revenues. Lalong has even forgotten the many promises and pledges he made to the people. Is that how to be the Vice President of Nigeria or to be the Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria? Only time shall tell.

The level of infrastructural decay in the state is unparalleled and unprecedented. Even traveling across the state under lalong’s government today takes the whole day because of the deplorable condition of our roads. That is the new identity of the Governor and his now factional APC.

When Jonah David Jang was Governor of the state, people can freely move from one point to the other in an hour. Now six years down the line, even Lalong himself finds it difficult to move around instead he is using chopper flying to his home town ajikamai.

We therefore call on Slyvanus Namang to go back to the school of journalism which he has left many years ago, to refine his mind so as to fit into the new level of media administration, management and propaganda and not the crude and local type of Lalong’s descriptive journalism.

For him to enjoy any form of legitimacy and respect, Namang should immediately accord respect to the rightful owner of the occupant of the office of state publicity secretary of the Apc in Plateau,.thats the Hon Ishaya Itse’s popular faction.

We know the socalled Rufus Bature faction did not buy nomination forms neither was there any election that produced them. They should stop deceiving Plateau with cheap lies and uncooked propaganda.

Nanmang and the APC should be ashame of being corrected all the time because of their intellectual laziness and lack of political pedigree. What Plateau needs now is transparent governance built on honest and sincere democratic leadership. Its obvious Lalong has nothing to handover to the next administration come 2023, but he should not make it worst for the incoming administration.

1,000 APC Members, Others Defect To PDP In Bauchi State.

No fewer than 1,000 members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Peoples Redemption Party ,PRP and All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Dass Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

Receiving the defectors at a ceremony held at the Government Lodge in Dass, PDP chairman in the area, Alhaji Sani Korau, welcomed the defectors to the ruling party.

According to Korau, from the inception of the Fourth Republic in 1999, Dass was never in the opposition until recently as a result of certain reasons, which he said had been politically resolved.

The party local government chairman disclosed that the resolution of the issues had made it possible for PDP to experience mass return of the former members back to the party.

In his speech at the event, PDP state deputy chairman, Bala Hadith, while urging the new members to support the party for the betterment of the state and the country at large, declared that the PDP was not only a united party but also the most powerful political party in Africa.

Also in her address, the state Commissioner for Science and Technology, Maryam Garba Bagel, said the defection was a great development for PDP, saying that it was mandatory for members to work hard for the party’s success in the state, particularly in Dass LGA in view of the good works going on in the state under the administration of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad.

Plateau State : Court Dismisses Bokkos APC Case For Lack Of Jurisdiction.

Plateau State High Court on Friday 22nd Oct,2021 has described the suit on Bokkos Local Government All Progressive Congress (APC) candidature as”Status Bar” and dismissed it for lack of jurisdiction.

Justice Geoffrey Kamyal of Plateau State High Court 10 made the declaration in his judgement on the suit filed by Mr Mallo Best, an APC aspirant against his opponent, Mr Joseph Guluwa over a controversial party primaries held on June 23rd 2021 in Bokkos.

The judge said that the Plaintiff, Best, did not file the case within the 14 days as required by section 285(9) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) being a pre-election matter, and rendered it “status bar.”

“Having filed this suit 14 days after the stipulated time frame as contained in section 285(9) of the 1999 Constitution as amended, it’s status bar, and therefore deprived this court the jurisdiction to entertain it.

“By that law, which the supreme Court also ruled upon, the implementation is that it deprives the Court the jurisdiction on this suit and fore closed the litigan’s right to institute a cause of action, “

“Where a suit is status bar, the Court lacks the jurisdiction to entertain it,therefore this court found this case status bar and is hereby dismissed,” Kamyal declared.

The Judge had explained that by the submissions of the Plaintiff, he got win of the Guluwa’s APC candidature status for the Oct 9 Plateau Council Polls on July 19, when he (Best) wrote to PLASIEC to confirm in a letter submitted as Exhibit H.

He explained that date July 19th 2021 was the date of consent but that the filing of the suit on Aug 19, which is above the 14 days requirement for pre-election matters, rendered it status bar.

This medium reports that Best, had through his Counsel, Mr Munir Abdullahi, filed a case before the court contesting the outcome of the party’s primaries held in Bokkos Local Government Area on June 23rd 2021 by their party, APC.

Best, in an originating Summon, told the court that APC, allegedly goofed when it announced Mr Joseph Guluwa as its Bokkos LGA’s candidate for the Oct. 9th Council polls held in Plateau.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after the judgement, Mr Nantok Dashur, Counsel to Guluwa and PLASIEC, (2nd and 3rd defendants respectively, described the judgement as “very sound” and”apt.”

Dashur said that the judge acted in accordance with the law, considering the fact that the suit was Status Bar for falling short of the law, and couldn’t be entertained.

Responding, Best, through his Counsel, Abdullahi, said that he would carefully study the judgement and take the necessary action.

The trial of Shehu Jatau &3 ors has resumed on Thursday 12st Oct,2021 in Jos Division of Plateau State High Court , who allegedly killed Apolos ,Nanven and Nanlir all deceased in Jawuri ,Boltak communities of Kadarko district in Wase Local Government of Plateau State.

The trial of Shehu Jatau and 3 others before Justice S.P Gang of the State High Court in Plateau state with four prosecution witness, PW 11-15 Mrs Janet Nanven,Mrs Angelina Dogo ,Mrs Ladi Ponven and Lucy Apolos providing more details on how Shehu Jatau and his boys shot the three persons to death while trying to escape their deadly onslaught 2 years ago at Jawuri ,allegedly riding on Motorbike by Nanjul .

Thurday trial was initially slated to take four witness evidence which captured dastardly action taken by Shehu Jatau and his dissidents boys over the alledged massacre of women and children in jawuri.

The widows of the husbands now deceased, who speaks in Hausa language and interpreted by the court clerk couldn’t explained and ask PW11 Mrs Janet Nanven ,whose husband died instantly from gunshot of Shehu Jatau and his dissidents group that scared them to run into a hideout before they drove to their compound and instructed them to lay on the ground .

The PW11-15 in their separate evidence before the court , narrated the involvement on the murder of many people by the accused persons, Shehu and his dissidents group after sporadic shootings, blocked all entrances to the community to ensure nobody comes in and out .

Mrs Janet Nanven recognized Shehu Jatau and Nanjul as the mastermind of the dastardly massacre of people , in their evidence, recalled her previous encounter with how the defendants who came from Kurmi of Taraba state unleashed terror on the people of the Community 12th July,2019 when her son came for school fees and herself along with the husband Nanven intensified preparation for the son returning back to Pil-Gani where the son now deceased is schooling .

They further told the court their ugly experience in the hands of Shehu Jatau and his blood thirsty boys who had sentenced many of the Community people to untimely death .

“We reported the incident to our village head who later reported to the Wase Divisional headquarters ” .

Meanwhile, Lucy Apolos explained that Shehu Jatau was the Ponzhi Kurmi in Taraba State yet he sneak into Jawuri to wreck havoc on the people of the community .

“We abandon our home in Boltak to take refuge at Jawuri but one faithful Friday evening, we were cooking when we heard sporadic gunshots in all direction of Jawuri little do we know that Shehu Jatau was coming to unleash mayhem on us sacking the entire residents”.

“Close to the river bank where we were about to escape through ,we saw how corpses of our husbands with mutilated body on pool of blood,she narrated “.

Mrs Ladi,Angelina ,Lucy and Janet both witness gave a vivid account of their encountered with Shehu Jatau and his killers squad where security personnel were not spear ,our farm produce including animals were carted away .

We beg Shehu Jatau to spear our lives by kneeling down to plead with him and his boys ,he allegedly rape us and ,we refused to expose our true identity to him because he has concluded plan to kill us .

Justice S.P Gang has however adjourned the case to the 8th of November, 2021 for continuation of hearing and taking of additional two witnesses .

The adjournment was for the C.O.P to close their case and the defendants will open defense .

This clearification is made by the press release dated 20th October,2021, signed by the chairman and secretary Jos Jarawa federal Ward james Atang and Abel Emmanuel respectively.

The jos Jarawa exco have suspended ishaya Ashom for criminal offence of impersonation.

We the EXCO’s at the ward level Suspend the said Ishaya Ashom whose action and other person are impersonating as EXCOs of Jos Jarawa ward and we therefore, suspend them in line with article 21, particularly (A)III and we have constituted a three man committee to investigate the said Ishaya Ashom and his accomplice on financial allegations infractions, and anti party.

Tension has started to mount on the All Progressive Congress ,APC, Plateau state chapter following alleged Kangaroo state Congress of the party held at the Crest hotel on Saturday 16th Oct,2021.

As Governor Simon Bako Lalong faction of APC, on Monday 18th Oct,2021 ,invaded the New APC Secretariat which was relocated from Angwan Rogo to Kalwa House along Bukuru Road in Jos,pull down flags, destroyed properties as the governor drafted fierce looking armed Security personnel to the New office of Hon Innocent Maimagani Zhattau

However, its was alleged that the desperate factional APC stormed the party Secretariat that has members across the 17 local government of the state by making mockery of democracy in Nigeria with security personnel overrunning the Secretariat of the party.

Zhattau said ,our headquarters was invaded by a group of Governor Security dissidents who stormed the Kalwa House Secretariat building in Jos South Local Government Council of Plateau State .

Speaking through telephone conversation on Monday morning Hon Innocent Zhattau told this medium that those security personnel were sighted pulling down our party flag at about 8am creating palpable tension to motorists plying the Jos -Bukuru road .

According to him,we hated impunity ,imposition of unpopular candidates on the people of Plateau state where those who didn’t buy forms where gathered to be pronounced as consensus candidates on Saturday .

Hon.Ishaya said he remain the authentic chairman of APC in Plateau state because I fulfilled the party’s guidelines from the national to the state level .

The guideline of the APC clearly stated that before you contest for the position of the party chairman and any other elected position of the party, you have to purchase nomination form.

I fulfilled the party guideline as spelt out on the Party’s constitution and obtained the nomination form ,for that reason , there was a committee from the national headquarters that came to Jos .

I went to the acting chairman’s office Enoch Fomark to purchase my nomination form after making bank payment,I was told that all the nomination form where at the Government House Little Rayfield .

As against this backdrop, I have follow the party chairman gradually till I was able to obtained the nomination form with all my members that are here now, you can see them here we all obtained the nomination form for different positions ranging from the women leader, treasurer,pro , secretary and other positions.

He further explained that the election for the Congress which is earlier slated for 10am on Saturday 16th Oct 2021 ,we where at the venue at crest hotel, and we where made to understand that they have prospone the Congress from 10am to 4pm without prior notice to the aspirants.

Before 4pm ,we where at the venue again waited for the Committee saddled with the responsibility for conducting the election till 10pm before they eventually came to the venue .

They couldn’t spend one hour and they reel out some names purported to be the New elected party excos ,In fact there is no election there.

We where the only candidate that purchased nomination form without anybody contesting with us,Maimagani brandishing his bank payment for his nomination form maintained.

He further added that the reason why they rejected the election is because ,as I said earlier,we where at the election venue by 10am the earlier official fixed time for the Congresses ,we were greeted by the information that the time have been shifted to 4pm without recourse to communicating the aspirants, we waited for the Committee , they were nowhere to be find.

When the Committee eventually came to the venue ,there was no casting of votes ,we are the only aspirants that purchased nomination form which automatically make us unopposed candidates,so we emerged as there was nobody contesting with us.

On the location of the party office,he said they where previously located at “Angwan Rogo in Jos North local government of the state.

During our meeting with the chairman of the party hon. Ishaya ltse, he suggested that we get a more spacious accommodation for the party office,secondly, considering the distance of Angwan Rogo office to the city center, also which informed relocating the party’s office to “Kalwa House” along Bukuru Road.

Presently ,all our members and the elected excos have their offices at Kalwa House and currently on ground.

On the expectation of the party members in the state,the chairman said he has directed the secretary of the party to officially write Governor Bako Lalong, members of the state legislatures , commissioners and chairmen of the 17 local government to avail themselves to the Party’s office at Kalwa House.

And strongly warned that any member or members of the party that disobey this directive will face sanction as spelt out in the party constitution.

“We have constitution guiding this party ,and will abide by it as the law abiding Citizens of the state and the party.”

The chairman further add that as the authentic chairman of the party, empowered by the constitution,any members of the party who refuse to align himself to authentic excos under the leadership of hon ltse shall be expel , suspended or set up dispensary Committee to investigate there disobedience with the view of disciplinary action.

Plateau State : APC State Congress, Two Parallel Office Emerge As Party Disagrees Over Consensus.

The Plateau State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress ,APC, has disintegrated into two factions ahead of Saturday scheduled Congress as aggrieved members of the party formed parallel offices with one at Aware wah complex in Miango Junction and in Angwan Rogo of Jos North LGA .

The APC which congress was slated on Saturday 16th Oct,2021 at the crest hotel at about 10am was however rescheduled back to 4pm for more consultation with stakeholders.

Our medium was at the crest hotel earlier around 9:45am to witness the arrival of party faithful and loyalist but the situation too palatable where the aggrieved members were sighted waiting patiently for the national working committee to be issue with their nomination forms .

Speaking to our reporter,one of the agrieved aspirant for the post Secretary ,Hon Nanman Maimagani Zhattau and that of the Treasurer and of his treasurer counterpart ,Hon Garba Pankwal ,that of the Publicity secretary ,Hon Dakom Williams Danjuma they all express dissatisfaction with the manner the conduct of kangaroo arrangement reached without them whom they purchase nomination forms ready to go into the contest .

According to them,by virtue of the APC guidelines for the conduct of convention ,the selling of nomination forms to all aspirants end on the 11th of October, 2021 but here in Plateau State the party failed to meet up the requirement demand .

They frowned at the conduct of primaries which breached by the party executive on arrival .

Nanman disclosed that the following galleries of personality that bought the party nominations form include ,Rt .Hon. Peter Ajang Azi ,Rt.Hon .Isa Chungwomson ,Rt.Hon. Joshua Madaki ,Hon .Sam Para ,Hon Rufus Bature ,Hon Aliyu Mohammed for chairmanship aspirants for Plateau State seat but where they alleged the party jettisoned the system for their selfish plot .

They alleged that without proper consultation with stakeholders of APC ,they are all unopposed as Secretary, Treasurer and PRO respectively, and they don’t know where the forms neither did they see where the forms are sold to intending aspirants.

He restated that any contrary view from the party guidelines shall be resisted vehemently so described the exercise as null and void that the conduct of kangaroo consensus candidates arranged by the party had woefully failed on arrival .

“We have been waiting here to see the committee to register our displeasure but very sad that nobody is here to attend to us “.

“We are the founders of APC so we won’t allow anyone to come and dislodge and hijack the system who the real founders ,what we are saying now is that no aspirants was invited or consulted before taken such decision “.

He explained further that about 9 local governments didn’t conduct their wards and LG congress so the entire exercise is a total complete destruction of the APC guidelines which we have forwarded our complained to the national working committee to weigh into the party conflict in Plateau state before it’s too late .

They expressed dismay that the party Extra Ordinary working committee chairman Mai- mala Buni could not follow the APC guidelines but worked closely with the governors who have already destroyed the party at the state level.

Gov.Condoles With Jukun Nation Over The Death Of Akun Uka.

Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong on Thursday 14th October 2021 led a delegation from Plateau State to Wukari in Taraba State to condole with the Jukun nation over the death of the Aku Uka, His Majesty, Dr. Shekarau Angyu Masa Ibi, Kuvyo II, CON, who recently joined his ancestors at the age of 84.

Lalong while condoling with the family, the traditional council and the entire Jukun nation, described the passage of the Aku Uka as painful. He however said there was great consolation by the fact that he lived a fruitful and long life where he impacted positively on the fortunes of his people and society at large.

He said the Royal Father who was the Chairman of the Taraba State Council of Traditional Rulers, demonstrated high sence of patriotism, peace and goodwill towards all manner of people irrespective of their backgrounds.

The Governor said he learnt a lot from the late monarch who was a father to him many others, and constantly reminded him of the need to be fair, just, humble and peaceful in all his activities. This he said has guided him in governance where he remains passionate about unity, forgiveness, dialogue and tolerance.

While praying God to grant the immediate family and the sons and daughters of Jukun nation the fortitude to bear the loss, he admonished them to keep alive the legacies of integrity, unity, loyalty and peaceful coexistence which the Royal Father preached and practised during his reign.

The General Officer Commanding 3 Division Nigerian Army/ Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN Maj Gen Ibrahim Ali charged officers to embrace digital technology to improve security in the country.

Maj Gen Ali gave the charge today 13 Oct 21while delivering his opening remarks at the sensitisation lecture organised on the use of Digital Emergency Alert and Tracking Application at Headquarters 3 Division Nigerian Army Jos. The GOC noted that the current security challenges calls for the use of technology to overcome them.

During his presentation, the Resource Person, Mr Atai Akpan who is a digital transformation expert noted that the application would be useful against crimes such as kidnapping, banditry and other crimes.

The presentation featured interactive session and practical session, where the use of the application was demonstrated to the officers.

APC Chairmanship Slot, Group Drum Support For Yakubu Datti .

Group under the auspacies of Concerned Progressives, members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), have urged the party to cede it’s chairmanship seat to the Southern zone of the State.

The group also said its heavy weight of support is thrown in favour of Hon. Yakubu Datti, to serve as Chairman of the party in the forthcoming Saturday congress.

This was contained in a resolution signed by the group’s Chairman, Eplong Naa’anlong Joseph and his Secretary, Kabir Yusuf Umar, issued to pressmen Tuesday in Jos.

They said the resolution was reached at an emergency meeting held on Monday in Jos, after the swearing in of LGCs chairmen, by his Excellency Governor Simon Lalong

They said as the APC, get sets for the State Congress it has become important for them to call on State Govenor Simon Lalong, been the leader and all critical stakeholders of the party to see reason in allocating positions of leadership in the party to the three senatorial zones.

“It is factual that the chairman of the party from inception was cided to the Central zone, the Secretary to the Northern zone, Governorship to the South zone, and deputy Governor to the Central zone.

“It is also practicable that the positions of SGS and House speaker are all cided to the Northern zone, exhibiting fairness, equity and justice to the zones of the state,” they said.

The group said now that the principles of gentleman arrangements is about to shift the sharing formula; “we deems it wise to urge that the Chairmanship position of the party should be cided to the Southern zone, while that of the Secretary should be left at the Northern zone.”

They said: “We urge that the Chairmanship position should either be zoned to Mikang or Qua’anpan LGAs, where party loyalist like Hon. Yakubu Datti, whose experience nows no bound should preferably be made the chairman.”

They said their position is predicated on the thought that the Governorship seat of the APC will be shifted to the Central zone.

High Court plateau state division has adjourned to 19th November,2021 for ruling on application for bail of the Nine(9) accused persons alledged to have kill Muslims clerics on board along Rukuba road in Jos North local government Plateau State.

The prosecuting Counsel barrister NP Tali told the court that the matter is slated today 13th October,2021 for the ruling on application and continuation for hearing on the matter.

The prosecuting Counsel further told justice Musa Ashom that the prosecution will not continue because one of the accused person who is a minor is not in court and cannot be prosecuted in absentia.

In quick response,the Counsel to the 1st-6th accused person who doubled as the chairman Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) Plateau state chapter, barrister Yakubu Bawa volunteered his car to facilitate the bringing of the accused Minor who is in the custody of the Young People’s Home facility to the court.

As against the background, the presiding judge, justice Musa Ashom ordered that the case been step down for an hour to enable the accuse to be brought to court.

On the court resumption from an hour step down ,the Counsel to 1st-6th accused persons,move the application for the accused persons bail and assured the court that his clients will always avail themselves throughout the trial and ruled out the fear that his clients may likely jump bail.

In quick reaction,the prosecuting counsel, NP Tali vehemently opposed the bail application moved by the defending counsel Yakubu Bawa on the ground that the offence is a capital one which if the accused persons are grant bail they are capable of posing risk to the society ,and setting bad presidence.

Justice Musa Ashom adjourned the matter to 19th Nov,2021 for ruling on the bail application and continuation of hearing.

His Lordship , justice Musa Ashom ordered the accused persons and the minor to be remand in the correctional center and Young People Home respectively.

Plateau State : APC Congress And Zoning ,I have confidence In Lalong, PD Gyang—- Comr Adik.

A staunch contender of the Chairmanship position in the forthcoming Plateau State Congress of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), Comrade Philip Asanato Adik has expressed confidence in Governor Simon Lalong who is the leader of the party in the State and Arch. Pam Dung Gyang, a respected elder and stalwart of the APC as well as the Chairman, Zoning Committee.

The vote of confidence is coming on the heels of a story making the rounds in the social media by a faceless group suggesting the rezoning of the Chairmanship position of the party to Southern Zone having been already zoned to Northern zone of the state which saw more than 8 people expressing interest and have engaged in vigorous campaign activities. The group was explicit on who it was working for in person of Yakubu Dati, the current Commissioner of Lands and Survey.

It is in the light of this that some journalists contacted Arch PD Gyang on the matter who described the said write up as thrash stressing that as far as the Governor is concerned, Northern zone would produce the next Chairman of the party.

Plateau state legal practitioner, Barr. Niri Darong has adviced the People Democratic Party (PDP) Plateau state chapter to go back to the drawing board and put their ass together to forestall the reoccurrence of what has befall the party for excluded by court Judgement for participating in the LG Polls.

As the party should know that party congress is not the same as general elections. You may fight the general elections to the end because you’re fighting a person who has no ideological point of agreement ,but you cannot fight a person you have an ideological point of agreement with to the end.

This takes us to whether members of a political party share the same ideology. They don’t because if they do share the same ideology, they won’t fight to the end.

The legal practitioner was speaking to this medium via WhatsApp conversation held in Jos ,plateau state after the largest opposition Party in the state ,by extension Nigeria failed to participation in the LG polls held 9th Oct,2021 which was finally put to rest by the Appeal Court judgment 8th Oct,2021 uphelding High Court judgment.

The commissioner for women affairs in Plateau state Hon.Rabacca Sambo has lauded the peaceful conduct of Plateau state local government polls held across the 17 Local Government of the state 9th Oct,2021.

The election which started as early as 8 am with the distribution of voting materials to all the polling unit across the council .

The commissioner for women affairs in the state Rebacca Sambo Stated this in an interview with our correspondence in Jos East LG of plateau state .

She said today history has been made for the peaceful conduct of the much awaiting Plateau state local government election in the realm of politics in the state.

According to Rebacca the exercise which stated as early as possible in Jos East with the distribution of sensitive voting materials and non sensitive material across the LG went on peaceful without no witness and reported cases of breakdown of law and order in any polling unit.

The women Affairs commissioner further stressed that the local government of Jos East is know with one particular party APC right from the beginning which informed the Peaceful conduct of the poll in the LG.

On the low turnout of voters during the election ,she said” You know that the people of the local government are farmers and we are in harvesting season that could be one of the reasons for low turnout of voters.

She further stressed that no election in an parts of the world can be perfect ,ours is to reduce some of these flaws associated with elections conduct which cannot entirely be eradicated. Plateau LG Polls : Shattered Hopes , Fracture State.

“Please what is happening?” “Are we not going to be allowed to vote in this local government election?” “Please this problem should be solved so that we can vote candidates of our choice!” “There is no need to vote since only one political party will be contesting.” “This is not an election since it has already been rigged in favour of one political party.”

These were the anguished frustrations of Plateau State citizens in the anxious days preceding these local government elections organized by the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC), funded by the Plateau State Government.

They were afraid that the judgement barring the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from contesting the October 9 polls would deny them their constitutional right to participate in this cherished democratic process.

But their wildest nightmares have turned into a crushing reality. PLASIEC is conducting the elections without the participation of the main opposition PDP. The overwhelming hopes of the people, some of whom had enjoyed the luxury of electing their chairmen and councilors since 2015, have been mercilessly shattered.

Again, Plateau State is setting another odious record in political ignominy for the world to see. Those politicians and other Nigerians who gain from this travesty because their consciences died long ago would tell you that this had also happened at other times.

Perhaps. But not in this fashion where a whole generation and millions of eligible voters are so flagrantly disenfranchised and their other rights squashed in one fell swoop. Even in war, certain moral principles are upheld to demonstrate that man still clings to some pieces of decency.

This is supposed to be more so on the political turf where politics should be seen as a passionate pursuit that seeks to enhance and uphold the general good and welfare of all citizens – without the undue influence of deleterious factors.

And even if something of this nature had happened before, does it make this mass disenfranchisement permissible? Even justifiable? Defending these actions with the past infractions of others only compounds the problem; makes it knottier and deeply entrenched.

Unfortunately, this has become the norm in the current dispensation where the Buhari government takes morbid pleasure in comparing the number of victims of insurgency under its watch with what prevailed in the past in a desperate attempt to shore up its abysmal record in that and other departments of governance. No wonder, violent crimes and lawlessness have become the order of the day all over the country.

THE JUDICIARY/ A GOVERNOR IN LIMBO

Yes, the courts could be at the centre of the adjudication that led to this state of affairs in Plateau State. To be sure, we hold our legal system in high esteem because we believe that it is the last resort and hope of the common man. And it is the pillar upon which our democracy rests.

Yes, the judiciary,

universally symbolized by that iconic blindfolded lady wielding the sword of justice, is no respecter of persons and strictly abides by the cold letter of the law. But sometimes, the outcomes of its judgements arrived at through sound, diligent, dispassionate and critical examination of facts can be manipulated by self-serving individuals and interests to the detriment of the people and society it seeks to serve and protect.

Could this be the case in Plateau State today where a local government election is being held with the majority of the citizens willfully disenfranchised? As we contemplate this, we should chew over this statement by the retired legal luminary, Justice Daniel Longji: “I can confidently say that the judiciary is just an appendage. People want the judiciary to be impartial but it cannot be impartial because it is an appendage of government. I say this very openly and I have no regret saying it…. And if you dare give judgement against the government…. I said I have no regrets, but if wishes were horses….” (TODAY’S CHALLENGE, February, 2020).

That said, even the most brutal law is sometimes tampered with mercy. There is also what is known as the spirit of the law. But the case that ultimately led to stopping the PDP from contesting the election was essentially sensitive.

It was sensitive because it had resounding political ramifications. And because of the volatile nature of Nigeria’s politics, it had to be handled with utmost caution.

But the Plateau State acting chairman of the APC, a beneficiary of that court judgement, gloated: “The PDP shot itself on the foot.” Sadly, and unknown to him, it is the soul of Plateau State that was shot with a poisoned arrow. And the wound may take a long time to heal. He proceeded to paint the glorious scenario of his Party recording a landslide victory! In his reckoning, the courts had finally paved the way for the APC to dominate the political space.

Governor Simon Lalong later expressed the same sentiments when he addressed APC members at a rally in Shendam to flag-off campaigns for the local government polls. He proclaimed: “I am very optimistic that we will sweep the elections because we don’t have opposition in Plateau State.” For them, therefore, the fact that the main opposition party was not participating in the vote did not take away the inherent joy that comes with winning an election keenly contested with worthy rivals on a level playing ground.

It is this warped sense of accomplishment and braggadocio that is fueling the feeling among citizens that some undue pressure may have been mounted on the judiciary. Also, this may go a long way to confirm the position of critics who had hitherto maintained that the Lalong administration has always been afraid of conducting free and fair local council elections for fear of woefully losing.

This is because, first, his performance in critical areas such as infrastructural and economic development and maintaining peace have been extremely dismal. Second, his image as an appendage of the core North, as demonstrated by his actions as the so-called Chairman of the Northern Governors’ Forum and self-serving political maneuvering, has further pushed his estimation to near zero in the eyes of citizens who see themselves as unapologetically belonging to Nigeria’s Middle Belt region.

Third, the internal crises in his APC have so torn it apart that the person who has always controlled its key structures had to part ways with the governor and was well prepared to go against the APC had the local government polls not been restricted. Therefore, edging the PDP out of the fray has proved to be a massive saving grace for Governor Lalong as it offered him a soft-landing.

JOS NORTH DISCONTENT/ CORE NORTH AGENDA

It must be pointed out that this disenfranchisement of Plateau citizens would rankle most in the minds of the people of Jos North, Jos South, Riyom and Barakin Ladi local government areas. While other parts of the state had the benefit of voting for their council chairmen and councilors in 2018, elections were shelved in these four LGAs due to security concerns. Ever since, they have been ruled by APC loyalists appointed by Governor Lalong.

Just as they were optimistically looking forward to massively participating in the current electoral process, their hopes have once more been dashed. But prior to this, political analysts had argued that the Lalong administration had cited insecurity for not conducting elections in those areas chiefly as a ruse.

They point out that the state government had always known that it would not win elections in those LGAs because they remain solid strongholds of the opposition PDP. They therefore contend that the current trend may just as well be a continuation of that policy of denying them their franchise in order for the state government to avoid a crushing defeat.

There are still others who believe that Governor Lalong exhibited an acute lack of political acumen when he approved elections in these four LGAs (and Bassa) even when their security situations were still very teneous, to say the least. They especially point to Bassa and Jos North which were rocked by eruptions of bloody violence in August which necessitated the imposition of a twenty-four-hour curfew, which has now been relaxed to between 10pm and 6AM.

As things stand today, four of these LGAs are effectively under curfew. Yet Governor Lalong wants council elections to hold therein mainly because the coast is clear for his APC to have a field day.

However, the governor is facing stiff opposition in Jos North LGA from within his own APC. He is accused of hand-picking and imposing a non-indigene, Alhaji Shehu Bala Usman, as the Party’s flagbearer over and above other members belonging to the three indigenous ethnic groups of the area who had also bought forms for the chairmanship position. Apparently, APC loyalists here are also smarting from the excesses of Governor Lolong just as their opponents in the PDP and other citizens of the state.

The Jos North APC is now demanding for the conduct of a free and fair primary election to elect a chairmanship flagbearer in accordance with its constitution. In the alternative, they joined other individuals and groups in calling for the cancellation of the polls on the grounds of the state of insecurity in Jos North alluded to above.

But, against all odds, the governor is bent on installing Alhaji Usman as executive chairman. Critics claim that he cannot backtrack now because he must fulfill a pact he entered with the Hausa/Fulani settler community to hand over the council leadership to them for ‘favours’ rendered him. There have also been unconfirmed reports that the long-term plan of the Hausa/Fulani settler community is to carve out an emirate in Jos North to serve as a launching pad for the Islamization of other parts of the state.

This is seen as part of the core North’s overall agenda, presently vigorously pursued by the Buhari government, to make other parts of the country subservient to the Caliphate. The Federal Government’s open support for killer Fulani herdsmen’s litigations against Southern Governors’ enactment of anti-open grazing laws is a clear matter in point.

CONCLUSION

It is very obvious from all of the above that the proposed October 9, 2021, Plateau State local government elections have served to shatter the hopes of Plateau citizens, even beyond political party lines. The elections have also exposed Governor Lalong’s penchant for subordinating the common good of citizens to his own personal will and ego, no matter the consequences to both his own APC and the opposition PDP. But, above all, the elections will further deeply polarize the good people of the state in a most unprecedented manner.

But it is heartwarming that the PDP approached the Court of Appeal with its grievances. This is a positive sign that a segment of the political class still believes in the ability of our temples of justice to uphold the rule of law and protect the integrity of our democracy. Despite the outcome, democracy still looks forward to better days ahead.

Even in this thick atmosphere of despondency, growing out of a collective feeling of shattered hopes, and mutual suspicion, brought about by our fractured unity, there is a glimmer of hope that out of all these may yet emerge a stronger democratic Plateau State – and Nigeria.

Garba Pwul (SAN) Says PDP Is Like Bird That Calls For Rain And Beaten By Rain, Speaks On His 2023 Governorship Ambition, Insecurity And Nigeria @61.

The Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN)chief Garba Pwul had said the People Democratic Party (PDP)in Plateau state is like a proverbial bird that called for rain ,and was the first to be beaten by the some rain .

As the legal luminary pointed out that any house that divide against itself can never stand which the people democratic party has demonstrated in the just court judgement in favor of the plateau state electorial umpire , PLASIEC.

Garuba Pwul who is the counsel to the state electorial body PLASIEC against the opposition Party the PDP stated this in an interview with news men in Jos as part of his 61st happy independent

anniversary to the people of plateau state and Nigeria as a whole.

He said its can’t be disputed that the PDP is one of the largest party in this country that ruled Nigeria including Plateau State for 16 years uninterrupted,so its not that you can despised that.

However , like other parties, it’s governored by it constitution, and the constitution of federal republic of Nigeria.

Pwul further explain that at the end of party’s executive tenure,there was an attempt to conduct election to put the new executives starting from wards ,local government,the state and National level.

But in Plateau state ,at the end of the exercise at the ward , local and state level, one of the party member who didn’t agree with the election went to court led by Hon. Bitrus Kaze challenging the election which has Chris Hassan as chairman.

The Court agreed with the complaint Hon.Bitrus Kaze and nullify the election by justice PS Gang and ordered that the party should go and conduct proper election in accordance with the party’s constitution.

The Senior Advocate of Nigeria , Chief Garuba Pwul added that the case was purely between PDP and PDP, APC was not involved the same PLASIEC,it was only of PDP .

Rather than complying with court order,in their own wisdom disolved the Excos nullify by the court ,in it place set up caretaker Committee which is not the same thing as elected Excos.

Then come the opportunity to elect counsellors and chairmen of the 17 local government of the state,they requested the state electorial body PLASIEC to come and monitor their primaries the request declined on the ground that you sent us letter that the court has nullified the existing Excos and directed you to conduct fresh Party election.

Instead of the party complying, they went ahead to sue the state electorial body PLASIEC .

“The High Court said nothing short of you complying to the constitution that makes you worth of Political party ,you will not be allowed to participate in any Political activities in the election.”

Pwul further add that APC is not involved ,it’s PDP alone that went to court got what it bargain for as the court judgement go against them.

“This corroborate the words of our Lord Jesus Christ that ,”house that divided against itself never stand and the bird that call for the rain is the first to be beaten by rain”.

“They choose to take their matter to court instead of settling it amicably as a family, PLASIEC is independent and innocent”.

As against this development Pwul said APC is comfortably waiting to contest election with parties that comply with rules of the constitution to contest election come 9th Oct,2021.

It’s with these, the electoral umpire PLASIEC said unless you meet parliamentary qualify rules, you can not participate on the LG election or any subsequent elections so the blame should be laid on the shoulder of the PDP them self.

He said he is glad that in the course of carry out that professional exercises,I have the benefit of an erudit SAN and experience man Edward Pwajok the longest serving Anthony General of Plateau state who held sway in the position for more than eight years ,and member of the house of representatives for four years, therefore he is not light weight lawyer that took the matter to court.

He is well informed lawyer who know his onus so PDP can not complain of poor lagal representation.

Although their is an attempt for PDP to appeal the matter, till then, and the appeal

court over turn the case in the favor of PDP the remains excluded the to challenge the judgement.

The judgement remain valid and subsecting until the day the court of appeal set it aside

As it’s now that PDP can’t contest the local government polls bill to take place 9th Oct, 21 which is matter of days from now the citizens of the state will cast their votes in peace .

The reasons as I have said ,I watched Nigeria in the early stage of independent.

I went to primary , secondary and university in those good old days .

I also practice the law at the time Nigeria where celebrating good of the moment .I watched when we where about the richest nation in the world,the largest depositor in IMF which eventually developed to world bank.

At the time of oil boom when we said to the whole world that money is not our problem,but how to spend it is the problem.

The peace we hitherto enjoyed between the Christian and Muslims has eluded us .

We went to university on scholarship , today the children of the poor hardly go to school as the government is not there to assist.

Kidnapping as a fiction ,you see any Nigeria as your brother, this virtues has eventually collapsed ,I don’t think that anybody can bring back these good old days.

After our prayers, God, being a wise God decided to reward us according to our labour.

Since those that went into industrialization, technology, infrastructural development, ICT, education etc had been rewarded accordingly. It’s only wise God rewards us with our efforts in prayers.

That’s why today, Nigerian pastors are competing in building the biggest churches. That’s why there are more prayer houses and worship places than hospitals and schools. That’s why people rush to prayer houses for medical and business solutions instead of hospitals.

That’s why we don’t do business proposals before jumping into business since we are going to back it up with prayers. And when such collapse, we blame devil.

That’s why it’s a sin to say anything negative about pastors and imams.

That’s why our pastors don’t consider the opinion of engineers while building and blame devil when the building collapsed.

That’s why faith in God replaces building pillars and when it collapsed we blame it on Lucifer.

That’s why our pastors are making sure they plant church branches instead of schools in every street in Nigeria.

That’s why we always wait for God to do that which ability to accomplish He has already handed over to us.

That’s why we want our teachers to labour on earth and come to heaven for their rewards.

Nigeria is a prayer loving, God fearing nation. Religion has taken the place of technology, infrastructure, education and all.

When we are traveling, we ignore all the necessary road requirements, servicing of our vehicles and pray. And, once we pray, we can put a half fit vehicle on the road and blame our step mother or mother in law if anything goes wrong.

That’s why there are more people dying on our roads than wild life animals in the wilderness.

Because, we pray and fast and leave everything to God when God has given us all we need to survive and build a nation…….

Plateau APC Chairmanship Aspirant Comrade Phillip Adik, Promise Desired Leadership.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairmanship aspirant Plateau State chapter in the coming State Congress, Comrade Philip Asanato Adik, aka Adalci , has promised to work hard to reenergize the party towards promoting unity within its fold and lead it to victory in subsequent elections at all levels if elected into office as chairman come 16th October 2021.

According to Comrade Adik,“My primary mission will be to re-energise the party towards positioning it in strategic manner for the 2023 general elections”.

As (AYM) Said the press statement read by one Mr Agwon Atang on behalf of the group is embarrassing and attempt to smear the image of izere nation as a whole.

This is contained in a press statement signed by joseph Arin the chairman of the movement and made available to this medium in Jos , Plateau state reads in part.

We the Afizere Youth Movement,in Jos North LGA, want to debunk in clear terms and without any doubt and equivocation that the said Press Conference, that was read by one Agwom Atang,onbehalf of the group is very embarrassing and a meticulous as well as calculated attempt to enmeshed,smear and drag the good image of the Izere nation into a political catastrophe that is awaiting to befall the Natives of Jos North LGA.

We as a nation,will neither reneged nor negate on the recommendations of Justice Niki Tobi’s Commission of inquiry that states unambiguously clear that,Jos North belong to the three Ethnic groups of Afizere,Anaguta and Berom,since then,there has been a gentleman agreement among these Ethnic groups to rotate the Chairmanship position.

For the avoidance of doubt,the said Shehu Bala they are clamouring to imposed on the Peaceful and law abiding citizens of Jos North LGA was appointed as the management committee Secretary of Jos North LGA in 2016 under the management committee Chairman of Hon. Theresa Daniel Azi.

He was also elected as the Flag bearer of APC in Jos North LGA,in 2018. By the year 2020, Governor Simon Bako Lolang appointed him the management committee Chairman of Jos North LGC and the appointment was Characterised by massive protests in the nooks and crannies of the Locality. In order to stem the tide of the scenario,the state Government, through the secretary to the state Government,Prof. Danladi Abok Atu, along side Commissioners for Information and Communications,Hon. Dan Manjang,Hon. Pam Botmang,Works,Hon. Musa Gyang,Science and Technology.Hon. Jerry Werr, Special Duties,NGOs and intergovernmental Affairs.Hon. Aku Abe,Commerce and Industries, called for a meeting of the leadership of Youths from the three natives Ethnic groups in Government House and appealed to our concients and that the management committee Chairman,Shehu Bala will spent only three months and after then, an Indigene will be appointed, moreover he will not contest for the Chairmanship position at the subsequent Election. He spent two years in office before his recent resignation.

They Equally claimed that Shehu Bala and Ezekiel Shina’s candidature will promote peaceful co-existence,that is a lie from the pit of hell,we want to tell the Governor and the good people of Plateau state that, citizens of the Locality are in serious delima for not conducting free,fair, Transparent and democratic Primary Election in Jos North LGA for the All Progressives Congress(APC) in Jos North.

When the APC’s Primary Election was fixed in the entire 17 LGAs,all the card carrying members of the Party in Jos North were prepared and converged at their various voting points to exercise the franchise,then they were informed that the election was postponed in Jos North,due to some security and other technical hitches while other LGAs continued with the process .

The people were waiting for the new date to be fixed,but that same day in the night,news came out initially as a rumour and nightmare that Shehu Bala has been emerged as the Flag bearer of APC in Jos North without any explanation on where,when how and who elected him. These are the vital questions that are still begging for answers and there was agreement that he will not contest then probably that’s why he came in a surreptitious manner.

Nigeria Churches Needs Total Revival With Charge In Medical Services And Education

A group of Nigerian Evangelist have charged churches to walk up ,there is new revival in the church.

“The church have to wake up and pray for forgiveness ,we have failed ,the missionaries that came , when they came to my town in Ile life ,they set up Seventh Days Adventist Church” medical centre free medical services to treat the sick people free of charge “.

The church set up schools and hospital for their members and the community free of charge.

But today,the case is different as the schools own by churches are the most expensive one.

Nigeria @61: Lawyer Gives Plateau State Judiciary Pat On The Back Despite Poor working Conditions

Legal practitioner based in Jos barrister Niri Daron Esq has described as horrible the conditions under which Plateau State Judicial officers operate.

In an exclusive chat with journalist African Drum on the occasion of Nigeria’s 61st independence anniversary, Daron posited that judges and other judicial Staff in the State worked in the most terrible conditions.

According to him, judges in the State work without Legal assistants and conduct all researches by themselves. He also noted with dismay that judges in the State don’t have stenographers and as a result, do all their writings longhand which he said is outdated. He further decried the delipatated nature of judicial infrastructure in the State.

“Recently, I saw pictures in the social media of Upper Area Court Kabong. The court is in a sorry state. The Area Court in Barkin Ladi and the Magistrate Court in Riyom all are in terrible states. Thank God for the Taroh Lawyers who renovated the Upper Area Court Langtang North. Where it not so, it was also in a terrible condition. The High Court in Pankshin and Barkin Ladi are nothing to write home about.

The judge in Barkin Ladi High Court is using an alternative court. When you go to other states and see their structures, you would appreciate a court room unlike Plateau State where all the structures are still those inherited from the colonial masters and they include; the High Court, the Sharia Court and the Customary Court of Appeal respectively.

The current construction that is ongoing at the premises of the state High Court is at a very slow speed, so, something has to be done in good time” Daron said.

The legal practitioner however, noted with pride and satisfaction that despite all the upheavals, the Plateau State Judiciary has over the years withered the storm and earned itself the desired respect through effective justice delivery.

Consequently, he rated it as one of the best not only in Northern Nigeria but the whole country. “Let me tell you that despite all these challenges, the Judiciary in Plateau State is not just one of the best in Northern Nigeria but the whole country. Anywhere a lawyer from this jurisdiction go for any matter, he is likely to asks by the judge if he’s from Plateau and when the answer is in the affirmative, the judge would say; yes, it’s only a Plateau lawyer that can do this”, he said.

Daron also said that the reason for achieving this feat is simply because Plateau State is having one of the best set of judicial officers a state can ever have. He further attributed the success to the excellent relationship between the Bar and the Bench. “Quote me anywhere, no litigant has ever bought judgement in this jurisdiction. The facts of your case gives you judgement. Judges in this jurisdiction don’t look at faces of any litigant or party in a matter because they have the fear of God in them. And when you realized that judges have the fear of God in them and would not favour anybody, it makes the lawyer to brace up and do the needful. Because when it’s obvious that money can’t buy you judgement, when you realized that influence cannot get you judgement, you would be left with no option than to read your books and check your processes very well. So, whatever success that we have recorded is as a result of the great judges that we have in this jurisdiction. Let me also inform you that we equally hold Bar and Bench Forum once in a while where we discuss our problems. Any judge or lawyer that has an issue brings it to the forum where it is discussed and we look for a way forward. So, I believe the Bar and the Bench Forum has really helped in ensuring the success of the Judiciary in this jurisdiction”.

Barr. Daron specifically applauded judges’ relationship with young Lawyers which he described as that of a father and son and a development he also noted to have served as a source of encouragement to lawyers and equally enhanced their performances. “You would never see a judge in this jurisdiction harassing lawyers especially young lawyers. Judges in this jurisdiction behave and act like parents to young lawyers and it is commendable”, he said.

One other thing the lawyer said has helped tremendously in solidifying the relationship among lawyers most especially in Jos Division is the Despute Resolution Committee of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) Jos Branch where issues that colleques could not resolved by themselves are taken to stressing that the Committee has achieved great success as no issue has gone beyond it.

He decried the way our youth these days run after money and want to get it by crook or hook without recourse to the implications,and added that most of our children who suppose to be in school to study , take to drinking there by cut short their future.

And stressed that since the association came on board barely less than 3 years ago they have achieved alot in fixing some of the dilapidated structures in the school, provision of other amenities like electricity , motorized bolehole and others amenities that were lacking before the association come on board.

A Plateau State High Court granted Orders of Interlocutory Injunctions, restraining the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) from giving effect to the alleged unconstitutional primary election of the APC in Pankshin Local Government Area.

The Plateau State High Court, Pankshin Division, presided over by, Hon. Justice, B. S. Ngyou, upon hearing a Motion on Notice brought by Abafaras Gabriel Ngolong and Rotshak.

Yokden(Plaintiffs/Applicants) pursuant to Orders 42 and 43 of the High Court of Plateau State (Civil Procedure) rules 2020, granted an Order of Interlocutory Injunction, restraining the APC, being the 1st Defendant, in a suit No. PLD/P27CV/M2/2021, whether by itself, its agents, privies of assigns or any other person acting through it, or however, from recognizing or further recognizing, Hon. Audu Kak’mena (2nd Defendant), as the nominated candidate from the primary election purportedly held on the 24th of June, 2021, and/or presenting or submitting his name to PLASIEC (3rd Defendant), as the nominated candidate of the APC for the Chairmanship position of Pankshin LGA of Plateau State in the forthcoming Plateau State Local Government Councils elections, pending the determination of the Plaintiffs/Applicants substantive suit.

The Court also granted an Order of Interlocutory Injunction, restraining PLASIEC (3rd Defendant) from giving effect to the purported primary election of the APC of Pankshin LGA, pending the determination of the Plaintiffs/Applicants’ Substantive suit.

From the face of the Orders of the Court, the 2nd Defendant, Hon. Audu Kak’mena has been also restrained from parading himself or acting or presenting himself as the candidate of the APC for the Chairmanship position of Pankshin LGA in any manner whatsoever, pending the determination of the suit.

“And after hearing, M. A. Abdullahi (Esq) with J. E. Okpe for the Plaintiffs/Applicants, it is hereby ordered that: parties in the suit are directed to maintain the Status Quo Ante, pending the final determination of the substantive suit”. The Court Order further stated.

The matter has been adjourned to the 16th of November for hearing.

Plateau State Set To Step Up Revenue Generation Through Effective And Efficient Land Administration.

The Plateau state government has said the stakeholders engagement on effective and land use organized by the Plateau state ministry of lands survey and town planning is to step up the state revenue generation through effective use of land.

As the commencement of series of activities all geared towards increased revenue generation by the Plateau State Ministry of Lands, Survey & Town Planning being set in motion with this stake holders’ engagement to be followed by other activities in this regard all in an effort to bring the state back to the stage of good fortunes through Efficient Land Administration.

The commissioner of lands Survey and Town planning Plateau state Hon.Yakubu Dati stated this during his welcome address in a stakeholders forum on engagement of efficient and effective land use held at the Elias Center Gold and Base in Jos, plateau state.

The stakeholders forum which has its theme as ” Stakeholders Engagement On Efficient and Effective Land Use For Revenue Generation”,the commissioner said its beyond argument that the world over land based revenue is the new black gold of the 21st century even more so with the dwindling income generated from crude oil occasioned by alternative means of energy such as solar and biofuel which is eroding the dependence hitherto placed on crude oil.

He further said in Plateau State, land based revenue has remained hugely untapped and the returns from the sector in dire need of a turn around.

It is for this and other reasons that the Management of the Ministry deemed it necessary to organize this stake holders’ engagement in order to bring both professionals, Technocrats, development partners and clients of the ministry under one roof to brain storm on the way forward and to chart a way forward for the growth and development of the state through increased revenue generation.

Dati stressed that the Ministry has identified five (5) priority areas it intends to leverage on in its bid to improve revenue in the days ahead.

These priority areas are to the commissioner of land Yakuba Dati are enumeration of properties in the state ,mandatory recertification of all certificates of occupancy,standardization of conversion of titles from customary to statutory,massive issuance of demand notice for payment of ground rent,and commencement of recertification within the Miango and Rantya layout.

He said the process of obtaining titles is being simplified as well as the medium of payment of fees by the ongoing integration between the Ministry and the Plateau State Internal Revenue Service to reduce public apathy in the payments of land based fees in the state.

On the whole commissioner said the Ministry is not leaving any stone unturned in its bid to becoming the major revenue earner of the state and a critical stake holder in the realization of His Excellency Simon Bako Lalong’s vision for the state which is being threatened due to paucity of funds.

The land Commissioner therefore urged the stakeholders in the land administration in plateau state not to hold back in your opinions and suggestions which could make the difference between success and failure and because we have no intention of failing, as partners of progress, I urge you to use your wealth of experience to guide us on the path of increase in the area of revenue generation in the state.

Plateau State Government Has Warns Against Any Form Of Propose Protests.

The Plateau state government has warned against any form of protest in Plateau state and it’s environ.

As he said that those planning any protest of any form on the 1st Oct,2021 should have it in mind that law banning illegal assembly in the state is till enforce and any arrest violating the law shall be made to face the wrath of the law.

Governor Lalong warning is contained in a press statement dated 29th Oct,2021 , signed by the commissioner of information and Commission honourable Dan Manjang and made available to this medium in Jos, plateau state.

The statement further read that it has come to the notice of the Plateau State Government that there are rumours of a planned protest tomorrow Friday, 1st October, 2021.

While Government acknowledges and respects the right of citizens to peaceful protest, it however reminds the general public that the ban on public procession by whatever guise and name is still in force.

Government therefore warns the organisers of the purported protest to drop the idea in the interest of peace and security.

Security agents have been placed on red alert to rise up to the challenge by arresting anyone who violates this directive.

The Government also enjoins all law abiding citizens to go about their normal duties without any fear of molestation or intimidation.

Parents are also advised to rein in their wards and continue to support the Government in working for the restoration of total normalcy to the State.

Court Grants Prosecution Counsel Additional Proofs Of Criminal Case Against Shehu Jatau And 3 Others.

Justice S.P .Gang of High Court No ,6 has granted the prosecution counsel additional proof of evidence in a criminal case of Commissioner of Police against Shehu Jatau and 3 others standing trial of armed robbery ,murder and culpable homicide .

The Prosecutor E.A Enaebole told the court that the matter slated for continuation of hearing and taken of motion he earlier filed .

He said, “my Lord ,we have additional proof of evidence and witnesses which the same motion have been served on the defense counsel and we are ready to proceed “.

However ,the defense counsel didn’t opposed to the motion looking at the nature of the motion .

The prosecutor says ,the motion dated the 22nd March, 2021 and filed on the same date , as the motion is not being opposed we pray the court to grant same motion .

He explained that he is ready to proceed with additional three witness whom are already in court but the defendants counsel ,Prof. S.S Shikyil,SAN, complained of his ill health and was ready to proceed for overseas treatment .

The Prof. Shikyil told the court that he has concluded arrangement to handover the matter to Barr. F.P Fwanwal but he lost some one and went for burial .

Justice S.P. Gang granted the prosecution counsel additional proof of evidence , witnesses and adjourned to 19th Oct, 2021 for continuation of hearing .

The counsel to the defendants told the court that his client Shehu Jatau is suffering from ill health challenges since he was kept in correctional centre three years ago .

The bail application is still pending before my Lord ,so he pleaded with the court to grant him bail conditions .

Plateau State : PDP Expresses Disappointment Over Court Upheld Party’s Exclusion From LG Polls.

Sequel to High Court judgment Plateau division 29th Sept,2021 which upheld the People Democratic Party (PDP)by the state electorial umpire (PLASIEC) from LG polls slated 9th Sept,2021,the party has expressed her disappointment,which he described as slap on the bare face of democracy.

It said the exclusion of PDP by PLASIEC who has suddenly become partian is an attempt to deny the people of Plateau state at the grassroot to choose alternative government following the abysmal failure of APC in the state and by extension Nigeria.

The party disappointment is contained in a press statement dated 29th Sept,2021 signed by the party state publicity secretary John Akans and made available to this medium read,

It was disappointing as we watched justice kunda delivered most ridiculous judgment in the history of the Nigerian judiciary.

It is obvious that this judgment has unveiled the government’s true self as enemy of the people. It is indeed shameful that a judge could go down to such despicable levels to show his contempt for the people of Plateau State by shocking attempt to demonize the cries of the people against injustice while seeking for justice.

In his judgment, the judge claimed that our case was based on the interpretation of a judgment of a court of coordinate jurisdiction and thus robbed him of jurisdiction to review or try.

Notwithstanding he went ahead to wholesomely interpret and review, and also claimed that he could enforce the judgment by making far reaching orders which none of the parties asked for, one of which is the order of justice Gang in kaze’s case and the parties were not even invited by kunda to address him on those issues.

This judgment can only be celebrated by those whose consciences are dead to the plight of the people and marooned in government house at the feet of the oppressors of their people in quest to please ‘oga at the top’ for thier personal gain.

We therefore call on our members across the state to remain calm as arrangement has been made for an appeal to be filed immediately, which our legal team has commenced the process.

The PDP will never allow anti democratic forces in an open confrontation with norms and values of democracy, and at this time the people will not be the victims of those forces.

We will not allow this merchants of retrogression succeed, as they only think of themselves and not the people.

Justice kunda has clearly descended into the arena of the absurd and inflicted us with grave travesty of justice.

The people have rejected the APC and its agents and so it stands, so no amount of intimidation can change the peoples stand.

Election remains the only democratically available means of transition and changing an under performing administration such as what we have on the plateau under Lalong.

Plateau State : Two Kill One In Critical Condition As Gun men Attack Motorcycle Riders In Bassa LG.

Two people were reported to have been killed yesterday 28th Sept,2021,by gunmen and one in critical condition currently receiving medical attention in one of the undisclosed facilities in the state capital by yet to be identify gunmen in Bassa LG of Plateau state.

According to the report from the report from the information unit of Operation Save Haven (OPSH) Major Ishaku Takwa made available to this medium via the platform,said the gunmen ambushed the victims who where on motorcycle and shot them at close range.

The incident was said to have happened along Twin Hill Road Jebbu Miango Irigwe chiefdo In Bassa local government of Plateau state.

“Three Irigwe people in a motorcycle was said to have been ambushed Tuesday September 28,2021 along Twin Hill Road, Jebbu Miango,Miango District of Rigwe Chiefdom, Bassa LGA of Plateau State.”

“Two out of 3 persons were reported to have been killed instantly while one sustained various degree of wounds occasioned by gunshot injury and have been taken to hospital for treatment.”

“The motorcycle has also been burnt down as the security is currently on the trail of the gunmen”

All Eyes On Justice lshaku Kunda To Save Democracy On The Plateau.

The heightened anxiety on the Plateau today can better be imagined than described as political players await tomorrow’s judgement by the highly respected and revered jurist, Justice Ishaku Kunda on whether a level playing field could be guaranteed in the conduct of next month’s local government elections in the state.

What ordinarily should not be a political matter has suddenly become one as some politicians tried surreptitiously to outsmart the process to gain disastrous advantage over others.

The Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission, PLASIEC is self-bereaved by mourning the demise of an unknown stranger even when the alleged deceased family has not confirmed that it was bereaved.

The matter before His Lordship is the order to restrain PLASIEC from excluding the opposition Peoples Democratic Party and its candidates from contesting the 2021 local government chairmanship and councillorship positions in the state.

While the political parties are warming up to express themselves in this open constitutional contest, PLASIEC, a public institution bestowed with public confidence to conduct free and fair elections in the state, suddenly started singing partisan choruses and singing Apc songs on the public pulpit.

How else can one explain a situation where the state electoral body is not a party in a matter but is crying more than the bereaved?

As a Plateau democratic Community, all eyes are on Justice Kunda to do justice to all parties and the community and establish whether a single team can participate in a tournament that is inherently competitive based and where various talents are expected to be showcased, and still call it a tournament.

Tomorrow’s judgement is not just a political one, but also of a moral and spiritual inclination that will remain in the psyche of Plateau people and Nigeria as a whole for life.

It will be a judgement that can make or mar democracy and create other positive or negative dimensions of it.

We pray for God’s strict guidance for His Lordship as he prayerfully take decisions that will shape Plateau and add value to its much cherished democracy.

Plateau people have become highly sensitive to democracy and anything that can add to this will move the state forward.

Of what use is democracy to the people if some players will be deliberately disenfranchised?

Why would the Apc be interested in playing a political tournament alone? For what pleasure?

What legacy do they seek to enshrine and leave behind?

Why the fear?

All these and more, I believe, will be judiciously rested tomorrow by our father, the Man of God, the adjudicator of the people and the experienced judicial leader.

The New opposition party chairman in the state promised to visit all the local government in the state with the view of identifying any aggrieved member of the party for one reason or the other and reconcile them.

Northern Govs.Forum Resolutions With Emir’s And Chiefs Held 27th Sept.

The Northern States Governors’ Forum, in its continuous efforts to address the challenges bedeviling the Northern States convened an Emergency Meeting today Monday 27th September, 2021 at the Council Chamber Sir, Kashim Ibrahim House, Kaduna. The meeting was also attended by Chairmen of Northern States Traditional Council led by His Eminence the Sultan of Sokoto.

The Forum discussed issues of Peace, Progress, Development and well-being of the Northern States. The Forum took stock of progress made in handling challenges of Banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery and insurgency.

After extensive deliberations, the following resolutions were arrived at:-

The Forum reviewed security updates from the Region and observed the need for a sustained synergy and coordinated efforts between the Federal and Northern States Governments while noting success of recent measures. The meeting also noted with concern the constraint of the security services and urged the Armed Forces to embark on simultaneous operations and resolved to share the plans of the Frontline States come up with common with other Region; and assured of its readiness to work in synergy with the Federal Government of Nigeria in finding lasting solution to the current security challenges.

The Forum appreciated the ongoing onslaught against banditry, kidnapping and Boko Haram especially in the North East and parts of North West and North Central States and encouraged the Armed forces and other security agencies to sustain the tempo to enable the security challenges be permanently addressed in the shortest time.

The Forum received updates on the Renewable / Solar Energy Project and NOTED that request for land for the project had been submitted and are being processed by the Northern States. The Committee had commenced negotiations in a public private arrangement and sovereign guarantees to ensure bankability of the project by multilateral financial organizations. The Forum called on States yet to process the request for allocation of land for the project to expedite action.

The meeting received updates on activities of some Committees constituted by the Northern States Governors’ Forum and NOTED that recommendations contained therein are being considered with a view to coming up with implementation strategies.

The Forum observed that some Northern States Governors had earlier expressed views for a power-shift to three Geo-Political Zone in the South with a view to promoting unity and peace in the Nation. Notwithstanding their comments, the Forum unanimously condemn the statement by the Southern Governors Forum that the Presidency must go to the South. The statement is quite contradictory with the provision of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999) as amended that the elected President shall:-

(a) score the majority votes;

(b) score at least 25% of the votes cast in 2/3 States of the Federation.

(c) In the case of run-up simple majority win the election.

The Northern State Governors Forum considered the on-going National debate on the collection of Value Added Tax (VAT). As responsible leaders while we are constraint by the fact that the matter is sub judice we however for the purposes of educating the public make the following observations:

(a) the judgement of the Federal high Court calls to question the constitutionality of VAT, withholding tax, education tax, Niger Delta Development Commission, National Information Technology Development Agency, 13% derivation, National Economic Development Council and many other currently levied and collected by the Federal Government of Nigeria, Federal Inlands Revenue Service.

(b) Rivers and Lagos State Government had enacted their own VAT laws and the Southern Governors Forum have expressed support for this course of action;

(c) VAT is being confused by these State Government as a sales tax. If every State enacted its own VAT Law, multiple taxation will result in increases of prices of goods and services and collapsed in interstate trade. VAT is not a production tax like excise, but terminal tax which is paid by the ultimate consumer;

(d) Another confusion is ignoring observation above and its “overall effect”. The reason Lagos account for our 50% Vat collection is because most of the telecommunication companies, Banks, manufacturing and other trading activities have their headquarters in Lagos with the resultant and wrongful attribution of VAT

(e) Until and unless the Supreme Court pronounces judgement on the substantive matter between Rivers State and Federal Government, the matter is sub judice and Northern States Governors Forum would respect this.

The Traditional Rulers Councils appreciated the efforts made so far by the NSGF in addressing the key areas of challenges facing the Northern States, they expressed their willingness, solidarity and collaboration with the Governors’ in addressing these challenges particularly the issue of security. It was equally resolved that perpetrators of crimes should be dealt with irrespective of their status in the society.

The Forum decried the high level of conspiracies being perpetrated by some Judicial Officers in releasing / granting bail to arrested criminals. This attitude sabotages the fight against criminality, therefore, there the need to develop good and robust intelligence mechanism amongst States was identified as a panacea.

The Forum calls on Agencies to leave up to their responsibility, Traditional rulers are to equally mobilize their various communities in checkmating the ugly trend of criminality in their domains.

The Forum NOTED the ugly trend in the spread of drugs and consumption amongst the teeming youth and therefore, calls on all levels of Governments and communities to raise to the occasion by stemming the tide.

The Forum also call the Federal Government to expedite action on the well establish National Livestock Transformation Programme as a spring board in transiting from the open grazing system as widely practice in the North

APC Vows To Sweep Plateau State Councils Polls.

The All Progressive Congress APC, has vowed to win all the 17 LG polls slated 9th Oct,2021 in the state.

Governor Lalong made the vow while flagging of the campaign ahead the council’s poll held at the Shendam mini stadium in Jos , plateau state.

Governor Lalong said the APC has done a lot for the development of the State and attained greater acceptance which will guarantee its total victory during the elections.

He said the APC has steadily deepened its roots in Plateau State through his Government’s people-driven projects and programmes that have encompassed every part of the State.

Lalong said the APC has been attractive to the citizens of the State because of equity, fairness and inclusivity which has enhanced the peace and tranquility prevailing in the State, until the recent attacks which were clearly orchestrated by enemies of the people.

Governor Lalong while presenting flags to the candidates urged them to go to the polls with confidence as the people have seen and touched the performance of the APC which will spur them to choose the party during the ballot.

The Governor said “APC is the party of choice in Plateau State just as it is being embraced by people from other parties at the national level. I am very optimistic that we will sweep the elections because we don’t have opposition in Plateau State thanks to our performance.

We have shown leadership that is centred on the peace and progress of the Plateau. We have completed projects that we inherited even from the other party because of their impact on the lives of the people.

We also initiated and executed many of our own projects without concentrating on one section alone or showing preference for a particular group. That is the secret of our success and acceptability in Plateau State. The results will definitely manifest on 9th October when we sweep the polls”.

He urged members of the party and the entire people of the State to conduct themselves peacefully before, during and after the elections and not allow politicians cause a breach of the peace.

For the candidates, he asked them to carry along women and people living with disabilities in governance. Already he said, many of the local Government flag bearers have women as their Deputies.

Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives Idris Wase said the party has grown in the State because of the leadership style of Governor Lalong which is based on fairness, rule of law and the pursuance of peace.

He maintained that the State has derived a lot of dividends of democracy through the administration of Governor Lalong who has effectively collaborated with President Muhammadu Buhari and the Federal Government.

Deputy Governor Prof. Sonni Tyoden urged the party faithfuls particularly the candidates to go into the elections with confidence and determination to serve the people. Similar confidence was given by the Deputy Speaker Plateau House of Assembly, Saleh Yipmong who said the party will emerge victorious.

Responding on behalf of the other flag bearers from the 17 Local Government areas, Miskoom Alex Naantuam of Shendam Local Government said they are ready to get down to business of mobilising the people at the grassroots in order to ensure victory.

The Commander made this remark at the Headquarters OPSH during the decoration ceremony of 10 newly promoted personnel.

Maj Gen Ali observed that the confidence the Armed Forces of Nigeria have in the troops is responsible for the elevation to their next higher ranks. He therefore urged the newly promoted airmen to remain dedicated to their job. The Commander who commended the troops for their commitment to the service of the nation, urged them to strive to justify the confidence reposed in them by their service.

The beneficiaries of the promotion were also advised to remain forthright, disciplined and neutral in the discharge of their national assignment.

The Commander stressed that the promotion should spur the personnel to do more for the betterment of the nation.

High Court (9) Plateau State Division has adjourned till 4th Oct,2021 for hearing on Bokkos Local Government Chairmanship election involving Hon.Peter Best Mallo , the plentiff and Hon. Joseph Guluwa defendant objector both from the All Progressive Congress (APC).

The counsel to the plentiff M.B Abdullahi the leading counsel who announced his appearance said my Lord the matter is slated today for mention, prayed the court to grant short adjournment considering the generic nature of the case been election matter which is time bound,of an essence.

Barrister Abdullahi further added that the court should consider the proposed short adjournment been canvassed largely due to the closeness of the said election under contention slated 10th Oct,2021 by the state electorial umpire PLASIEC.

On his part,the counsel to the 1st and 2nd defendant objectors who are the APC and Joseph Guluwa respectively, Barr Nantok Dasuwar moved to withdraw his preminary objection date 1st and filed 2nd Sept,2021 ,the motion the counsel to the plentiff didn’t object but urgued the court to award them with Thirty Thousand Naira cost because they have already replied to their now about to withdraw pleminary objection which cost time though can’t be quantify and money for typing and running around.

The defendant objector objected to the Thirty Thousand Naira cost canvassed by the plentiff and pray the court to discontenance it.

Justice Godfrey Kumyil however adjourned the matter to 4th Oct,2021 for hearing on the matter ,but directed the 1st defendant objector the APC that was not in court on the ground that he was not serve , should be serve to enable him appear in court in the next adjourned date,but refused to award the cost to the plentiff on the ground that it’s too premature to start awarding cost at this stage.

The judge explained that ,”I observe that the first defendant was not serve with the service so for that the court should effect fresh service by placing it at the APC secretariat on pre-hearing date “.

HuCaPAN Holds 10th Annual General Meeting, Elects New Executives

The umbrella organisation of licenced Private Employment Agencies in Nigeria, Human Capital Providers Association of Nigeria (HuCaPAN) on Thursday held her 10th Annual General Meeting in Lagos.

The organisation elected the Group Managing Director of the Strategic Outsourcing Limited, Dr Femi Ogunlowo as the President to lead the newly inaugurated Executive Committee.

The immediate past President, Mr. Remi Adegboyega (FCIPM) in his address said that the organization has bestrode ten challenging years saying that with the mortality rates of businesses and organisations in Nigeria, the organizations has reason to appreciate the support and commitment of all our members especially those that attended the meeting physically and virtually.

He noted that year 2020 was quite challenging not just for the Association but globally occasioned by the outbreak of the devastating global pandemic, Corona Virus (COVID-19), which led to changes in businesses and way of life and considerably slowed down things globally.

He lamented the impact of the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic on the Association. He said “Some of our member-companies experienced arbitrary outright contract cancellation; suspension or downward contract review. The inability of clients to fulfill obligations; and reduction of manpower among others was responsible.”

Adegboyega said that the industry was threatened last year by bills to outlaw casualisation confused with labour service contract and outsourcing, in Nigeria but that HuCaPAN took steps through consultations and media campaigns to enlighten the proponents and the public in order to clear the confusion.

He stressed that HuCaPAN is against casualisation and has been the vanguard in promoting decent work stressing that the association would continue to be guided by best practices, relevant laws and policies.

“As a responsible Association, we have consistently maintained that we would continue to be true to our objective which is to operate and promote standards/ethical practices in recruitment, deployment and management of outsourced personnel among Service Providers in Nigeria and abroad. We have consistently campaigned against casualisation as we believe that it is against the principle of decent work.

We would continue to be guided by our Constitution, the Code of Conduct for Private Employment Agencies in Nigeria which was developed with the technical support from the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, International Labour Organisation (ILO), the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA) and the HuCaPAN. To further decent work agenda in Nigeria, we shall be true to our mantra – “anywhere a Nigerian is found working; he/she must have a decent work.

The ratification of the International Labour Convention (ILO) C181 – Private Employment Agencies Convention, 1997 (No. 181) and Convention 143 – Migrant Workers will no doubt improve our industry. HuCaPAN over the years has been at the forefront of the campaign. This is coming at a right time as the Nigeria Code of Conduct for Private Employment Agencies is also currently undergoing review. I must appreciate our partner, the International Labour Organisation (ILO) for funding the review process and providing the much needed expertise.

These documents hopefully would help to check the activities of quacks in the industry and also help to galvanise larger membership base for HuCaPAN so that all Private Employment Agencies can come together in upholding ethical employment standards.”

Reporting on stewardship of office, Adegboyega said that the relationship between the Association and the regulatory body, the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment and other stakeholders has been strengthened. He said such relationship has led to the government ratification of the International Labour Convention (ILO) C181 – Private Employment Agencies Convention, 1997 (No. 181) and Convention 143 – Migrant Workers; development and ratification of the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for international recruitment and simplification of recruiters licence and its renewal.

He called on other licenced Private Employment agencies in the country to join HuCaPAN so as to promote ethical standards in the industry and weed out quacks operating within the system.

In his acceptance speech, the new President, Dr. Femi Ogunlowo appreciated members for their trust and confidence in him and other Executive Committee members. He appreciated his predecessors, Mr. A.R Emedo, Mr. Neye Enemigin and Mr. Remi Adegboyega and members of the Executive Committee that served with them for their pragmatic and purposeful leadership which has established HucaPAN’s relevance among critical stakeholders.

He said, “While our strategic priority will remain positioning HuCaPAN as the voice of the industry by creating advantages and opportunities for member companies in a way that would protect our business, we will devote the next two years to building on our strengths and taking on new directions through training, resource mobilization, strengthening our relationship with the government and relevant stakeholders, effective implementation of relevant ratified ILO Conventions, policies and laws governing our industry.

We will work assiduously to maintain fair labour practice that upholds international labour standards and ethical practices.”

Other members of the new Executive Committee include Amb. Chief Nzeribe Okegbue, Ph.D, 1st Vice President; Otunba Tunji Balogun, 2nd Vice President; and Mr. Tunde Johnson, 3rd Vice President. Others are Mrs Christianah Ubuane, Treasurer; Mr. Steve Onyemah, Protem Publicity Secretary and the immediate past President as Ex-Officio.

Earlier, the Director General, Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association, NECA, Dr. Timothy Olawale and the Director, International Labour Organisation Country Office for Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia and Sierra Leone and Liaison Office ECOWAS, Ms. Vanessa Lerato Phala commended HuCaPAN and pledged their support to the association and decent work in Nigeria.

The New Elected People Democratic Party(PDP) Chairman in Jos North,Hon.Aminu Abdullahi has offered olive branch to his co-contestant at the just concluded ward Congress held in Jos North.

Abdullahi said there is “No Victor No Vanguish as there is no winner no looser , urgued them to come and join hand with him now that the election is over to rebuild the party in Jos North in particular and Plateau as a whole.

Hon. Aminu Abdullahi make the appeal in an interview with journalists during his inuguration as the New Elected Chairman of Jos North in keenly contested Ward Congresses of the party in Jos , plateau state.

The Chairman promised that now the election is over he will ensure that he reach out to all those who constested with me and did not win, with the view of bringing them on board and work together to move the party to another level that will be the envey of all in the state and Nigeria as whole.

He further add that the issue of impunity in the party which was not only applicable to the Ward alone where the electorates hitherto not given the opportunity to choose those to lead them ,is now a thing of the past because it almost destroy the party.

“The impunity within the party, that’s what we are fighting against,the party lost members due to impunity within it’s fold”.

The chairman further add that impunity where it existed ,did not only kill Political party , but an organization because people are allowed to choose their representative in free fair and credible election.

He called on those who are not card carrying member of the people democratic party(PDP) , should come to PDP as the coast is now clear because everyone will be accorded equal membership opportunity.

Abdullahi stressed that PDP still remain the only party that will rescue Nigeria from the present economic, Political and other mess the country find itself occasion by clueless All Progressive Congress (APC) for over six years they hold sway on power without nothing to show for it.

Buhari Is Caged, APC Has No Functional Ideology—— Northern Group

A group under the auspacies of Northern Youths Leaders Forum (NYLF), says the Muhammadu Buhari that Nigerians have today is not the Buhari they elected as president in 2015.

National President of the NYLF, Comrade Elliot Afiyo, who led the group to a news conference in Yola on Friday, said Buhari has been caged and unable to influence good governance in line with his sterling innate character.

“The real spotless Buhari has been caged,” Afiyo said, adding that Buhari has been laminated and his core personality replaced with the unsavoury Buhari that Nigerians know today.

Afiyo, who said he had known Buhari on a close range for a long time, said the president is a straightforward and honest person with selfless disposition and an eye for the general good, but that those around him have not provided the right environment for the real Buhari to manifest.

He said Buhari’s party itself, the All Progressives Congress (APC), has not been helpful, as its ideology is only on paper.

He expressed the regret that, “rather than praying for Buhari, Nigerians instead curse him.

“It is public knowledge that our nation is sinking and there is every need for patriots to come together to restore the nation,” he said.

FFK : Political Asset Or Liability.

It was President Ibrahim B. Babangida who once told us that Nigeria’s economy defies all logics. I can also add that Nigeria’s politics defies all logic. Granted, politics isn’t exactly the play field of saints and known also as a profession without qualification but at least in other climes a certain minimum is required.

Americans require a modicum of honesty and fidelity in their politics.

In 1987 the brilliant political career and the well-received presidential bid of Democratic Senator Gary Hart came to an abrupt end when it transpired that he had spent a weekend on a yacht named “Monkey Business” in March with two young women, none of whom was his wife. Infidelity also earned President Bill Clinton an impeachment and brought down uncountable politicians through the years. Why are Americans so fussy about marital infidelity? Many are influenced by President Harry Truman’s reasoning when he said: “You know, if a man will lie to his wife, he will lie to me.”

That has been interpreted to mean that if a politician can cheat on his wife he would cheat on his nation with alacrity.

You cannot apply this in Nigeria unless you want to drive ALL the politicians away. Understandably ours is still largely a polygamous society and therefore marital fidelity is less nuanced.

I’m not holding this up to FFK, a confirmed serial polygamist whose conquests, by self-confession, included a beauty queen from the East who was also wife to a one time Biafran War General. Recently he carried out another game of musical chairs on the home front ; he replaced the older Missus with a younger and “yellower” one. To demand marital fidelity from him is to demand honesty from him.

Okay, so most politicians are not honest but what exactly is FFK’s political selling point? Haughty, impudent, irreverent and abusive. What is a ruling party looking for in a politician with such specifications? Why would a party in power recruit attack dogs? Does the APC nurse an invidious agenda?

In 2006, in the heat of President Obasanjo’s third tenure elongation campaign, General Yakubu Gowon, who back in 1975 suffered a coup d’etat after postponing his promise to handover in 1976, came out to advise Obasanjo’s to learn from his mistake, but was instantaneously torn to smithereens by FFK, the OBJ’s attack dog!

I think I am wrong to call him an attack dog; I hear that dog’s display lifetime gratitude to their benefactors.

FFK doesn’t have this noble trait. On January 15, 1966, Chief Remi Fani-Kayode, the Western Region Deputy Premier and FFK’s father, was in custody of junior military officers awaiting certain execution as the military operations of the coup raged; the Premier, Chief Akintola had already been killed.

It was Lt Col Gowon, after he got wind of it, that dispatched soldiers under the Kabwir-born Capt. S. G. Tokkida to go and free Chief Remi Fani Kayode at Ikeja barracks. But FFK displayed his kind of gratitude to Gowon by insults that day in 2006 while defending his temporal “owner.”

Whatever job the APC have for FFK in the coming days, I caution them with the Hausa adage: Kar dara ta chi gida.

Plateau State: Military Intercepts Illegal Arms Smuggle Into The State .

Military Troops Code named Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) has arrested armed syndicate on the 16th Sept 2021 September 2021 with 370 rounds of ammunition concealed in a Toyota Pathfinder car with registration number Plateau LGT 772 JN.

The arrest of the armed syndicate is contained in a press statement dated 16th Sept,2021, signed by the military information officer ,Major Ishaku Takwa and made available to news men in Jos, plateau state.

According to the release,luck ran out of the suspect when the driver of the car attempted to maneuvre the military check point located at Werreng along Barkin Ladi – Jos in Plateau state. Unfortunately for the suspects, their car hit the barricade at the check point which resulted in the death of one of the suspects.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects Sergeant Azi Jonathan, a 30-year old serving police traffic warden drove the vehicle and Mr Nengak Daniel, a 60 year old were intercepted by the troops during stop and search operation at a checkpoint.

The body of the deceased suspect have been handed over to the Police Divisional Headquarters at Barkin Ladi while the other suspect is undergoing interrogation.

Other items recovered from the suspects include a Toyota Pathfinder car, a cash sum of Two Hundred and Five Thousand, Seventy Naira (N205, 070.00) only, one empty case of ammunition, one Dagger, a torchlight and 3 Techno phones. Others are; national identity card, 3 wraps of a substance suspected to be cannabis and a bag containing clothing materials.

The surviving suspect is currently undergoing further interrogation for prosecution.

The Commander OPSH, Major General Ibrahim Ali while commending the troops for their vigilance has reiterated the determination of his command to flush out criminal elements on the Plateau and environs.

He urged law abiding citizens to continue with their normal daily activities as troops are working round the clock to ensure crime free society. The Commander further enjoined members of the public not to relent in supporting security agencies with credible information to stem criminal activities in the state.

Governorship Aspirant Hon.Akilo Olatunji Berates Gov.Fayemi Over Poor Developmental Projects In Ekiti

The Governorship Aspirant of the Young Party,YPP, in Ekiti State ,Hon Akilo Olatunji Thomas has berated the Governor of Ekiti state ,John Kayode Fayemi over lack of developmental projects in the state since he assumed office as the governor of the state, as Akilo described the governor as blind man that succeeded in dividing the state by creating disaffection and confusion in his second terms in office .

He disclosed the major problem of Nigeria is fallout of bailout funds released to the state governors leading to the country into underdevelopment of the country .

Speaking with our medium in Jos ,Thomas explains that the bailout funds has caused comatose to some of hitherto active states which play major setback to the country with so many tourist centres neglected and abandoned by government .

He lamented that the electorates queued under the sun to vote these representatives who turned out only to be interested in sharing the state resources not those that are representing our interest anymore we are face up with bad leaders of Senator Abiodun Olujimi and Rep member Femi Bamishile for years of masquerading as people representatives .

Hon. Emmanuel Dung Appeals To PLASIEC Not To Disenfranchise Plateau Voters.

The Chairmanship Candidate for Jos South Local Government Council of Plateau Chapter of the People Democratics Party, PDP, Hon. Emmanuel Dung “Gibok” has cautioned against plan by the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commissione,(PLASIEC) to disenfranchised the electorate in forthcoming LGAs Polls in October 2021 .

He employed federal government and state governors to walk up and address the lingering insecurity also security agencies to be more proactive.

He said as a Father of the State, the Governor should accept, embrace and carry all along in the spirit of oneness and togetherness irrespective of tribal, religious and political inclination for the unity, growth and progress of the State.

The Candidate also charged the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) to ensure that Candidates of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) are not exempted from the forthcoming Local Government Polls in the State scheduled for 9th October, 2021 as doing so will amount to disenfranchisement and a rape on our nascent democracy.

He urged the electoral umpire to borrow a leaf from the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission by deploying the e-voting system to enhance credible, free, fair and acceptable elections where the will of the people are respected.

He said no political party should be unjustly excluded from the forthcoming Local Government Polls.

Former Jigawa Governor, Sule has decried the astronomical increase of insecurity in the country.

Lamido revealed this on Sunday with a meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo at his OOPL Presidential Library residence in Abeokuta, the Ogun capital.

Lamido said the country is bleeding and appealed to Obasanjo to continue to contribute his quota to peace and unity.

“How do we remain safe is the biggest problem and challenge now in this country. Nobody is safe again.

‘Imagine, kidnapping three workers of Baba, a former President of the country? Who is safe again? he queried.

Lamido said his visit to the ex-leader was normal and that he met him “in a very high spirit and good health”.

“He told me that he’s now ageing and I responded that he’s not. We still need him in this country.

“He said, Sule, I will do anything for Nigeria. That is very inspiring. That is why I like him and this reinforces my faith in Nigeria.

“We discussed a number of issues, particularly on Nigeria that he so loved. No matter how down we go, we’ll rise again”, he added.

Following the alleged Murder of a taxi driver by the personnel of Operation Save Haven (OPSH),the troop deployed to Plateau state have been warned to always conduct themselves in a professional manner inline with global best practice,and adhered the fundamental human rights of the citizens .

The press release read,

Operation SAFE HAVEN received with shock a report of security personnel of OPSH deployed at Farin Gada beat and murdered a commercial taxi driver Mr Abdullahi Karafa.

Immediately the report was received, the commander Operation SAFE HAVEN Major General Ibrahim Ali visited the deceased family and condoled them over the unfortunate incidence.

The commander has since constituted a board of inquiry to unravel those behind the heinous act. He asured that those who would be found culpable will be made to face the full wrath of the law.

SAFE HAVEN wish to reiterates that troops deployed on the plateau were always warned to Operationconduct themselves in the most professional manner inline with global best practices and respect for the fundamental human rights of the citizenry and strict adherence to rules of engagement. Therefore, any act short of this is condenmable and unacceptable by OPSH.

Sequel to the crisis which has engulfed the hitherto “Home Of Peace And Tourism” Plateau state where scores lost their lives and unquantified properties destroyed, security outfit under the code name Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH),has Inaugurated 36 member of joint peace Committee 11th Sept,2021.

Inaugurating the committee which was held at the Headquarters of Operation Save Haven(OPSH) in Jos the commander of the security outfit Major General Ali who doubled as the General Officer(GOC) commanding 3 Armour Division Cantonment Rukuba , recommended measures to be taken to find lasting solution to the incessant clashes and killings among various ethnic groups in the State.

Speaking during the inauguration, Maj Gen Ali urged members of the committee to demonstrate impartiality, neutrality, honesty, uprightness and avoid sentiment and compromise.

He disclosed that the members who were drawn from ethnic communities in Bassa, Jos North and South LGAs have the background knowledge of the conflict and hopes their experience in communal conflict resolution would assist in fast-tracking the restoration of peace on the Plateau.

Maj Gen Ali stressed that sustainable peace can only be achieved through alternative dispute resolution mechanism by all parties to the conflict.

The Commander noted that the Committee was created as part of the non-kinetic approach of Operation SAFE HAVEN to peace building in the state.

He added that the committee would assist in making recommendations that will help OPSH and Plateau State Government in finding lasting solution to the incessant conflict among various ethnic groups of Irigwe, Fulani, Hausa, Bache, Dong, Gyel and Anaguta. “

…It is hoped that the outcome of this committee will contribute immensely to the peace building efforts in the targeted communities with a view to returning Plateau state to the path of peace and sustainable development” he said.

The Committee according to Maj Gen Ibrahim Ali, would identify the root causes of the crises in Bassa, Jos North and Jos South local government areas and recommend implementable strategies that would lead to sustainable peace on the state.

Thanking the Commander for the confidence reposed on the Committee, the Chairman of the committee, Prince Robert Rigwe Ashi gave the assurance that the committee would discharge its duties diligently devoid of sentiment and solicited for the support of community leaders to achieve their mandate.

Also speaking on behalf of Traditional Rulers, the District Head of Dong, Ada Gwom Kaze Inyam appreciated the Commander for the initiative and urged the leaders of Irigwe, Fulani, Hausa, Bache, Dong, Gyel and Anaguta communities to support the Committee to succeed in its assignment.

The Committee has two weeks to complete it’s assignment.

Governor of Plateau state Simon Bako Lalong, First Lady Regina Lalong and members of his family were in Ny’ak, Ajikamai, Shendam LGA to pay their last respects to his late uncle, retired Colonel Martin Maigida who died at the age of 73.

The funeral mass was held at the St. Stephen’s Catholic Church Ny’ak where Rev. Fr. Tobias Damen take his bible reading from the book of Matt chapter 25:31-46 and Romans 5:5-11, and admonished Christians to be focussed on life after death rather than acquiring earthly possessions and positions as everything on earth will pass away.

He further reminded the congregation that everyone will stand before God for judgement where he will give account and receive reward according to his deeds here on earth. This he stressed should make people do good and respect humanity and sanctity of life, rather than discriminate and act wickedly against others who are also God’s creation.

Governor Lalong described the late Col. Martin Maigida as a fine officer, gentleman and a caring father who served his family with love and gave so much to society, particularly his immediate community, using his training as a health worker and soldier.

He recalled with nostalgia how the late uncle mentored them and stood in for them through generosity, sound counsel and exemplary conduct. This he said spurred many of them to aspire for greatness and also contribute to the society.

Lalong added that though they are pained by the loss of the late Colonel Maigida, they are nonetheless comforted by his testimony and good legacies which will remain indelible and a source of inspiration for the younger generation.

Son of the deceased, Air Commodore Wapkerem Maigida also eulogised his late father describing him as humble, honest, godly, disciplined and patriotic. These attributes he said have been deposited in them and have propelled them towards making impact in the society.

He thanked sympathizers who paid personal visits and sent various messages of commiseration to the family.

Before his demise, late Colonel Maigida was a Knight of St. Mulumba (KSM).

Lalong Legacy Projects Suit,Court Adjourns Ruling On Application Till 24th Sept.

High Court judge ,Justice Daniel Mann has fixed 24th Sept,2021, on application brought before him on whether the process filled by the major contractor Beneson Service Nigeria Limited and LP Management Limited seeking the court relief instituted against the Ministry of Finance ,Plateau state government ,LP service Nigeria Ltd and United Service Nigeria Ltd on award of contract to the company was in accordance with due process .

After the Plateau State Government terminated the contract agreement for contractor failure to meet the contract term ,Beneson service Nigeria Ltd and LP Management Ltd instituted Institute legal action against the Plateau State Ministry of Finance ,State Government, Trustee Ltd and United Trustees Ltd over the decision to payment which contractor failure to pay contractors .

Counsel representing Beneson service Nigeria Ltd and LP management Ltd who the claimant ,Barr . A.K.Ajibade ,SAN, in an interview with journalists says,the case have to do with “Lalong’s Legacy Projects” where the plaintiff the contractor went into the market to obtained a bond worth which 30 million to execute the project .

He further said the state government terminated his client contract agreement and give it to another contractor denied his client who have gone to source for fund to complete the contract .

Mr Ajibade explained that the Plateau state government raised preliminary objections on process filled and we have replied them .

However, he stressed that the 3rd & 4th defendants counsel brought an application that form 01 was not properly filed urging the court to stroke out the suit for lack of merit .

Ajibade argued that if you’re in court the issues of form 01 doesn’t arise at the early stage ,he submitted that the court should disregard the argument sought by the defendants and allow the matter proceeds.

Meanwhile ,counsel to the 3rd and 4th defendants ,Barr.Pascal .N. Mammo said the argument was based on preliminary objections we file challenging the competency of the action of the plaintiff .

The 3rd & 4th defendants filed that what the plaintiff, the contractor brought before the court didn’t meet the requirements of the law .

Pascal argued that they don’t have to commence on the originating surmount at this stage because the action go contrary with the position of the law which by law it should be struck out that the step taken to approach the court dead on arrival .

Ajibade, SAN representing the Project contractor, disputed claim of the defendants and arguments at a virtual of High Court hearing when the judge scheduled to deliver a ruling on 24th September, 2021.

The Governor said as the youth vanguard in the state,they should use their tenure to unit youths in the state and stop been a prey in the hands of greedy and selfish politicans who are bent in causing Political disharmony in the state and set the youth against the constituted authority,the government of the day.

Governor Simon Bako Lalong asked the people of Plateau State to take advantage of the Anti-Land Grabbing Law signed early this year and seek redress over any land forcefully or illegally taken from them.

This is even as the Governor says he will soon inaugurate an Anti-land Grabbing Task Force to also follow up on such complaints and ensure that justice prevails.

Lalong decried the exploitation of the youths by some unscrupulous politicians who stop at nothing to spread lies against his administration using such false narratives relating to land and other matters.

He said “Contrary to this mischief, our Government is the first in the history of Plateau State and one of the few if not the only one in Nigeria to sign anti-land grabbing law which we initiated as an Executive Bill. Till date, no one has either approached the Courts to lodge any complain of land grabbing or even sent a petition to me. Yet you hear this narrative being spread like wildfire.

Similarly, our efforts to end conflicts between farmers and farmers are being ignored and twisted for politics. We established the Peace Building Agency which has conducted series of dialogue sessions across the State. In Bassa alone, there have been more than 34 sessions. We succeeded in bringing Berom and Fulani together in Barkin Ladi and they reached an agreement on how to live in peace”.

“I appeal to you to ignore and reject such character assassination ploys by those who want to use you to achieve their selfish agenda. Beware of politicians who do not have anything to offer to you except to cook up lies and pull down others under the guise of standing with the people. Let them tell you what they are bringing or have brought to the table when they were in office” he said.

He congratulated the new leadership of the youths for their election and urged them to continue to support the Government as it works towards improving the lot of the youths and creating job opportunities.

New Chairman of the Plateau Youth Council, Comrade Lot Sunday Adas said the youths in Plateau must rise up and show their readiness and commitment to pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, to assure the survival, progress and success as all citizens of the State irrespective of their backgrounds.

He also promised to work with the Government in ensuring that the youths get empowerment and job creation opportunities.

In his remark at the opening session of the meeting taking place at the PDP national secretariat, he praised the party members for their steadfastness to democracy and the rule of law.

Following the inauguration PDP National Campaign Council for the Anambra State Governorship Election earlier during the meeting by the PDP acting National Chairman, Elder Yemi Akinwonmi, the PDP presidential candidate in 2019 election said since 1998, he had not seen Anambra PDP united the way it is today.

He commended all organs of the party particularly the PDP Governors Forum for the leadership they have provided for the PDP during the recent crisis.

Akinwonmi said in his welcome address that the essence of today’s NEC is to approve the convention planning committee and others that had been agreed upon for setting up during the last NEC meeting.

Plateau State Govt.Relaxes Curfew In Jos North,Lift Ban On Tricycles.

Plateau State Government has announced a further relaxation of curfew in Jos North Local Government Area as well as lifted the ban earlier placed on operations of tricycles commonly referred to as Keke.

This is contained in a press statement dated 7th Sept,2021 signed by the Director of press and public affairs to the governor Simon Mackut Mancham and made available to journalists in Jos, plateau state.

The release read in part,

After a meeting of the State Security Council held on Monday 7th September 2021 at the new Government House Little Rayfield Jos, Governor Simon Bako Lalong approved that beginning from Tuesday 8th September 2021, the curfew in Jos North will be enforced from 10pm to 6am.

This will tally with the current status of the curfew in Jos South and Bassa Local Government Areas which still remains from 10pm to 6am.

Similarly, Governor Lalong also approved that beginning from Tuesday 8th September 2021, the ban placed on operations of tricycles will be lifted from 6am to 6pm daily. This means that no tricycle will be allowed to operate between the hours of 6pm to 6am.

However, the ban on motorcycles within the Jos/Bukuru Metropolis remains intact as enforcement will continue to ensure that violators are arrested and punished according to the law.

The Government is working on innovations, legislations and enforcement modules for enhancing the security, effectiveness and availability of public transportation in the State, which will be unveiled in due course and is expected to address the major concerns of the citizens particularly as it relates to the safety of passengers.

Governor Lalong while appreciating the cooperation and understanding of the citizens during the period of the attacks and subsequent curfews, urges them to continue to support Government in restoring normalcy to enable the State resume its normal trajectory of hospitality, opportunity and productivity.

Governor Lalong also thanks all stakeholders within and outside the State for their concerns and goodwill towards addressing the recent ugly developments, assuring that his administration will continue to pursue the path of peaceful coexistence while dealing with criminals and crises merchants who are bent on tarnishing the enviable image of the State.

Insecurity : Kogi Registers Commercial Transport Vehicles To Checkmate Criminals.

As part of measures aimed at tackling insecurity, Kogi state government has commenced registration of all commercial transport vehicles including motorcycles and tricycles operating in the state. The State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (Rtd), disclosed this on Monday in Lokoja at the commencement of the registration exercise holding at the Lokoja Township Stadium.

Commander Omodara stated that the registration exercise became imperative to have a data base for all commercial transport operators in order to checkmate crimes and criminalities among the populace as part of the policy formulation of the state.

The reporter, Global times Nigeria, Idris Ahmed, Lokoja said that the Special Adviser pointed out that Kogi state government is ever ready to prevent influx of bad elements using means of transportation to wreck havoc on the innocent citizens.

While the exercise is intended to improve on security of the state, it will equally boost the revenue drive of the government and also serve as security to the operators and their vehicles to curb theft and other criminal activities

On Social intervention programmes, the Security Adviser noted that the data base may be used for State Health Insurance Scheme to help the operators, stressing that the exercise would also help in the internally generated revenue.

Also Speaking the Chairman of Kogi State Internal Revenue Service KGIRS Yusuf Abubarkar corroborated the Special Adviser on Security, stressing the necessity of having the data base of the transporters operating within the confine of Kogi state for security purpose.

He added that the exercise will be spread across the 21 local government areas of the state, stressing that every operator within Kogi State must be registered. The revenue board Chairman explained that though the exercise is free for all for the next two weeks, late registration will attract some levies.

According to the officials, over 5,000 motorcycles in Lokoja , the state capital, are expected to register, adding that those who failed to comply will be made to face stringent sanctions.

Pasali who doubled as the National Secretary of Petroleum Marketers Association lamented that since Plateau crisis started 20 years ago,nobody have been punished to serve as deterant to some Crisis merchants who stocks in trade is to cause mayhem , the reason the Crisis persisted.

Alh.Danladi Pasali disclosed this in an interview with journalists recently at his resident in Jos, Plateau state capital.

He further said until the government and those in the corridor of power judiciary, summoned the courage with the view of reforming the current obsolete criminal justice law,that will make it punishable by death for person , group who aid and abate crisis and involved in killing .

And stressed that this reform is very impressive because human live is precious for any person to just come and cut-shut with little or no provocation.

When this reform is made , which will take care of the obsolete Criminal Justice law, that is now obsolete with a lot of lacuna,that will make it punishable by death for any person that kills.

He Condemned the recent Killings at Rukuba road and Yelwan Zangam community in the state, however stressed that no religion , Christianity and lslam encourage killing of another person no matter the level of provocation.

On the current issue of insecurity bedeviling the country,Pasali said ,

“Security is everybody’s business and is not the responsibility of the government along ,all must been involve”.

And further added that in must time, looking at the way things are happening in respect to insecurity ,one will be forced to insinuate that it’s politically motivated .On the recent Plateau Crisis ,you can see that it’s politically motivated. He maintained.

Pasali appealed to Nigeria to stop politicising the issue of insecurity in the country because the live of the citizens are very precious.

“We are appealing to Nigerians to stop politicising the issue of security because the live of the people is precious”.

“We should not be handling the issues of security with Political mindset , and said security is serious issue and everybody’s business”.

He urgued all asundry irrespective of Political, religious, and ethnic lineage to support the government for us to end this security challenges .

The APC Chieftain in the state thank God that live has returned to normal after the senseless crisis that engulfed the state few weeks ago , claiming lives and properties, reiterated his condemnation as killing in any religion is not allowed.

Plateau State : Security Agencies Bursts Drug Syndicate,Recovers Illicit Drugs.

Security operatives under the auspacies of Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) Sat 4th Sept 2021,recorded break through by arresting syndicate who is hard drugs dealer and 320 blocks of Indian hemp worth 9.5 million naira concealed in a Toyota Camry car with registration number Abuja ABC 214 HV.l was recoverd from him.

This is reaveled in press statement dated 4th Sept ,2021 signed by the Military information Officer Major Ishaku Takwa and made available to this medium in Jos, Plateau state.

The suspects according to the release Ex Sgt Patrick Kalu a retired police officer, 60 year old and Mr Friday Kalu 40 years old were nabbed by troops of OPSH during stop and search operation at Manchok Riom road.

They alleged that they were contracted to convey the illicit substance from Ondo State to Yola, Adamawa State.

Items recovered from the suspects include 320 blocks of substance suspected to be cannabis, a Toyota camry car with registration Number Abuja, ABC 214 HV, a police identity card, 2 Nokia phones and two wallets containing Sixteen Thousand One Hundred naira and another containing Two Thousand Nine Hundred and Forty Naira only.

The suspects and items recovered have been handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Plateau State command for further investigation.

While commending troops for their vigilance, the Commander OPSH, Major General Ibrahim Ali reiterated the determination of his command to flush out criminal elements on the Plateau and environs.

He said OPSH will not rest on its oars until criminals and their collaborators are annihilated.

And urged law abiding citizens to continue to support security agencies with credible information on criminal activities in the state.

Nigerian Army has advised those who stocks in trade in dissipating their energy calling for the remover of the GOC 3 Armour Division who doubled as the commander Operation Save Haven (OPSH) to forthwith stop instead come forward and suggest ways to rebuild the collapse peace on the Plateau.

This is in response to group under the aegis of Coalition Of Plateau Ethnic Nationalities calling for immediate redeployment of the GOC 3 Armour Division over the recent crisis in Yelwan Zangam where not fewer than 36 persons where gruesomely murder in Cold blood.

The army advice is contained in a press statement dated 3rd Sept,2021 signed by Major Eli Lazarus Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relation 3 Division Rukuba Cantonment,made available to newsmen in Jos , plateau state.

According to the release,

Barely 24 hours after the visit of the Chief of Defence Staff General Lucky Irabor to Jos where he interacted with critical stakeholders, had fruitful discussions and reiterated the need for the peace loving people of the state to support security agencies to restore lasting peace in the state, it is surprising that a group which identifies itself as Coalition of Plateau Ethnic Youth Nationalities under the leadership of Comrade Lohnan Samson is insisting on taking us backward by reiterating the needless call for the removal of the GOC 3 Division Nigerian Army Maj Gen Ibrahim Ali.

This attack on the person of the GOC is an unnecessary distraction in the effort to restore sustainable peace on the Plateau. We therefore appeal to the group and other groups to stop dissipating energy attacking the person of the GOC rather, they should concentrate on building peace in the State.

All organised groups in Plateau State should understand that they have a responsibility to contribute positively to the peace building effort in the State in particular and the nation as a whole. In this regard, if the group has any suggestion, credible information or specific issue to be addressed to fast track the restoration of lasting peace on the Plateau, it should feel free to make such suggestions to security agencies.

We invite all law abiding groups, religious leaders, men and women of goodwill to join forces with security agencies to overcome the security challenges on the Plateau.
